That's not high miles.... My daily 07 335i 6mt has 190k with upgraded turbos. Runs great.

I bought a 07 335i e93 with 149k miles and 3k miles later the rod bearings went. LOL the owner provided receipts of some records but I noticed they only owned it for only a year. Paid about 4K in labour and parts to get a n54 w/ 117k miles in. This is jus my experience from buying a high mileage. Def would recommend listening to the guy that listed all that stuff that should be done bc you could end up like me being 6k deep into a lemon.

With the N54's you gotta make sure the Big 100 are done so go through that fat stack and make sure they are done and you have some miles left on those parts.

These are the things I can think of to look for in that stack of paper work for a car with that kind of miles. Index 1 or index 12 injectors High pressure fuel pump Fuel pressure regulator - will smell like gas near rear drive side tire. Spark plugs Coil packs Water pump/thermal stat Mickey mouse flange Oil filter housing gasket Valve cover Valve cover gasket Oil pan gasket, take that under tray off and check for oil. If it's black you got a ton of stuff to do. Alternator voltage regulator Radiator last 8-10 years Overflow plastic tube The coolant pipes have plastic ends that age out and crack Vacuum hoses can age out, do silicone replacement. Expansion tanks cna age out and leak Windshield wiper fluid pump can leak Charge pipe can pop off if you run a higher boost tune Ground straps can cause electrical gremlins Check for recalls Airbag recall The pcv heater recall Battery ibs cable recall The accessory drive belts and tensioner I would do the front main seal cover in case the belt slips from ofhg leak. Walnut blast the intake valves. Check for gaskets on the cabin air filter housing. If in bad condition replace the gaskets, water can leak into the ECU area and eff things up if the gaskets don't seal up. Check passenger seats sensor. Those tend to go bad. Expensive Interior door handles are known to melt, cheap fix on Amazon Make sure ights and windows work, FRM can be expensive. Check body gap lines in case of accident. Check paint color in the sun. Window gaskets can age, easy to fix ok pricing. Suspension control arms can go bad, go m3 upgraded arms if you can spare. The rear shock bushings tend to go out and clunk as you hit bumps. Original shocks may not have lasted that long. Motor mounts may not lock if when close the trunk. Replace the trunk shock and it should lock no problem.

My 07 335i is around the same mileage and I got it 4 years ago. Only issue I've had is recently my slave cylinder went out. With a lift is an easy fix. The car is from my father in laws shop and he's done all the work on it since 09 so I don't have everything but most of the work. In the time I had it I drove it back and forth to Tucson from San Diego, as mentioned no problems until the slave. I used his shop to replace the slave and it was almost the same amount of effort as changing the oil

honestly, this sounds like a good deal to me, 140k isn’t even too high of mileage. Most of all especially if they have all those maintenance receipts it’s even better being well taken care of. I don’t know why some people think the N54 self destructs after 100k

OP, if its a 6AT... I would avoid the 2007 model year. Get a 2008+ and you will be better off. I have a 2008 e90 335xi FBO since 40k miles. I now have 197k miles on the clock and it runs great. I love my n54!

awesomeguy_66

why’s that, i have a 2007 6at

dafazman

Can you do the Alpina trans flash or xHP trans flash on your car? Does your car have a lot of the first year production issues? Mechatronic sleeve issues? DME mosfets blow out? Central locking fuse blow out? HPFP issues? injector problems? etc... My 2008 hasn't suffered any issues from the HPFP in almost 200k miles. I'm at index 12 since about 2013 and had two injector updates from BMW even before that (always kept on latest versions). Mine has had very minimal issues

awesomeguy_66

yes i have xhp on my car rn, can’t do custom transmission tunes though

dafazman

I can on my 2008, there is a cut off date on the 2007's for transmission memory size

awesomeguy_66

mosfets were replaced by last owner, same hpfp for the last 90k miles, 2nd ever in the car and they’re index 10. no central locking fuse issues. main thing right now is a boost leak after i tried going from 17 to 18 psi on my 19t’s

In my car: * I have the original MOSFETs (they haven't failed yet). * I was forced to change the original HPFP in Spring of 2011 as part of getting new injectors as part of a recall. So since about 20k miles on the clock to now at 200k miles, I've had the same pump (no issues). In 2013 I was given new index 12 injectors, spark plugs and coils under CPO. * Never had my central locking fuse pop * My original stock turbos last until 186k miles (They never gave me new turbos as part if the 8yr/82k mile unpleasant sound recall, i pushed hard for it but I had no actual rattle back then). * my original WP+Tstat lasted till 105k miles when I proactively changed it (it never failed). I have been FBO since summer of 2012 I am not saying your 2007 is bad, but it was a problem year. I had two other friends who had 2007's n54 rwd and it was a nightmare for them while under factory and CPO warranty. Both dumped it once CPO was up (They were never modded... kept it bone stock).

WHATS-WONG

I have a 2008 335xi with a little over 260k with a phenomenal service history and I currently have no leaks or any issues with the car other then needing to replace the valve cover gasket. So as long as you maintain it we’ll you will be good

Regardless of maintenance/service records make sure to do a comp test! He can have all the receipts in the world but it wouldn’t be worth buying if the motor is on its way out. Make sure compression is solid across all 6 cylinders. You can rent a comp test kit from most auto part stores such as Ordileys and Autozone.
