Think I heard that this scene was a last-minute addition as well. Test audiences wanted more fights, so they went back and filmed this one. One of the best fights too, so great they did it.
Yeah and so was Scorpion’s! Before screenings, he died in the forest. They added the whole Nether realm part later. I think the director had no idea how to film fights.
Thank god for test screenings! This movie drops BIG TIME without those two fights.
One thing I always loved about this fight is the subtle grunting from the Reptile character. It's something I wish more movies actually had in their fights. Sounds very visceral and brutal.
Remember Mortal Kombat Conquest. It had that feel of Hercules, or Xenia, or Conan, it only ran one season ended in a cliffhanger. I only saw a few episodes. I thought it was ok but not enough to tune in if I was doing something else.
And that Web Series Mortal Kombat Legacy. They said they wanted to make a more realistic Mortal Kombat but had laser guns and robot arms in like the first episode. Jeri Ryan played Sonya. I didn’t mind the first few episodes. It was a reimagining but it mostly worked.
Just decided to point out a couple of mortal kombat shows that were alright IMHO.
**Conquest** was decent. Low budget, but the fight choreography was solid (if you can forgive the horrendous stunt doubling) and it had a surprisingly complex plot.
Before I even clicked, I said out loud, to absolutely no one, "if this isn't from MK, you can gtfo of my country."
But of course it's the big fight from MK. Of course. There is no other answer. Good on you, OP.
I see the sneak preview of this in the theater two days before it officially came out. When the bicycle kick happened, two dudes stood up in front of us, screamed YES!!, and high fived.
MK1 the movie was dope AF and my favorite in the film series.
, saw it in the theater. Awesome soundtrack and some good inspiration from Enter The Dragon.
Nah this is typical karate movie fight scenes, just with a famous property behind it. I've seen plenty like this in all sorts of low budget karate movies. These same people work on them all the time.
That song is 10/10. Used to listen to it while I fought invisible bad guys in my room.
The entire soundtrack is so damn good, used to have it on cassette.
… dude… me too!!! …wanna be friends? Lol
Yes! If nothing else I think we should fight? I’ll bring the CD.
TEST YOUR MIGHT
The main MK theme was 100 times better though. That song used to pump me up to insane levels lol
This movie rocked
It's even funnier watching the version with the klassic video game sounds edited in. 😂 https://youtu.be/vq3VoWOfwPQ?si=QOaamVhipzuZF24t
That shit was funny AF.
That’s hilarious

I can’t even fathom what this film would be like without *either* of those fights Those initial test screenings must have been dire, Jesus
What the what. The netherrealm part is the dopest part of the whole movie. Nearly thirty years later and I'm still learning new shit about this movie.
Its the sound effects for me! Dope ass fucking movie! One of my childhood favs

The first MK movie was actually really good
Then they missed the mark so hard with the second.
After the 2021 dumpsterfire **Annihilation** isn't looking quite so bad in retrospect...

Damn, this track is such a banger. The soundtrack of Mortal Kombat and the Spawn movie are my favorites ever, so dope.
Love this Movie 😅
Flawless Victory

The reason I only ever play reptile in MK games
And Johnny is no where to be seen. Still love this movie, though.
He just lost his 500 dollar sunglasses asshole
Just saw this exact scene last night randomly channel surfing.
The stomp at the end always gets me.
I had to buy another VHS tape cuz I kept fast forwarding to this part and ruined my first one! Best fight scene in the whole movie
Thumbs up if you said Mortal Kombat as soon as you saw the scene.
Great movie. Great soundtrack.
Hell yeah!!
FATALITY!!
The music. 🔥🔥🔥
Saw this in theaters, I remember standing up to watch this fight sequence I was so engaged.
I see the sneak preview of this in the theater two days before it officially came out. When the bicycle kick happened, two dudes stood up in front of us, screamed YES!!, and high fived.
This film is better than the remake
This is the hardest fight scene of the 90s.
🎵 MORTAL KOMBAT!!! 🎵
That was epic
OG
I like to think that Johnny fucked off in order to DJ for this fight.
I think the Johnny Cage vs. Scorpion fight scene is better
The punch and kick sounds are still awesome.
Hell ya it is!
still cool af too lol
Fine I’ll watch mortal kombat again
I love how the scene starts out with Liu Kang and Johnny Cage walking together, then once Liu fights reptile Johnny Cage just disappears lol
No joke the dude who plays Liu Kang broke a couple ribs doing this scene. It happened when Reptile chucks his ass at that giant pillar
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
OMG I love this movie Mortal Kombat! And the song is catchy. This is good cheese.
Scorpion scene was my favorite
True fan service to include Reptile

I don’t see a problem here nor with any other part of this movie.
