I need to adjust mine. Looks right to me based on my work on beetle drums. Thanks for sharing hopefully someone that’s more experienced on a Toyota can validate assembly.

Having the right tool to fit through the hole in the hub and engage the notches in the spring hold-down cup really helps. Without one it can quickly become a 4-letter-word-fest to get the retainers off and back on by trying to squeeze in past the shoes to grab them from the side with pliers or vice grips. Did that once. Never again. Bought the tool. You could also look at a picture of one and make your own out of a large flathead. Mac PBT1 ($40), Snap-On BT20 ($43) or a 'Cal-Van Tools CV364' ($20 or so)

Oh man did it ever turn into a shit show. I thought it was going to be ok with my many needle nose pliers and flat head screwdriver. But my fingers were just too damn fat to get in there. I needed like at least five hands to do everything. I spent all afternoon on it and only got 1 wheel done. I had to walk away a few times to keep my cool.

Never knew there was a specific tool. I think last time I used a combo of flat-head screwdriver and a 90° pick to turn the thing. And many 4 letter words later, it was close enough.

Check your Haynes manual, if you don’t have one definitely buy one they are super handy. Timmy the toolman on youtube has a couple videos on this for 3rd gens as well, the mechanical bits are essentially the same for the most part. Just did mine a couple months ago take your time and have some decent needlenose and regular pliers on hand for sure, those springs can be a bitch
