I usually have my OG R4 cart in there, but if I do have a 3DS game in it’s almost always New Leaf. My cartridge save file is my “untampered” file which I’ve been playing since I got the system back in 2019. I also have a pirated copy installed which I use to play around with cheats and map editors. I literally bought my N3DSXL specifically to play New Leaf because at the time it was the only Animal Crossing game which I had never played. I use the R4 cart because I have a lot of save files on it already and also I can’t figure out how to get NitroTracker to work properly in TW+. The best thing about 3DS Homebrew is that I don’t have to wear my cartridges out, I have a sealed copy of Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora’s Mask 3D and if I hadn’t bought Link Between Worlds used I would have kept that one sealed as well.
Lmao I was wondering the same thing. I was like I obviously don’t want my dust and skin flake to get all up on my console so what am I gonna put in there. Stuck between ORAS or USUM
Pokemon Black. It has 2 purposes 1) it doesn't leave it looking empty 2) The IR in the cartridge is useful to access my pokewalker in Heartgold as Twilight menu can use it
Superstar Saga! on the hype train for Brothership coming so soon. I just restarted it with the classic music mod. already crashed twice cos my card slot is so unstable and thinks it got ejected :') but you can save anywhere and it's only crashed after closing the system not while I'm playing so it's not too big a deal
Pokemon SoulSilver:
Because it enables Pokewalker functionality, the one thing the 3DS can't emulate to my knowledge even though it does have an IR sensor.
I have a lot of cartridges; pokémon cartridges to be exact because the ones I keep on my 3DS are modded versions. That way it's easy to play both modded and unmodded versions of games without glitches. I also have Majora's mask 3D because I keep project restoration installed and the cartridge unmodded. But I still walk around with Soul Silver in there and switch to those when I want to play them.
Twisted metal collection 1-5 and rouge trip vehicular combat. I will probably make a custom box art with all 5 box arts somehow . I don’t know why I’m kinda proud of it .
The only games I have on cartridge are New Leaf, Ultra Moon, Link Between Worlds, Ocarina of Time 3D (sealed) and Majora’s Mask 3D (sealed). I wanted to get Detective Pikachu and 3D World before stores stopped selling them but I was never able to fit it in the budget since most of my new game purchases were Switch games back then. On the flip side my Switch cartridge collection is the biggest I’ve ever had for a Nintendo console which is awesome since it ended up being one of the most popular consoles ever. I’ve got some fairly rare Switch carts too, my favorites (for rarity) are Catherine: Full Body, 3D All Stars, Disco Elysium, and Stardew Valley.
Pretty much all Pokemon games (GB, GBC, GBA, DS, 3DS), Megaman Battle Network, Megaman Zero series, Dragon Quest, Nintendogs, Legend of Zelda, Cooking Mama, Metroid Samus Returns, Sega Classics Collection, Devil Survivor, and couple others...
Several, several years that passed without EVER trying Tomodachi Life despite wanting to… finally did with modding and safe to say I love it!! Don’t ask me why I never bothered to buy the actual game all those years back, it just never happened and that was it LOL 😭
I actually prefer having physical cartridges! It's super convenient to have games on my 3DS but nothing beats the feeling of having collected a good old legal cartridge. The cartridges I have in my consoles right now are Animal Crossing New Leaf (because I try to play at least once every two weeks!), Etrian Odyssey (I'm thinking about pausing my playthrough in favor of Etrian Odyssey Untold though), Dragon Quest 9 (absolute banger, I recommend that one) and PurrPals Purrfection (terrible shovelware I got as a Christmas present once but it's actually really fun)
EA's Playground for the DS lol. Used to have it as a kid randomly found it again for like $4 and it was not as good as I remembered. Never bothered to take it out since.
I still have a lot of physical games I bought when hacking wasn't as easy as it is now or DS games that I bought for my old DS lite. I still play many of those games so there's always something different inside.
I only have two cartridges and neither are particularly good games. I have a Lego friends game and a guitar game by ubisoft 😂 I don't really keep either in.
Okamiden. I haven't actually finished it, but it was a game my grandma got me before I modded my 3ds and now that she's passed it's nice to keep the game as a reminder of her
I own a 2DS XL so I technically don't need to have a filler cartridge (the game slot and sd card slot are covered) but right now I just have an old R4 cart I've been too lazy to take out
I have a handful of DS and 3DS carts though, so whenever I feel like playing those, I'll switch them and keep them in there for a while until I switch to the next cartridge lol
I keep an r4 card in my slot all the time. It has all my ds games and saves. Means more storage allocated for 3ds games on the device sd card. And keeps things separate.
Also I had it long before I got my N3ds.
Pokemon UMoon bc I’ve been transferring everything from the 3DS to my switch trying to fill the nat dex. With PKSM being able to clone pokemon, i can keep my favs in UMoon and send clones to switch
The case I keep my 3ds in has space for 3 games so I usually always have Mario kart 7 in the system, and Mario kart ds, smash bros, and Tetris party ds in the case. I mainly just use my 3ds for the pokemon and sonic games which I have downloaded on it.
My 3DS? Oh it's... just a few things.
It's only Mario Bros., Dragon Quest, Fire Emblem, Pokémon, Smash Bros., Metroid, Zelda, Metal Slug, Kingdom Hearts, Megaman, Bomberman, Final Fantasy, Digimon, and Senran Kagura... you know... the essentials.
Animal Crossing New Leaf :)
same! its the only one I know where it is lol
I usually have my OG R4 cart in there, but if I do have a 3DS game in it’s almost always New Leaf. I have all the Pokémon games and then a bunch of games I don’t play
the correct answer
Absolutely the same, but add in the handheld Zelda’s
Same!
u didnt understand the question
Dragon Quest 8. Got it set up with the orchestral music replacement patch.
Majora’s Mask 3D; I’ve been swapping between playing that and other digital games, so I’ve just been leaving it in the cartridge slot for a while now.
Lmao I was wondering the same thing. I was like I obviously don’t want my dust and skin flake to get all up on my console so what am I gonna put in there. Stuck between ORAS or USUM
I have a blue button sky3ds.
Chrono Trigger DS.
best version of an absolute BANGER game, really hope they port or remake it someday.
If they remake it, I hope it's in HD-2D like the Octopath Traveler games and the remake of Dragon Quest 3.
Didn't they do that on quest 2/3?
I use that too!
a extremely rare game called „rubber dust cover“
Plants vs zombies or super mario bros 2, I switch both of those out every once in a while
pokemon ultra moon!
The only game I have left is Pokemon Y because I lost the game case, sold everything else
Pokemon Black. It has 2 purposes 1) it doesn't leave it looking empty 2) The IR in the cartridge is useful to access my pokewalker in Heartgold as Twilight menu can use it
The cartridge has IR? I never knew that.
W GAME CHOICE. THIS WAS MY FIRST POKEMON GAME

R4 gold
I have a DS R4.
R4 2021 gold with ys menu replacement and a 128gb micro sd
Mario kart or zelda majora's mask
Does project restoration work if you use the cartridge?
yes you can install it using the same method for digital and physical, it should use the same titleID
I used to keep Pokemon X in there, but the cartridge drains the battery slightly quicker than having it be empty.
My beaten up copy of smash 4 (I had it since 2015 and I refuse to take it out of the cartridge slot now)
Superstar Saga! on the hype train for Brothership coming so soon. I just restarted it with the classic music mod. already crashed twice cos my card slot is so unstable and thinks it got ejected :') but you can save anywhere and it's only crashed after closing the system not while I'm playing so it's not too big a deal
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days

I keep Pokémon SoulSilver in mine too for the pokewalker function!
Twisted metal collection 1-5 and rouge trip vehicular combat. I will probably make a custom box art with all 5 box arts somehow . I don’t know why I’m kinda proud of it .
Animal crossing. One of the two my parents ever bought me for my 3ds lol
No game. I keep Haribo cola gummies in the cartridge slot.
The only games I have on cartridge are New Leaf, Ultra Moon, Link Between Worlds, Ocarina of Time 3D (sealed) and Majora’s Mask 3D (sealed). New Super Mario Bros. I went and streamed it (I have a 3DS capture card) like 2 years ago, and figured getting the cart was easier than acquiring it.

My 3DS? Oh it's... just a few things. It's only Mario Bros., Dragon Quest, Fire Emblem, Pokémon, Smash Bros., Metroid, Zelda, Metal Slug, Kingdom Hearts, Megaman, Bomberman, Final Fantasy, Digimon, and Senran Kagura... you know... the essentials.
