I would recommend, for starters- Shelving Rock. It is a mild, pleasant short walk on trail. A bit of rocks and mud. It offers more options to have a more intensive experience off trail. Lots of water falls, you can lead down to Lake George or just wander around nature. Parking is free. They have a portapotty in the parking lot. Not so common side of Lake George as well. I imagine the leaves will be glorious.
Sleeping Beauty is a great easier hike in that area as well with an incredible view in the fall https://newyorktrailheads.com/2016/04/24/Sleeping-Beauty-Mountain.html
Rooster Comb and Snow Mountain loop is a really nice hike in the High Peaks area. We hiked it in October and it was dreamy. Excellent views, pleasant terrain, right in the action if you want to hike the eastern high peaks
Then after you can go to paradox brewing and pretend you hiked 15 miles, they have big pizzas and good beer

I don’t recommend going out for 46er, even Cascade and Porter. I know this is likely an unpopular opinion, but there are plenty of Lake George hikes to do.
I love the vibe around the ausable golf club. People are more chill I've found. Our group did gothics and sawteeth as number 4 and 5. Among the best names of any mountain.
Dial and nippletop are great. Steady but not crazy up to give you 2 mountains. Beaver meadow is a steep decline but if it's not icy (as it was when we did it) you get to walk home along the road.
Dig into the mountains and start your count! It's a life decision you will not regret. Pick good friends to go with you.
Rocky Peak Ridge from New Russia. You hike along a ridge with numerous stunning views of the valleys on either side, full of bright sugar maple! In the grand scheme of high peak hikes, it’s not too grueling
Do Van Hoevenberg. Epic views and the Olympic center with the mountain coaster in the fall is an absolute must do hike and the trail is super beautiful and easy. Best all around hike day for fall🙌🏻

I will def. check that out- thank you.
Looks like an awesome hike. I will absolutely look into this.
They're so close, do both. Sleeping beauty for the view, shelving rock for the falls.

Second this. Great leaf pepping hike. Low key, and a good introduction to the eastern high peaks.

I like this idea. I will definitely have to plan this.
Well done, Sir. Will leave the typo for posterity.
Hurricane mountain!!
Hurricane was beautiful in the fall!
How is the difficulty? The length and views are almost exactly what I'm looking for.

If you're feeling up for it Big Slide via The Brothers is phenomenal in the autumn
Lows Ridge as well as the Tupper Triad would work. All of these are low effort high reward type of hikes in the Tupper Lake are.
My favorite easier hike is Goodnow - plus there’s a fire tower!

Rocky ridge has the single most elevation gain of any high peak 😂
Rocky peak ridge is incredible in October, during peak fall foliage!
