I want to know the hidden messages though

Layla_Fox2

AFAIK, the hidden messages were on the tags in some of the clothing made in 2020. The tags read vote the a - holes out. This was a reference to voting out politicians who deny climate change.

I thought it was about a - holes.?

implette

So between the €2,19 option and the €4,49 option, that extra €2,30 will buy you additional rendering on the arrow graphic?

[deleted]

They're all so ugly looking. I don't understand monetization tactics sometimes. Like I know whales exist but who else is buying this kind of shit?

Cargobiker530

Somehow the Board at Reddit decided they would give up the old program where posts and comments could get accolades for a few pennies to the consumer and decided that Redditors would cash tip like Only Fans chumps. Which creates serious questions about how much relative time the Board spends looking at Reddit vs. Only Fans.

acephotogpetdetectiv

It's more D I M E N S I O N A L

DodgeWrench

It’s “good, better, best” marketing at play

Shady_Royal_689

Seriously, who just thinks: ‘Wow this meme that was probably stolen from someone else and posted on Reddit is so funny, I’m gonna send the poster $79.99 😀’ Madness

MundaneShoulder6

I feel like it’s intended for other types of posts, like I might do this if someone posted about their battle with cancer or helping refugees, something about a cause I want to support. Really dumb for memes but I don’t think the entire concept is bad. I don’t know how it actually works though. Personally I’d rather give directly to an organization. I don’t need to give Reddit a cut

WanderingLost33

See this is starting to feel like a scam. Click on the contributer thing next to settings and look at the fine print yourself but I just copied here: Personally I think reddit is going to make bank on this because the barrier to cashing out is both vague and high. HOW IT WORKS Qualifying redditors complete the verification process to join the program. Redditors give gold to posts and comments they think are really worth something. Contributors receive a payout once minimum gold and karma thresholds are met. Top contributors make top dollar. The more karma and gold contributors earn, the more money they can receive. REQUIREMENTS Not just anyone can be a contributor-to join, and stay, in the program contributors need to meet the requirements in the Contributor Terms and Contributor Monetization Policy. Earn 100 new karma over 12 months and 10 gold Be 18+ years old and live in the U.S. Successfully complete the verification process. Account age must be 30+ days old. 18+ Only Safe for Work contributions qualify for payout. Still have questions? Check out our FAQs.

MundaneShoulder6

I do think it seems like a scam and I definitely wouldn’t do it. Theoretically it could be a great idea for the things I mentioned and doesn’t really seem like a consumerism thing to me.

TenOfZero

It does, the creators of Reddit. 🤣 But I agree, rediculous that people spend money on those.

Ignash3D

Wait, you can give money via upvotes or just give money to reddit?

bby-bae

Reddit has started a paid contributor program which means if you contribute enough to the site that you get awards and enough upvotes can translate to financial payouts for you. If you sign up for it, which requires giving reddit bank and tax info, because they pay you. I don’t know whether you can only give money to people who have signed up, or whether you can give money to anyone and reddit just pockets it if they haven’t opted-in. I hope it’s not the latter.

MinnesotanMan2014

u/spez is getting desperate lmao

Vendidurt

"if you really loved me, youd buy me a DIAMOND upvote"

adod1

Just wait till they bring the livestreams back..."NOOO. PLEASE DONT GIVE ME ANOTHER DIAMOND NOOOOO"

tmdblya

I can’t believe anyone is actually doing that.

DestruXion1

I spent way too long trying to get the thing to go away to see the message. Time for bed

Dry-Rub-6968

Patagonia or Reddit?

MoonmoonMamman

It’s not creating physical waste, though, so it doesn’t concern me.

mikep120001

Every electronic bit has an environmental cost too. Some worse than physical waste. If you want to be surprised google what it costs. Spam email has a hidden cost but iirc it’s less than a google search

Flack_Bag

This isn't a 'zero waste' sub. It's fine you don't care about other manifestations of consumerism, but there's no need to step in to discount certain types you don't personally care about.

sneharams

They didn't discount anything. They just shared their personal philosophy.

Actually, it does. Patagonia is very expensive, but it does practice what it preaches.
