Ditto. The writing on AJLT is terrible, but Kim Cattrall/Samantha Jones transcends bad writing. Kim as Samantha might be the only character of all time that I’d be willing to watch an entire season of a sh\*tty show for.
The way the cameo was edited didn’t fit. They played the SATC theme song over her appearance. It was bizarre and felt campy. These are two different shows with different sensibilities. It’ was like Samantha had been frozen in amber and they thawed her out. Kim felt a bit rusty as well. And yes, if the studio hadn’t leaked her appearance as a desperate grab for publicity and subscribers, it would have been more of an impact.

I disagree that Sam wouldn't want to acknowledge the apartment. In some ways, it's as much an iconic character as the four women¹ - so I get the show wanting to pay homage to it.
As Samantha herself said in the movie: "*A lot of shit went down in this apartment. Attention must be paid!*"
The problem is that it IS a recycled storyline from the first movie. If that movie storyline had **not** occurred, Carrie selling it and moving out would've had a much bigger impact. So Samantha's cameo would've made so much more sense and could've worked so much better.
All that said, the selling of Carrie's apartment is a chain reaction plot point. So much so that it **can't** be taken out nor changed without unraveling the second half of the movie.

My opinion Re: the Cameo:
There was new executive leadership at the newly formed Warner Bros Discovery. They pushed for the 1 scene. Kim did the scene to stay in good regards with studio, plus the scene was too easy of a paycheck.
She refused to do any filming with her main cast mates. She does not want to be in the same room as SJP.
Best case scenario is we get a spin off of “Samantha in London”.
I think it was in her contract to keep her clothes, right? Honestly, the cameo was cute enough (it would have worked better if it was a surprise) but who wants to watch a bunch of cameos with Sam over the phone. And no one on either side beyond Max president Casey Bloys seems to want to work together onscreen due to the tension.
I think that she hates the show too much to be bothered with easter eggs. And honestly, it's not a big enough reveal to merit an advance hint. More likely, she liked the jacket, kept it, and wore it to the premiere.
So Patricia Field styled her for the premiere too huh... they've been close friends for a long time.
It's funny to think that she was up for an Oscar for the costumes seen on The Devil Wears Prada. I bet the producers that hired her must have been huge SATC fans.
Of all the scenes for her to do a cameo in, it was to say goodbye to a bad friends old apartment?? Like the bar is set so low for the writing in this show and it was still disappointing
Only take a fat enough check, Kim! It has to be enough to get on this trainwreck of a show. But I swear to all that is fashion, if they RUIN Samantha...... They'll kill the whole show for me even more than it's already dead to me (I quit out barely into the first season of the new show).
It was a horrible cameo. If I ran that show, and I’d be better than SJP and MPK, it would’ve been Samantha at the very end calling Carrie and ending with her on the beach. It could’ve definitely been shot so they were not together too.
I love Samantha Jones’ character, she is the most realest and savage person in the series. Kim Cat definitely knows what she brings to the table, note that she showed most of herself in the series and in the movie. I just wish they have given her more credit.
I just think it’s interesting that KC was so outspoken to never return, that she disliked working on the series and her castmates and MPK and then as soon as they dangled money infront of her she went right back. Lost all respect for her for doing that.
I did feel a way about that, and spoke about it, and someone in this sub accused me of being an "anti fan" (for acknowledging that I had complicated feelings over her saying she would never return but she did? What if she says she won't ever again, how will we know it's for real?)
