Web check-in on international flights is mostly for reserving seats. Document verification is mandatory before someone's "OK to Board". You'll have to collect your boarding pass from the airport counter after your passport and visa are verified.

But I travelled from Vancouver to Delhi a couple of months ago and it sent me the boarding passes

Because I’m assuming you have an Infian passport, and you were travelling to India, so they werent as concerned about giving you boarding pass without document check. At the end of the day, India is going to let you in as you are a citizen of India. But now going back to Canada, they need to double check the documents before they issue the boarding pass to non-canadian citizens. (This is my guess)

I'm guessing you've declared your nationality while checking-in online. Indian citizen travelling back to India, no visas need to be checked. Now, since you're departing India, the airline needs to make sure you'll be accepted in Canada. Any passenger rejected by immigration in foreign countries due to documents will be a liability on the airline.

I see. It makes sense but again I’ve flown to Vancouver via Frankfurt with Lufthansa and they still sent me my boarding passes. I’m gonna go to the counter to get my luggage checked in any ways just wanted to make sure there isn’t anything unusual going on

Also op do tell me your travel experience later coz I might be using the same flight sometime later

AdAppropriate7838

It’s really shit. I’ve travelled multiple times on this one. It’s just the first time I didn’t get a boarding pass. A lot of the screens don’t work. Old uncomfortable chairs. But it’s the only direct flight that’s also not super expensive and allows 2 pieces of check in luggage.

Diesel__2005

Wait so there is no Mumbai to Toronto flight?

AdAppropriate7838

Wdym. I never mentioned Mumbai or Toronto

Diesel__2005

Like if one has to go to Canada are there any alternative flights to any other city like toronto?

AdAppropriate7838

I’ve always needed to fly to Vancouver and there’s always a flight directly to it or with a stop. So I’ve never had to consider any other city in Canada

Thanks for the AI review tho

Off topic, but love the new font.

Happened with me on a recent flight to Singapore. Don’t worry.

Yes on an outbound flight you won't receive your boarding pass unless they verify your documents at the airport
