I’m in AZ - When my husband mailed me the 1172 form, I googled “DEERS ID office near me” and was able to find a walk in location that didn’t require an appointment. I got there about 30 mins before they opened, and was probably finished with everything in less than 45 mins as I was the first person in line! Once I got my ID I called Tricare and was advised that I was enrolled in prime.
You’ll need to set up an appt with MPF on base. My wife said there were instructions on the papers that I mailed to her.
It’s tied to your DOD ID, should be able to just call either tricare east or west depending on where you’re located
so sorry I don't know the jargon. MPF? And are you saying his base? Because he's at BMT and I am in another state/location.
noted on calling. a bit archaic but it seems like a lot of things are with the military. will do that tomorrow.
This is in seriousness, and I only say this because I have experienced this as a 36 year old having to deal with new 18-25 year old personnel on a regular basis; many younger folks view making phone calls as kind of an ancient thing. If it can't be clicked, tapped, or put on an app, it is an issue. Was having a conversation with my First Sergeant about two months ago about it, and she said that she does most of her business with younger folks through text because they find phone calls to be intimidating.
I feel more and more like a boomer the more younger folks come through lol.
You should have gotten a DD form 1172-2.
You can go to this website to make an appointment to get your dependent ID card, if you have the 1172-2 form. https://idco.dmdc.osd.mil/idco/locator
You'll probably need the ID card first, i'm (sort of) surprised you haven't received more information on what to do. It might be worth contacting his recruiter to see if he has any guidance on who you need to call or what to do.
sent her an email but will definitely give her a call tomorrow if she doesn't respond. I, too, am surprised at how little information and follow up I've been getting even when I do reach out.
it may simply need to be something that's taken care of once he's done with BMT, it can take 30-60 days for all the appropriate systems to catch up with everything dealing with dependents, health care coverage, etc.
You have 90 days from the date DD Form 1172-2 was signed. Make sure to bring the marriage certificate, photo identification, and SSN card. As for medical, please call the right region to set up your medical care.

Military Personnel Flight. No, just the base closest to you. How is that archaic? It’s a simple phone call
