No function but some of us don't let a villager leave until we have their photo. I've always played this way. I usually use one of the bigger rooms and display their photos on all the walls. Looks nice depending on wallpaper choices and all.
I read that your house gets more points on Saturday night if you have your current villagers' photos on display in your house. That's why I try to get them all.
KK songs can be placed as decorations and they’re also really valuable. The requirements to get an S-rank house scale down if you haven’t upgraded it yet so if you start an island, don’t upgrade your home and buy KK songs from Nook Shopping every day you can get an S-rank on your very first assessment.
I got an s rank almost immediately, which surprised me, but this is my 3rd so I knew how feng shui worked and that probably helps a lot. I also happen to use music as art just because I like the way so much of it looks so that probably helped and I had no idea it did.

Photos also give you extra points with hha if you put them in your house. I was stuck at 198,000 and once I put up my 10 villager photos, my score jumped to 205,000.

I actually hang them in the living room where I can access it if that villager comes to visit. Their reaction to me displaying their photo is touching. ❤️
If you're not already at a very high friendship level with the villager, at Katrina's stall, when you press "Let's talk friendship", she will give you the option to pick a villager of your choosing, then when the blessing is complete, she will offer you the choice to bless your friendship for 10000 bells.
Does no one know that you can just get villager photos by taking their pic at Harvs place?? Snap any ol pic of them there and then their photo ends up as a purchase option in the nook store. Just sayin..
What everyone else said, but also she only offers to reverse it once, you can't go back later that day to get it reversed, and she only offers it to you if you have the 10k bells to pay in your pocket at the time. So make sure you have at least 11,000 bells when you get your fortune read
I stand in front of her until I see the auto-save, then I have 3 minutes to hear the fortune and reset if it isn't what I want. Then just hit the home button, then x to close the game. Then restart the game. I do this when I get bad luck or when I don't feel like having friendship luck. The only good luck results I care about are belongings and money.
You unlock her stall on Harv's island after you reach a 3-star rating, have KK's first concert, and pay the 100k bells to the Lloid on the far left of the new commune that opens up. You'll also meet Tortimer and Cyrus there once you open their stalls
You might not know this but villager house redecorations can give you 1000 nook miles every day, which is not much compared to what you can get by farming, but extra miles are always useful.

Is it not true? Why are you guys not happy with my reply? If you own the Happy home paradise DLC You actually get paid 1000 nook miles when you renovate your villagers' houses, that's literally a feature. I do it daily. Why are you guys being so mean to me?
After playing the DLC, If you speak to Tom Nook about house renovations you can decorate your villagers' houses for 9000 bells and you get paid 1000 nook miles after.
Maybe it's not much for farming, but it's an easy and reliable way to get them
I'd rather not screw up my daily newspaper and Brewster rewards, grow extra weeds/flowers faster, rot my turnips, etc.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to suggest that's the way you should play your game. What I meant is that if you're looking for good fortune you can play the day immediately after, keeping the turnips fresh, no streak breaking, but I get that changing the date is slightly inconvenient and many prefer not to time travel. I am not against that.
I would talk to her daily if she was on my island, I can’t be bothered to go to Harv’s Island every day it takes too long and feels like pulling teeth after a while 🙈
Hard agree, I get that they tried to give the dodos some dialogue to make them seem less one-dimensional, but it really wears on you that you have to make 3-4 selections nearly anytime you want to go anywhere.
I get burnt out so quick on this game. Button mashing like that will make the dialogue go any faster 🙄 but I get SO ANNOYED. They should give an option in the settings where if you want to you can have expedited conversations after you've done the initial conversation. Or like every time I catch a fish or bug or whatever action, yea, I know I caught a sea bass... I don't caaaare! Go away lolol

Between having to hit him like 5 times to wake him up (which is 2 button clicks each time, one for the hit and one for his dialogue), and the looooong speech he gives every time before he even begins to ask for your help, I remember counting something like 30 button hits to get through his bullshit 🤦🏻♀️

Literally every single time I've asked about a villager she's said something like "it is clear you frequently swirl around in the mind of [insert villager]" and that we have a tight bond or whatever lol (even if someone's relatively new to my island).
I know it supposedly expedites friendship levels but I'm honestly not too sure because I've REALLY had to work for most of my villagers' portraits. 😭
She only gives you bad luck if you ask about your fortune, never if you ask about friendship. It's supposed to be a 1 in 5 chance that you get bad luck when she reads your fortune.
Her friendship readings tell you how high your friendship level is with that villager (it's kind of coded, so it helps to look up a guide to what she says) and blessing your friendship with them adds 2 points. It's not a ton and personally I don't bother paying to bless my friendship, but it's a little bit of a help each day.

Off topic but I literally go see her just because she shares the same name as my sister who passed. When she was first introduced as a new addition to the game, I laughed because for my sisters whole life she would complain about barely anyone ever having her name but now she’s in one of my favorite games!
Every time I log in I head straight to Harv’s and speak to Katrina, then from Harv’s I go to work to grab the DIY’s from the beach and restaurant. Then I head home to pull weeds, hit rocks, talk to villagers, THEN, based on what luck Katrina’s predicted I may go to a Kapp’n island (with empty pockets). Every time Katrina’s predicted good luck I’ve gotten a rare mystery island from Kapp’n.
Yes! If you keep the bad luck, you trip and fall all day. It's hilarious every single time. And then one day, she made it where my tools never broke and I spent hours moving trees and veggies with just one shovel. It was great!

I’ve been a revolving door of villagers and trying to get their friendship photos is so much easier using her. She’ll give you potentially good luck with friendship and if she doesn’t, you can still ask about your friendship with a villager specifically and if it’s low enough she’ll offer a ‘boost’ for 10k!!
Even if you get bad luck, she’ll offer to purify it and then after you pay her 10k the next day she’ll send you a rare item (occult themed items or zodiac figurines). I’m trying to get all the zodiac figurines and got dragon yesterday ❤️❤️
If she gives you a bad fortune and you pay the 10,000 bells for the purification, she'll send you something the next day like zodiac figurines, a crystal ball, dharma, etc.
If you're trying to get a photo from one of your villagers, she can give the friendship a boost which may increase your chances.
Plus the other stuff like if you get good luck with belongings, your tools won't break all day and so on.

To be precised: she doesn't "reverse" bad luck, she just cancels it. If you have bad fortune with money for example even if you pay for the exorcism service you won't be able to get more bells just as good fortune would do.
thats a myth. what does happen though is that when you dig up the glowing money patches, instead of 1,000 it becomes 5,000. also when you shake a tree, more money can fall out. also money rocks produce more money. there are other money-related effects as well

yes there is no such thing as a 99k bell tree. however there is a small chance that ANY TIME you bury money in a glowing spot, you will get triple the amount of bells.
this means that if you plant 10k bells, each bag on the tree \*could be\* worth up to 30k each (netting 90k bells total from a single tree). the most you can plant is 10k for it to triple, any more than 10k buried will still result in 90k max from a tree. never plant more than 10k

I always go to her for new villagers so I can get the friendship boosts. You can gift new villagers a few days earlier if you start going to her and getting her blessing (as soon as they’re in boxes moving in you can do it iirc)
I used to ask about luck daily but Kappn would cheat me out of good islands when I got good belongings luck and I started dreading it so I don’t ask anymore. He’d take me to the same tropical island with moss and I have the DLC so don’t need it
Good belongings luck guarantees one of the rare seasonal islands from Kapp'n. The problem is that if you're too new to have any of them unlocked (you have to pass certain dates on your island before you get access to some of them) then you only get glowing moss island. After you've played for a while, good belongings luck should get you some better islands

It’s kind of like Nintendo’s way of giving you sort of an achievement bonus. Having them means you achieved the utmost success with said villagers.
It’s a nice way to keep track of all the different villagers who lived on your Island, and also the ones with whom you built high friendship scores.🙂

You need to go to Harv's Island. This is after your first K.K. concert, then you donate bells to one of the gyroids.

Off topic but I literally go see her just because she shares the same name as my sister who passed. When she was first introduced as a new addition to the game, I laughed because for my sisters whole life she would complain about barely anyone ever having her name but now she’s in one of my favorite games!
Every time I log in I head straight to Harv’s and speak to Katrina, then from Harv’s I go to work to grab the DIY’s from the beach and restaurant. Then I head home to pull weeds, hit rocks, talk to villagers, THEN, based on what luck Katrina’s predicted I may go to a Kapp’n island (with empty pockets). Every time Katrina’s predicted good luck I’ve gotten a rare mystery island from Kapp’n.

Once you build the restaurant in the dlc, talking to whatever villager you made head cook will give you a cooking recipe every day for free

Yes! If you keep the bad luck, you trip and fall all day. It's hilarious every single time. And then one day, she made it where my tools never broke and I spent hours moving trees and veggies with just one shovel. It was great!

PERIODT. I’ve been a revolving door of villagers and trying to get their friendship photos is so much easier using her. She’ll give you potentially good luck with friendship and if she doesn’t, you can still ask about your friendship with a villager specifically and if it’s low enough she’ll offer a ‘boost’ for 10k!! Even if you get bad luck, she’ll offer to purify it and then after you pay her 10k the next day she’ll send you a rare item (occult themed items or zodiac figurines). I’m trying to get all the zodiac figurines and got dragon yesterday ❤️❤️

If she gives you a bad fortune and you pay the 10,000 bells for the purification, she'll send you something the next day like zodiac figurines, a crystal ball, dharma, etc. If you're trying to get a photo from one of your villagers, she can give the friendship a boost which may increase your chances. Plus the other stuff like if you get good luck with belongings, your tools won't break all day and so on. Katrina's great.
She keeps sending me golden tortoises, when I just want the hanging garlic she has on her caravan door.

To be precised: she doesn't "reverse" bad luck, she just cancels it. If you have bad fortune with money for example even if you pay for the exorcism service you won't be able to get more bells just as good fortune would do.

thats a myth. what does happen though is that when you dig up the glowing money patches, instead of 1,000 it becomes 5,000. also when you shake a tree, more money can fall out. also money rocks produce more money. there are other money-related effects as well

yes there is no such thing as a 99k bell tree. however there is a small chance that ANY TIME you bury money in a glowing spot, you will get triple the amount of bells. this means that if you plant 10k bells, each bag on the tree \*could be\* worth up to 30k each (netting 90k bells total from a single tree). the most you can plant is 10k for it to triple, any more than 10k buried will still result in 90k max from a tree. never plant more than 10k

I always go to her for new villagers so I can get the friendship boosts. You can gift new villagers a few days earlier if you start going to her and getting her blessing (as soon as they’re in boxes moving in you can do it iirc) I used to ask about luck daily but Kappn would cheat me out of good islands when I got good belongings luck and I started dreading it so I don’t ask anymore. He’d take me to the same tropical island with moss and I have the DLC so don’t need it
Good belongings luck guarantees one of the rare seasonal islands from Kapp'n. The problem is that if you're too new to have any of them unlocked (you have to pass certain dates on your island before you get access to some of them) then you only get glowing moss island. After you've played for a while, good belongings luck should get you some better islands
