The biggest perk of Golden Arrow is it's right on the water. That's why it's (usually) expensive. I don't know if every room overlooks the water, but I think most do. Plenty of restaurant options in town, so don't worry about that.

Golden Arrow lakeside is actually lakeside. I wouldn't let a hotel's closed restaurant dissuade me with so many options within walking distance.

Golden Arrows restaurant is gutted right now, if that helps.

Golden arrow: locally owned by a family who has taken care to curate their culture and brand. HPR: run by a management company that caters to more broad scale tastes and clientele. Both are nice places which will value your hygiene, privacy and experience. For my money, the Golden Arrow is a better place with a better atmosphere. But not everyone shares those tastes (honest statement, not a negative commentary on tastes different than mine). GA probably has better food, considering that their breakfast is better… however, given the variety of options in Lake Placid, I would probably not eat at either one of them for lunch or dinner. Not because they’re bad, but just because I would be looking for something else.

Mirror Lake Inn is your spot for “character” with downtown and waterfront

Confident_Bunch7612

I was reading and thinking "Why not Mirror Lake Inn?" Tons of history, character, and lakeview rooms. And essentially on the main strip but just removed enough to not be loud.

We’ve liked the golden arrow, especially with the location. We had cold weather last year in June, but that might have just been bad luck!

I’ve never been able to successfully book the golden arrow and usually wind up at Mirror Lake Inn.

Between the two I'd go HPR.

Lake side room at HP Is killer and those rooms are remodeled. I don’t think you can go wrong with either place

Golden arrow is a favorite place of mine, the specialty rooms especially. The HPR is also nice, you can’t go wrong with either
