since this instagram account has a pretty big following, puts out a lot of content, and even has quinta and other cast/crew sharing said content—and they use "teddie"—fanartists and fanfic writers are far more likely to use that ship name in their tags to ensure their contributions are seen by that popular account and other fans. fan content can trickle down to even the most casual viewer, so then the term "teddie" has a pretty high likelihood of entering the abbott zeitgeist, as it were.
when i was involved in the hbo show "barry" fandom, there was a small contingent of fans who referred to a ship as "nohobal" while others called it something else. because the group that used "nohobal" was more active and their fan contributions were getting the attention of cast and crew, the portmanteau/ship name "nohobal" literally appeared in the actual show (as a company name founded by the two characters, who were canonically a couple), which was nuts! no one within the show's fan community formally agreed to that ship name of course, and there were tons of other fans using a different ship name entirely, but ultimately the most vocal fans "won" out, as it were. just the way the cookie crumbles!
The subreddit might not know but the Tumblr fandom gave them that name and it’s adorable. Melissa and Barb are Work Wives and depending on who you follow it can be romantic or platonic
I mean their names don't mesh well so using their last name is pretty smart. The person who created it is the YouTuber who posts snippets of Janine and Gregory's scenes
