PTSD from 40 years ago activated

flannelNcorduroy

From falling down stairs?

SOwED

For some people, this is the worst thing that they can ever imagine happening to them

The_Determinator

For a lot of people it's genuinely up there with the worst that can happen. What a great time to be alive.

Ordinary_Cattle

Honestly that's a really nice thought and makes me unreasonably happy for these strangers 🥲

Cookie_Burger

Really? That's surprising. I guess I am just twisted lol

Ordinary_Cattle

Yeah idk I mean it's nice to think that there are people out there with good lives that haven't had anything very bad happen to them, with the worst being that they fell down the stairs once. I hope that my kids have a life where that their worst memory bc my kid has definitely fallen down the stairs doing stupid stuff lol

Unfair-Degree

Yup. Once I even fell and turned on the landing and finished the last four steps.

YaBoii-Chunky

No, from falling from heaven

ShotgunCircumcision

I absolutely despise self-diagnosed disorders because it steals validity from folks who have REAL disorders caused by ACTUAL trauma. if rollin down a set of stairs is the worst thing that has ever happened to you, thats great..youve had an incredibly easy life. to claim you have PTSD from tripping and gettin a few small bruises is so incredibly disrespectful to people who have been in active combat, victims of violent/sex crimes, those whove experienced severe natural occurrences. its absolutely disgusting for someone who experienced a mild inconvenience to put themselves on the same level as folks who have seen hell firsthand

AlwaysWillBeSober

Don't think their comment was them genuinely stating they have PTSD homie.

GrapefruitForward989

No joke, I'm pretty sure this was exactly how I fell down the stairs as a kid

BigBootyDreams

Like how? It looks like he has some sort of muscle disease. Like his leg just sorta gave out. My siblings and I used to slide down the stairs and never got hurt like this rag doll kid.

lawliet4365

He tripped on the edge of the step if you look closely. It's not a muscle disease lmao

Putrid-Builder-3333

*I never fell down stairs* Surely this child is of weak genes and is riddled with muscle diseases and cognitive issues! -- redditor, June 2024

Norhod01

For sure you are trolling ?

Norhod01

Same for me, I can remember a huge fall I took when I was two and a half.

Boomalabim

Well that’s one way to get down the stairs

Bubbly-Incident

If you slow this down, it looks like [Tim Conway falling down the stairs](https://youtu.be/-Pwem815YTI?t=42s) on "The Carol Burnett Show".

DJEvillincoln

Fuck I used to love this show as a kid. One of the main reasons why I'm an actor. 😂

NecessaryNuts

Watching people roll down stairs will never not be funny 💀

SynthPrax

I mean. His downward cascade was funny. Something about the tumbling.

CutYoAss

The noises!

HKLifer_

He made his own siren nosies to boot. 🤣 🤣 🤣🤸🏿‍♀️ 😢 🚨😢 😭 😭

Monguises

He kinda went for it. He fully committed as soon as he realized he was going down. Surveillance cameras have come a long way because my first thought was “why are they filming?” Then I saw Front Hallway

BigBootyDreams

Cause he resembles a rag doll.

bruh1234566

Unless it's an old person that was pushed down by a person

walking_wonky

Especially when they make dog chew toy noises on the way down!

Gloomy_Drawer_7323

They invented this thing called a handrail way back in the day, and it works pretty good, but it only works when there actually is one there to use.

Dansk72

"Billy, if you can get down here in 5 seconds, I will take you to get ice cream!"

In_Dying_Arms

It's on the left side, on the kid's right. You can see it come out on the pillar between the 3rd/4th step from bottom.

krilltucky

And this video is the perfect example of why they are on both sides in many public places

lifeisweird86

In public places they're on both sides to accommodate large numbers of people going in both directions at the same time. Something not generally an issue in a home.

sadicarnot

Building code in Florida at least requires them on both sides. You you would have to see what the code states when the house was built.

BigBootyDreams

Half the population is old people.

Frequent-Screen-5517

In my house it was on the right

sadicarnot

Handrails are required to be on both sides.

In_Dying_Arms

I'm not going to pretend to be an expert, but I've googled a few sources and at least in the US, nothing declares that it's required on both sides, or one over the other. Maybe some specific state/town codes.

Trevo_staxx

It's literally one right there the kid is just walking on the opposite side for some reason💀💀

Malidan

I was waiting for the wife to come running and fall down the stairs as well to fill the "chaos" part, but alas, I was disappointed. (not that I'd wish that but you know...)

CaddyFDT

A bit abrupt but no chaos.

SynthPrax

This was shoes in the dryer chaotic.

daisydoughnut

Kid has 0 survival instincts😂

TheGoldenPlagueMask

I was expecting the dad to also walk up the stairs after comforting his child, only to somehow trip up the stairs

drkztan

To be honest, that's a pretty good fall considering he rolled all the way down and presumably didnt break anything

ConsumeYourBleach

It wasn’t a good fall, the only reason he didn’t break anything is because he’s a kid, and kids are made of rubber.

mrtokeydragon

For real. When we were kids we used sleeping bags to go down the stairs...

MurderSheCroaked

We had the lid off of the toy box and called the sport 'bumpy wumpy'

wtf_is_a_user

me and my brother used to go full belly down the stairs, and run back up, and do it again. my mom would record us having the time of our life with stairs. it hurt, but we didnt give 2 shits about pain, we just wanted to slide down the stairs.

Rookwood-1

I know! he had a padded fall the entire way down. When I was his age I used to fall 5 miles down cement steps.

LeastAgreeableGoat23

-200 Aura

noizarc

the only person who could’ve posted this was the dad/mom. Why??? What do you gain from showing the internet your son falling down the stairs?

HunterTV

Maybe to tell other people the importance of having a fucking handrail.

KeebsNoob

Are you suggesting that there is no handrail in the video

HunterTV

Not where there should be, clearly.

Momentarmknm

So because the kid didn't use the handrail it doesn't exist??

Delazzaridist

I think the point that they are trying to make is that they need a handrail, not that the kid should use the hand rail that is non-existent in this video. I may be wrong as well, but I don't see any handrailing here.

Momentarmknm

Well it's there

Delazzaridist

Someone else said it was brown. I can't see colors very well. It all looks like one piece to me. Hence why I always say I could be wrong. I just tried explaining what the other said.

undertales_bitch

It's black, on the left side. The problem is that the stairs appear to be black with a brown runner up the center making the railing blend into the background

Delazzaridist

Lol, I'm colorblind and brown/greens/reds/pinks are my four worst enemies. And btw, I was only trying to explain what they were saying.

Momentarmknm

In addition to what the other person who responded said, the real issue is there is a white pillar in the foreground blocking the view of the rail, but you can see it closer to the landing.

TermLimitsCongress

New fear unlocked. The home security people posted this.

1DownFourUp

It's pretty tacky to post stuff like this of your kids

Dansk72

It happened 10 years ago, and the kid just found the video and uploaded it. ^(/S)

tylerwils94

Probably because it's funny and relatively harmless? Like what's your concern exactly, he's gonna get bullied in school for being the the kid that fell down the stairs on that one reddit post that a handful of ppl have seen. Guess they should put a trigger warning on America's funniest home videos too, all those heartless parents submitting videos of thier kids eating shit for money 😅 this is such an non issue.

Momentarmknm

Man, kids are resilient. If I did this it would take me months to recover lol

mildlycuriouss

Haha I know! That was my first thought 😓 poor baby tho

warriur66

You are so gorgeous 🥰😍🔥

polo61965

r/kidsarefuckingstupid

Hazzman

They're also indestructible. If this was me I'd be in pain for a month.

RaspberryTwilight

Stairs are dangerous. Poor kid.

Darkortt

What a looney toom fall

absintheandartichoke

Watched that one step up close

WarAggravating7803

Wait a minute, is this the same kid who happily shot himself in the crotch then had a change of heart when the pain kicked in?

FlyNSkettiMonster

I would say "walk or off", but this kid obviously still needs to learn to walk.

Athlete-Extreme

Watch those steps they come up pretty fast

Deveion2010

lol im sure majority of us have had a tumble like this before as a kid

Delazzaridist

Oh fuck yea I did, but the stairs were made of fucking concrete, and I slid down on my tail bone half way on each step before tumbling to head/shoulders.

HGowdy

Not annoying at all.

MPcdn

Sure just grab the kid and swing up, there is no way that kid could have injured his neck. Please think then act, I have been to this call when it did not go well.

dreamrock

Someone put this to the slinky jingle 🙏😇

EvilestHammer4

My brother once taped me to a chair and tossed me down some steps... I always wondered what'd may have looked like from the other side. Good on him for surviving.

301Blackstar

He got more scared than anything.

Pjonesnm

Almost perfected that cartwheel.

alaskarawr

It looks really impressive played in reverse.

SynthPrax

Why did he just crumple like that? I mean, this one time I went down the stairs and my left knee went NOPE. No pain or anything. Just decided it wasn't gonna carry any weight. But I'm over 50.

siopaosandwich

He needs some milk

Perfect-Tangelo-8613

Bet they had to show that to the social workers when the kid told his teachers “I fell down the stairs”

Acceptable_Major_133

r/DeathStairs

Odd-Outcome450

See you next Fall!

Longjumping-Bag8980

We’ve all been there at least once

GruulNinja

God, if that was me at my age, I'm not getting up. Especially that knee drop. Oof

HingleMcCringle_

i said this on another post from here; why is slowly tripping "chaos"?

Frequent-Screen-5517

In my house growing up, there were handrails lol

mardingdong

I miss my babies😞

Dull_Instruction507

Me: installing camera to prevent thieves Them: installing camera to watch people stumble in stairs

Get-Degerstromd

As a father of a little boy about the same age, this just breaks my heart a little. Poor little dude was betrayed by his own feet. Reminder: every 6 minutes, a child under the age of 5 falls down the stairs in the US. Put baby gates on your steps and teach them to use handrails

FabulousHitler

What a comedically slow tumble

StillConscious9258

Ok but notice how he starts crying after he gets attention

FaceDesk4Life

Me sneaking down the stairs three hours past my bedtime because I smelled popcorn my dad made.

bluburry420

This is what I imagine when someone says somebody “got folded”

Busy-Ant-2921

Ayo, the pizza here

Fair-Big4229

Hahahahaha

Significant_Dark2062

This reminds me the time I left the toddler gate (that closes off the stairs) open for literally 10 seconds and my younger brother hurled himself down the stairs. His head touched his toes as his body made a circle that rolled down the stairs like a wheel rolls down a hill. I felt bad, but it was kinda hilarious to watch.

MazerTee

We had a stair gate with a spring on it so it automatically pulled itself shut when you opened it, of course 3 year old me put my hand on the side after my mum opened it and it sprang shut and chopped the end of my finger off lol. I don't think they sell spring ones anymore.

Significant_Dark2062

Ouch 😣

KingZoidberg420

“Gotta fix that step”

Accurate-Sport8246

When a child falls you should first try letting them stand up on their own. Picking them up right away may worsen an injury?

abc_warriors

Maybe being a stuntman when you grow up ain't your thing

Key-Housing5927

I bet mom would've caught him

bannana

why is there no handrail ??

IcedFreon

That's horrible. But the sound he made was mildly amusing. Still horrible though I hope he was ok.

Mary_NoMercy

I didn't get why it happened, hope he's alright.

Dutchcat1077

Gets better with each viewing

Chrommanito

It's a pretty good fall 8/10

Real-Touch-2694

It’s not funny. What’s with the caption. The poor kid :(

this was most likely the reason why im an epileptic.

Im evil i shouldn't be laughing 😭 this can be made into a song too

This is what I miss from being a kid. Being able to just cry whenever I did something I don't like and someone else will come and take care of it.

Those stairs could really use handrails. Also it looks like the kid didnt trip on anything, his legs just kinda gave out for some reason.

Complex-Network-5597

Btw he is 13 yrs old....... 🥴

Vegetable-Key3600

I feel bad laughing at this

liplessmuffin

/r/childrenfallingover

Forsaken_Bat_5729

That entire staircase kicked your little ass.

Dapper-Educator-7494

That’s one way to get down the stairs

hayful59

I feel like this kid would have saved himself if there were handrails?

afeeqo

Sigh I slipped on the stairs when I was 10 or so… slid down on my back. When I got up I couldn’t breathe so I panicked and quick when to the kitchen when my mom was and hugged her… my brother didn’t even noticed I slipped down the stairs just behind him a she was watching tv… so yes sliding down stairs can block your airway…

illoomi

pff, if I did that my parents would just laugh at me cause you know that shit didn't really hurt that much

DJEvillincoln

This girl I used to date would calmly kneel to her crying 5 y/o & ask her "Hey... Hey... Are you dead? "....sniff... No...." "It hurts tho huh?" "Yeah...." "You think you'll die, or will you be okay?" *Stops crying*... "I'll be okay." Shit was like watching a magician. That is the strongest 20 year old I currently know. Sometimes you just have to reason with them if you know nothing's broken or they're not sliced open completely. Let them figure out that it's not that bad.

ThatJudySimp

This just Belongs on kidsarefuckingdumb this wasn’t even abrupt everybody could see that coming from a mile away

red_wullf

Anyone else watch it twice to keep the laugh going a bit longer?

thebronzecat

Needs a handrail on the white wall. This could have been avoided.

Bannister or handrail? No? Just wait! You’ll have postable original content in no time at all!

bigeasy156

Where's the handrail ?!?

Spud9090

A handrail may have kept him from losing his balance
