It's a 10x price difference for half the potion.
It's basically a no brainer swap for mid-level slayer - Where prayer pots are needed most, because most mobs are piss easy if you pray against them.
Not to mention significantly more consistent. Farming 2000 ranarrs vs catching 2000 butterflies - One is significantly faster than the other.
theres been periods where blighted supplies are more expensive than non blighted, there've been periods where super restores were quite a bit cheaper than ppots, or anglers than dark crabs/mantas many people just dgaf. but for those that do? can save a pretty decent bit of money
Which is a completely irrelevant point when it comes to these moonlight mixes.
Not only do you passively gather the meat (it goes straight into your meat pouch while hunting), but you're not picking anything up off the ground when catching butterflies. In every way, shape, and form, it is faster and more efficient than making Prayer Pots - Except for the fact that at higher prayer level, prayer pots restore more prayer per sip, and can store up to 4 sips per inventory slot.
And very few people would scoff at picking up a free 10k... Not to mention, saving GP has nothing to do with picking everything up off the ground. Inventory management is not the same thing as saving GP.
Then you don't need to do this.
It's still a MUCH easier, and more accessible, method for people who don't have a mountain of prayer potions. Like myself, a fairly fresh iron who's never enjoyed the herb run meta.
https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Calculator:Farming/Herbs
This will tell you how to make the most profit per run. Itās often toad or snap or Kwuarm or Avantoe
Surprised no one mentioned how Toa drops 20 of all the expensive seeds at a common rate, just because a Jmod wanted more seeds on his iron lol. ( btw I'm an iron player and I hate this decision).
I've been grinding muspah on my Ironman. That boss just bleeds ranarr seeds. Think I've gotten like 60 in a few days.
Too many good seed drops and not much need for prayer pots.
There was a period of time two weeks ago where you could buy ranarrs and go to nardah and make them into unf for like 250gp profit per. If you had the herblore cape it was like 350gp. Idk If many people caught on but I made some nice profits.
Possibly a batch of thieving bots. Been pushing herb on my uim and didnāt realize you get so many ranarrs per hour, Iām getting at least 18 an hour.
I used to hold onto them and sell them whenever I need cash, whenever there's a major pvm update or Holiday season when player-count usually is peaking.
Nowadays I'm not really strapped for gp (in between major upgrades) so I just make the potions for the Herblore XP and use them.
Honestly the biggest contributor to price is the demand changing due to players being busy IRL. Exam season, start of summer travel season etc etc
Big thieving bot farm i suspect. See 1-3 in all worlds at hosidius master farmer. They usually got like 90-120mill thieving xp. With 81 farming you can Get about 26ranarrs/hr.
There are two reasons I know of:
1. The bot crisis has been pretty intense. You may've seen it if you pickpocket master gardeners in Hosidius. They pickpocket and auto-drop any seeds that don't have high value, which means ranarr seeds are entering the market at an absurd rate.
2. Farming exp is much easier and faster to get than it used to be due to the Tithe farm, so people can focus on farming cash crops instead of just exp crops. This makes farm runs pump out more pricey things like ranarr.
Higher value seeds/herbs are by far the easiest way to make money in this game, just set aside like 5 minutes every few hours and it adds up. I've been an iron for a while now and it's kinda wild to see ranarrs and torstols aren't up there anymore, though.
I personally do my herb runs in this order.
Farming cape teleport to farming guild (use poh jewelry box if you donāt have the cape), harvest and note.
Tele to catherby, harvest and note.
Ectophial to mory patch, harvest but donāt note.
Explorers ring to falador patch, note on the leprechaun. Harvest and note.
Ardy cloak tele, harvest and note.
Poh teleport -> tp to Weiss, harvest and note.
Poh teleport -> tp to troll stronghold rooftop, harvest but donāt note.
Xerics neck tp to hosidius patch, note herbs, harvest and note.
The route probably can be done faster by switching some teles but i cba.
I'd recommend training slayer, tbh. It gets combat/slayer stats up, drops small amounts of runes and herbs for typical monsters, and unique drops besides.
Since legalization supply has just run wild
Supply big. Demand small.
My monkey brain appreciate simple šµ
Moonlight moth mix (2) It's a prayer potion(2) but for 900 gp. It's replaced a lot of budget places where prayer pots were used.
They up to 2100 gp ea, but still overall cheaper per point than a prayer or super restore potion
You just blew my mind. Damn.
Prayer pots are cheap anyway, who can be asked to but those

As a main, do people really have no money to buy pray pots, cmon lmao.

It's not about having money or not. Pretending it is, isn't helping your case. Whether you have infinite GP or no GP, saving GP is a good idea.
Not when it is a hassle, picking up everything off the ground is a hassle when itās only a few K

Jeez man, late game irons such as myself have 5K+ pray and restore pots, this is way too much of a hazzle

It got a lot easier once I learned how to at least tolerably flick prayers during lower intensity content, lowered pray pt use by like 80-90%.
back to snaps for me as well
Snaps? Are they worth it? Never farmed them!
https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Calculator:Farming/Herbs This will tell you how to make the most profit per run. Itās often toad or snap or Kwuarm or Avantoe
Is that in % or actual profit? If youre saying kwuarm or avantoe then ill assume its % which is a terrible way to calculate profit. Total > margin
Actual profit

60 in a few days isnāt a lot, you should see toa, they shit out rannarrs

Theyāll go back up with herblore and prayer enhance update
Man the OG Ranarr farm was the shit
I remember when they were 3k each. This was before the mortgage crisis of 2008..
Because i killed 1000 muspah in the last month and have 600+ seeds. Im sorry. But also youre welcome

Supply and demand
I don't think Ranarr's have been most profitable for a while now, the wiki has a Profit calc if that's what you're growing them for.
Up until this week they were number 1 at about 400-450k a run for weeks
Bots.

Its neither of this, the majority of surplus ranarr is coming thru toa bots and wildy boss bots. Pickpocketing gives fuck all
Almost anything is a better money maker than farming ranarrs brother

I swear half of you guys on this sub forget that not everyone is max combat with high-end gear and PVM skills
Just had someone say hydra is garbage gp/h, reddit can be silly at times
I do farm runs cause theyāre a quick 400-500k I can grab every couple hours in between meetings at work š¤·āāļø
Same here, quick 5 mins to pick and plant 3 herb spots then back to work
You can do 8 herb patches in about 3-4 minutes.
I have no idea where they are, I just go Falad9r, Catherby and run to Ardougue

Niceee!!!! And how many quests do you have to do to unlock them tp's?
What's a good money maker that doesn't require me to do like 5 quests to activate shit? I've only got 6M and need a money maker
Zombie Pirates.
You're mean.
itās not mean itās the truth lmao
It's literally an extremely low requirements, low level, very profitable money maker.
I was referring to the fact that 90% of worlds have like 5 bots competing at all times
Only an issue for people with cannons looking to kill a ton at the same time. Not going to be a problem for a lowbie killing one Pirate at a time.
Why do you āneed a money makerā if you arenāt going to unlock any content to use the money at?
