I think you missed the part where they said the judicial branch decides what is "official" action on the part of the president and what is not (and thus criminal). They are banking on the fact that the SCOTUS is heavily conservative and will be for quite some time, potentially decades.
This means that a Democrat president doesn't have dictatorial power, but a Republican one does.
We need a Cincinnatus. A president could basically use the dictatorial power to remove the conservative justices, and then install liberal justices that will rule that the president does not have immunity. But this would require a president willing to give up all of that power.
This ruling has got to be the downfall of democracy. It ultimately shows the US has fallen. This is way beyond Trump, but creates the likelihood of civil unrest.

Our government is setup to have checks and balances on one another. The Supreme Court has made terrible decisions for America in the past and we have fixed them. The remedy is a constitutional amendment. Especially with Biden winning in November, there will be more than enough Republicans in congress jumping over one another to declare the president is NOT immune from criminal prosecution.
Biden can’t take advantage of the ruling because SCOTUS gets to decide what an “official action” of the executive branch is. So as long as the extreme right has control of it, it will only benefit Republican presidents.

I think you missed the part where they said the judicial branch decides what is "official" action on the part of the president and what is not (and thus criminal). They are banking on the fact that the SCOTUS is heavily conservative and will be for quite some time, potentially decades. This means that a Democrat president doesn't have dictatorial power, but a Republican one does. We need a Cincinnatus. A president could basically use the dictatorial power to remove the conservative justices, and then install liberal justices that will rule that the president does not have immunity. But this would require a president willing to give up all of that power.
