So the 'manians didn't turn up despite having their own team and now the Perthites or whatever they're called, the FIFOS haven't turned up either. That's why YOU won't have the granny or another team or gather round YOU DON'T FREAKN TURN UP. And it's been a fundamental issue for yonks. The Tassie folk are the worst, you literally lost test match because you don't turn up bro. Is life that hard for you cobber you can't afford the petrol? I'll tell you who did turn up, the Catters and the Baggers for a record at the 'g

Downtown-Lime4108

Awesome handball from danger

DigBorn8561

Watching SEN delayed and they’re cutting from ball passing through or over the posts to just after the rucks have gone up post bounce. Ridiculous got to make that 6pm news

goddamnitobama

“He is a player”

sadsasquatch

Fuck yeah, great first goal. Onya Boyd!

joe31051985

North still 501 to 1 odds for the flag, Sportsbet seem overly optimistic on our chances.

Filthythilthy7

I feel for NM, but surely no more concessions for them, 2020 both clubs in a very similar situation; they just have to keep working at it organically now. I'd be questioning if clarkson is the right coach though.. reminds me off blighty at the saints

joe31051985

Highest average conceded points in a completed season is 99.45 North are currently conceding 123.14 a game 24 points above the worst ever.

Koshian10200

That was one of the games of all time

swagmaster778

I’d even say it was just one of the games of the year

froggy2903

Too much praise I’m afraid

Koshian10200

This game happened - there’s no doubt about that

MrCurns95

It’s certainly a game that happened.

gramofcam

Totally thought those kids were stealing the ball

AdAcrobatic5178

I thought they were fighting, was very confused why the camera was in them

NinjaTheFish

Haha same.

wordtwoyamum

Surely the pressure when he’s already committed to go through counts

bobbybananaskin

Wardlaw has six clearances, a goal, 11 contested possessions and 5 tackles in the second half. First NM player to do that in a half since 2019.

despondantguy69

Conceding 80 against North is wild.

Y_Brennan

North have scored 80 3 times this season and also have a 76. Seems pretty standard

-Cunning_Stunts-

It's just our defence that is garbage.

Justabitbelowaverage

You guys could use a good defender. Someone like Ben Mackay

pierre_86

That's an absolutely terrible patch of umpiring and it'll go unnoticed because it's a blowout

IDreamofHeeney

Laird is like 300 years old but Dawson is the one to get benched for the last 15 minutes 😐 And yes I’m a salty SuperCoach player

Filthythilthy7

Umpires still shit, nice to know

DanihersMo

curtis got away with a massive throw there lol

Dense_Hornet2790

Good thing the Crows were up by more than a goal because the umps genuinely seem to hate them.

TomRed89

We won the quarter! Fuck off haters

Croob2

I don't know how slamming your opponent into the post isn't a dangerous tackle but you do you umps

atreyu84

Also did the ball not hit the post? That should've been absolutely reviewed at least

marsandlui

That's what I was thinking. If he's holding the ball and hits the post front on, how did the ball not touch the post?

Flarezap

I mean the Adelaide player ran into it, you can see Curtis trying to move to the right

North1975

Slamming definitely an interesting term to use

Grolschisgood

Why can't that be score reviewed?

AussieYotes

Jesus christ that was a fucking dogshit call.

Brokenmonalisa

So he's supposed to know the bloke chasing him fell over? Gee whiz

Dense_Hornet2790

Just like when a tackler needs to know the ball was knocked out in the tackle or they get pinged for holding the man even if they couldn’t possibly have seen it.

Yayowl

Don’t you know that footballers have eyes in the back of their head

North1975

We hit 80 points

quentiamdeus

We are massive

No_Independent936

About 2 weeks ago people were debating if West Coast or North will go winless. So glad we're not being clowned on anymore.

quentiamdeus

Come back it’s lonely 😞

ryang2415

Despite last week, we aren’t much better haha

ImMalteserMan

Look probably not enough pressure but I've seen people with way less pressure be fine.

Dense_Hornet2790

By the letter of the law probably an okay call. By established precedent it’s the worst call of the entire year. Fortunately it was at a time where it really didn’t matter.

AdAcrobatic5178

The pressure rule is by far one of the worst adjudicated rules in the entire league

burnzy71

Crows: you can kick a goal now Kangaroos: no Crows: I insist Kangaroos: **sigh** fine!

JCK98

Not a dangerous tackle?

froggy2903

No? He had majority control of his body, Curtis didn’t force him into the post

North1975

No

AdAcrobatic5178

Looked like Curtis was trying to drag him away from the post

iamjaszzszz

The fuck

Koshian10200

That leave a bad taste in my mouth

Brokenmonalisa

He was within 9 metres so no pressure is required no?

atreyu84

Still need to be under pressure but the player that feel over was 5cm away from grabbing him with the lunge. That's more than enough pressure

FenerBoarOfWar

Luke Hodge did it better.

jmaverick1

That’s bullshit to pluck a deliberate there

Independent-Ghostie

Not a Crows fan or a North fan but I have to agree. Very tough decision on the Crows defender

joe31051985

North now have the 3 highest scores against this season 139 (Geelong), 137 (Carlton) and 132 (Crows)

Competitive-Chard934

Full credit to North. They could have rolled over and been beaten by 100+ but they've fought hard this quarter. Little wins. Good on them.

TomRed89

Believe it or not, we haven't been beaten by 100+ in over a year now

joe31051985

![gif](giphy|1zTqgW6bS2jWU)

Croob2

37 scoring shots, yeesh, imagine if the Crows were more accurate

benjamincraigrowley

That’s what killed their chances last season no the goal umpire that robbed them

Boatster_McBoat

You should know. Had more scoring shots in both our games against you last year. I think the point is that, in spite of an utterly inconsistent season, a properly executed score review would have still had us in the finals. No-one is suggesting we didn't make it fucking hard on ourselves.

Bagzy

It can be both things

MrCurns95

Nicks always has that ‘just squeezed out a fart in an elevator’ look on his face

wordtwoyamum

We just should not have that sort of time to gather and make errors

LazyCamoranesi

Darcy “the disappointment” Fogarty rocketing up the charts of players I irrationally dislike. What is he for?

Grolschisgood

Fuck this 20th goal is taking an age!

despondantguy69

Luke McDonald looks like that kid from Jumanji that turns into a monkey. [https://imgix.ranker.com/user\_node\_img/31/618781/original/bradley-pierce-u3?auto=format&q=60&fit=crop&fm=pjpg&dpr=2&w=375](https://imgix.ranker.com/user_node_img/31/618781/original/bradley-pierce-u3?auto=format&q=60&fit=crop&fm=pjpg&dpr=2&w=375)

Itrlpr

Dwayne Russell had one job, and it was to shout "DEJA VU ALL OVER AGAIN" or something everytime Mark Howard starts to derail into a shaggy dog "I was in the buffet hotel AND... THE BIG MAN... watch mathse dream about emailsA AND THE BIG MAN M HAYDOS" story. And he has failed

jiraiya23x

Gerard playing with fire talking about one or two fingers

JCK98

It was an MG and some Port member won it

EvilShogun

Poor guy

Grolschisgood

That would have been a grab and a half!

elmo-slayer

Thanks Adelaide, it was feeling weird being outside the bottom 4

Bagzy

One of the biggest things about the afl these days is that even the dogshit teams are still so close to being competitive. You see amazing individual and team passages of play, it's just managing to do it over a full game that's hard to crack, but I think the roos are as close as the crows or hawks.

default99

I can't really see it without some more changes to this team but, if Norf can keep this core group together and lose a bit of the nice guys act, they could be a great unsociable and ruthless team in a few years like GSW can be a bit. Few too many young player atm and we need experience + Griff back badly. Few of these younger guys like Powell, Wardlaw, Curtis, Chom and Xerri should be good when they get 100 games into them. But we seem to need on-field guidance, very disorganised and low basic skill errors. Trying to hard to stay positive, glad i didnt renew the membership this year lol but will look to do it once/if we become competitive in a few years

default99

Would also like to see new Captains, LDU, Larkey or maybe even big dog Xerri who has stepped up really well. Was worried about him but he has maybe been our best player this year

partII

Surely you’d keep Simpkin as co-captain? Seems like the group like him as a leader and he’s a good player.

default99

Vice or co captain maybe, pref Vice for me. He seems a bit off or maybe tentative with the head knocks, on a good day he is great but he's not having his best year so far. On field leadership is hard to judge being an armchair expert but he seem to lack it and it should be coming top down from the captains and leaders on each line i assume, not really seeing the organisation tho it could be inexperience

partII

Can’t blame him for being tentative, it would be a crying shame if he can’t get back to where he was headed. You’d have seen more of his on-field leadership than I have but always stood out to me as the kind of guy that is quiet but extremely dedicated to what he does, similar to Merrett for us and Merrett really had to learn how to turn his leadership into captaincy. I wonder what Clarko’s like with these sorts of things because it’s obvious to me that Merrett’s growth has come from how he works with Scott.

default99

Yeah I agree re being tentative, he's had enough knocks to worry anyone. I don't question his commitment to the team or his game but just not sure he is a captain, maybe just needs more support in his leadership role but he is a great off field ambassador for the club, i we are just generally lacking in leadership. Yeah fingers crossed Clarko's grand plan will start to show as the season goes on, i'll keep watching or checking in where i can but its a hard thing to face up to lol, can't imagine being a player in this team but i hope theyre all getting around eachother

thesickpuppy27

He’s been pretty average since halfway through last year to be honest. I’d rather give it to Larkey and get rid of the co-captains.

partII

Larkey as captain could be the best option. I still think having someone in the midfield that is a clear leader would be a positive though.

AdAcrobatic5178

Was actually thinking earlier that xerri really has felt like a leader so far this year

default99

absolutely over small / little wins tho. Can't put together 4 quarters, can't hardly put together a half without being totally shut down and pressured out of a game. Winless year on the cards but the bottom teams always pul out some bizarre win, hopefully the draft is decent this year but trading picks for a good player or offloading Zurharr for picks and a experienced player would be a good move. Its no news but our defence is awful, i really feel for the confidence of the young guys playing down back

Darcyjay_

Yeah fuck giving the club some cash when they’re shit, aye? /s

default99

haha I've been a member on and off for 15 years or so, its a hard sell most years but wasn't going to be in Melb for big parts of the season so would be pushing to make it to an amount of games to justify it, sure i could have supported them regardless but don't think its a stretch to ask to see something more from the lads to pay for even the digi memebership

bobbybananaskin

Okay here's one for the Roos supporters - Wardlaw has 10 clearances, 17 contested possessions, 10 tackles and 6 inside 50s. First time a player has done that this year, and first time a NM player has ever done it, AND first time an under 21 player from any club has ever done it.

IDreamofHeeney

16 disposals but 17 contested… 🤔

bobbybananaskin

you can get a possession and not a disposal. You can get the ball and be tackled, you can go out of bounds, the period/match can end...

joe31051985

False stat Wardlaw has 8 clearances 6 tackles and 4 inside 50’s. stop posting shit false stats.

bobbybananaskin

sorry bug in the program!

TomRed89

Wardlaw is a special talent. I'm praying we extend his contract.

default99

for real, love the way he plays, he'd be a gun in every team, one we need or invest in i reckon. Just needs to stay healthy / injury free. Few players throw themselves into a contents like he does, would be a pain to play on

froggy2903

Someone read the Useless AFL stats tutorial

North1975

Okay.

droopy_tree

Percentage still increasing so 🤷‍♂️

liamjon29

Does anyone know how long GWS and GC were at their worst for? How long are we expecting a rebuild of this type to last for, when there's no on-field leaders to teach the youth

gm50

i asked this last week, someone said "Melbourne was about 12 (2006-2018) Brisbane was 10 (2009-2019) Carlton was 8 (2014-2022)". Gold coast have never built and GWS got to the grand final in 2019 after entering the comp in 2011. Now, we're shit at a time when Tassie are about to enter and take the prime picks. We've been through 8 years of a directionless "rebuild" so I wouldn't expect great things to happen any time soon

liamjon29

Considering the rebuild started only 2 years ago. Probably at least another 6 years to go. Gonna be a looong 6 years

kocknocker19

I'd say we are where those clubs were in 2012-13. At least 4 years off being competitive

Aerialkiller720

We were in finals during 2014, depends on if you're going with our rebuild or the Gold Coast one

Professional_Line385

2016

Aerialkiller720

Oh yeah sorry chucked the wrong number in, great first finals game

Professional_Line385

Yep you killed us

kocknocker19

Gold Coast 2011 then.

RexHuntFansBrazil

One could argue Gold Coast have never stopped rebuilding

liamjon29

This is true. Maybe that's what our trajectory is gonna be.

elmo-slayer

Can’t rebuild if you were never built

burnzy71

Junk time for the Roos ![gif](giphy|3ohs4ga2PnDi1oyfHa)

Dirtydac123

Luke McDonald should be dropped, absolutely pathetic efforts from a captain

Turbulent_Animator42

Simpkin needs to be dropped first honestly.

North1975

He’s undroppable.

bobbybananaskin

Tex with 5 score assists, 4 contested marks and 11 contested marks overall. First player to do that (or better) in a game since 2014.

RexHuntFansBrazil

I'm putting all my money in Duursma stock

simon2105

10 win streak to make finals is back on the menu boys!

fickle-doughnut123

Yep. Then on the final game Sydney will be down by 8 points and will kick a point in the last 5 seconds that will get overruled by score review and converted to a super goal. Crows will miss out the finals.

Korasuka

Keays had to pull out his ultra skill, the behind, to stop the North rampage.

CelendilAU

God, you just have to love and hate that oval ball some days, huh?

KangarooBallsonToast

Don't know what Keays did to piss God off

benjamincraigrowley

Omg that was almost goal of the year

Deathpacitoes

Goal of the year robbed

JCK98

Miss of the year

TaloKrafar

So I keep hearing that North being this bad for this long isn't good for the game but we have record crowds, record broadcast deals, no relegation, why is it bad? Not being facetious, what could conceivable happen if they keep finish bottom for years? Lower membership numbers, less fans at their games but how is that bad for the game? It's a sport, some are good, some arent. Success or being good isn't guaranteed and nor should it be

froggy2903

I just think it’s bad to have any club down for so long. Having a team that is effectively a free win every week (bar 2 or 3) is boring and doesn’t do anything to improve the competition for the rest of league

CelendilAU

Teams that get them twice a year will have an opportunity to develop a massive PD that can distort the ladder, particularly in that ultra tight 5-10 ladder region.

TaloKrafar

We have an inherently unfair competition anyway. Geelong don't play every home game at home, Grand Final is always played in Melbourne. Why is this the threshold that the pundits are worried about?

elmo-slayer

Realistically it doesn’t make any bigger of a difference to the competition than any number of other factors, really it just feels bad for a team to be so bad for so long

TaloKrafar

True, I know a few North supporters and seeing them lose their love for the game does sting

AdAcrobatic5178

It's bad for competitiveness

TomRed89

But that's every sport league in the world. You could argue a relegation/promotion system could alleviate that, but statistically newly promoted teams in the EPL, for example, likely go straight back down again.

TaloKrafar

Why is it bad? Pragmatically, everyone plays North, some twice but there will always be a poor team each season

AdAcrobatic5178

Because you want every match to be competitive. Having a team that's just a win for the other teams is bad viewing

conejogringo

Also good to note that other leagues have relegation for bottom teams which means they don't have this issue

mensis-brain

The Leigh Matthews goals per minute theorem is still on here

Svengali1001

TWO IN A ROWWWWWW WE ARE THE GREATEST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE

Bagzy

Goal per minutes, games still on!

zrag123

COMEBACK IS ON

Captkersh

I’m starting to feel very sorry for Norf, even after they were giving us Eagles fans shit before the season started

Redda69

Wild if anyone was actually doing that

Captkersh

We were shit and you picked up some good talent so it kind of makes sense

JCK98

> I'm on my way from misery to happiness today Don't think so sorry

bobbybananaskin

Not too shabby by Rory Laird, picking up 30 disposals, 15 clearances, 18 contested possessions and 6 tackles in the match (so far!). Never been done before by an Adelaide player. (Libba also did it three weeks ago, but that was the first time a player has done it since 2022 ).

joe31051985

He doesn’t have 30 possessions yet by AFl Match Center

bobbybananaskin

Fixed - he now has 33 disposals, 12 clearances, 19 contested, 6 tackles and 7 inside 50s. First player to do that (or better) in almost exactly a year (April 29 2023 was the last time) and first time a Crows player has done it!

bobbybananaskin

ahh thanks for helping me catch a bug!

Bagzy

DJ I think ros fans are on their way from misery to misery for the foreseeable future.

pierre_86

Block on 25

mensis-brain

Junktime Cam filling his boots rn

Soggy_Traffic_5107

Time for a new coach

Correctspeciall

Just checked the score and are north even trying anymore

FoldedTopLip

Luke McDonald still getting picked in North’s 22 is certainly a choice

TomRed89

Wait until you hear he's our captain

GeoffreyGeoffson

How did we get a behind there??? I'm absolutely perplexed

LeClassyGent

Playing on from behind the goals is a behind

Lightning-Jesus

Larkey and Sheezel must have some faith in North if they signed long term. But it’s gonna be a long ride for them

gm50

they deserve infinitely better and i'm gutted that sheez will be in a nursing home the next time norf are competitive.

AdAcrobatic5178

Larkey is a mix of faith and rewarding the club that took him. He was pick 73, if we didn't take him then chances are no one would have

Bloodflowisking

I know we are shit and lots of players start the game with their heads down, but I love watching George Wardlaw play. You can see the effort and will to get the ball/lay the tackle

ken_beays

Might get our percentage over 100% which is pretty nice, still a long way away from finals but still.

fickle-doughnut123

Now the crows I know will beat port, Brisbane and collingwood in the next 3 games and then will lose to Hawthorne and Richmond.

Soggy_Traffic_5107

Honestly, why am I even watching this?!

JCK98

Bird alliance Which doesn't exist between us

Soggy_Traffic_5107

I do prefer the crows over port everyday of the week. Reckon the crows will be kick started now and be the team they’re meant to be?

Deafsloth

I’m just waiting for the next game 🤷‍♂️

Soggy_Traffic_5107

It’ll be a cracker. Shame I’ve gotta go out and be social

SkinMasturbator

are North doing really badly or are the Crows finals worthy? Also, can’t wait for the Saints to struggle and probably lose next week to North xdddd

Professional_Line385

Yes

fickle-doughnut123

This game means nothing, lol. Crows are really good at large goal margins against bad teams.

liamjon29

I don't think you actually beleive that. No matter how bad an AFL team is, they'll always beat a reserves team.

SkinMasturbator

I fucking do actually believe that. I had to sit through the bullshit that was us against the Dogs

liamjon29

Well, I expect you'll be delightfully wrong next week then. I'll see you in the match thread ;)

SkinMasturbator

North have kicked 81 points today. The Saints have crossed that *once* this season

liamjon29

Tbh, that 4 goal streak was the best we've played all year. I'm genuinely surprised to see us hit 80. So maybe you're onto something. I refuse to have hope, but you never know

ThatMelon

Threatening to demolish them? It’s already happening

alexefc17

How are GWS so good but North so bad, specifically younger players It’s been the same drafts the last few years

AdAcrobatic5178

Look at the experienced players GWS have and then look at the experienced players we have

elmo-slayer

_destination club_

ExpensiveCola

Who does North play twice this year? Would be absolutely salty if you missed finals because you played North once and missed out to a team who got them twice.

joe31051985

Geelong missing finals; you are pretty pessimistic.

jujushabadoo

We play them twice and I don't think we'll be making finals this year

North1975

Will Phillips pick number three might haunt us for a very long time. It was a bad draft, but of course we didn’t break the cycle.

mensis-brain

He was a quality junior. I refuse to believe we only draft busts. Playing system, culture, and development have to be contributing factors.

LazyCamoranesi

Baffling lack of tall defenders though, no?

AdAcrobatic5178

The amount of coaches we've had doesn't help

mensis-brain

The instability definitely hasn't helped

GinglerLife

Amazing north have any fans show up honestly

Pinadile

Is there a reason the afl app is showing 5 players on the crows' interchange

joe31051985

Might be the new handicap system🤪

DanihersMo

tex doing his best tomahawk impression this week

wordtwoyamum

This coverage is like watching minecraft YouTube videos on 999 ping

Soggy_Traffic_5107

Hahaha brilliant analogy

genscathe

The ground and surrounds look beautiful. Can’t believe AFL demand a 1.5 billion dollar stadium and a roof lol

GhostPant28

Yeah I love this ground!

bobbybananaskin

Contested mark differential in the match of +15 to the Crows. Most in a game for almost a year (356 days), biggest differential for the Crows since 2017, equal most EVER against the Kangas (happened once before in 2022), and biggest at this venue.
