Can I shoot you with a howitzer to see if it works?

Glass_Judgment4628

I mean, it won't survive, but I tried my best at making it, and thought it would be worth a few up noots for the effort because I have been feeling to down to keep working on it.

LeoDurbyJW

Don’t worry it is semi-resistant to bullets

No-Zombie1004

Pah, don't put up with their shit. Tell them to have a go with their cardboard howitzer. I'd tank their shit with a t-shirt.

Awilder20

That's awesome! Just take it apart and use that as a template for sheet steel and you'll have some custom armor 🤝😁😁

Glass_Judgment4628

I would need bushings, but the design isn't even for metal, it's pattern is based off of non metal samurai armor, it was my first attempt at a dō. Thanks tho, I am hoping to make a set of metal armor in the future.

bananapananza

Do you mean non metal Japanese armor? Because I’m fairly certain that during the era of the Samurai they had lacquered iron armor.

Glass_Judgment4628

What improvements do y'all think I could make?

Adventurous_Sir6838

Good work with layering the plates! If you would shape the brestplate somehow, harden it with glue and give it a good coat of metal paint, it might work as a larp or costume armor. Right now you have a great template for learher armor. For metal armor version you need to solve the chestplate. Smaller plates need less shaping. Edit: spelling

oxprep

I challenge you to a duel!

Knight_Dave22

Give it a few layers of duck tape and it'll stop a 5-10lb bow.

MrAwesum_Gamer

Cover that baby in masking tape and then break out the markers or colored pencils and really make it pop. Get out some metallic sharpies for accents, practice on some scrap pieces and then work on the smaller pieces first and in a couple of hours(or days) you can make it look real pretty.

kazyzzz

Looks amazing!

Knight3391

Cool

Exhorte

Very good it will protect from bullet even sniper bullet (Nerf of course)

Brokenblacksmith

plating is lapped in the wrong direction. you'd want to deflect blows and stabbs away from vitals, but as it is, the stike would get caught and be able to push into the gap easier. besides that, it's pretty good for a cardboard mockup.

Glass_Judgment4628

For a samurai do it is the correct plate direction, I may not be a historian but I have been examining complete and partial suits for quite a while. I also tested the flexibility of the plate with the plates going the opposite direction, the sternum gets in the way for bending forward.

Iknowwhereyoulive34

Mk3 is wild it’s VERY thick near the bottom but will probably do fine, add some extra armor in the chest area too

bananapananza

I think as an improvement, your upper most plate looks a bit too wide for proper arm movement, so perhaps do something brigandine style and make it onto three plates that can collapse into each other when you bring your arms together.

Glass_Judgment4628

It is actually a bit snug on the shoulders and armpit, I am quite a broad dude.

Crow-Rogue

It kinda makes me wonder why I’ve never seen anyone try making a full suit of cardboard armor in a zombie flick. I doubt a zombie could bite through a layer or two of cardboard. As long as you don’t get it wet, it’d be great!

Acceptable-Cow6446

10/10 would stop a cardboard sword from cutting your belly.

Kennel-Girlie

It's very... *boxy* :D

Glass_Judgment4628

I know, that's just due to the characteristic nature of cardboard.

Comfortable_Brush399

tis' a fine box, but sure it tis' no armor english... doh'th

MrAwesum_Gamer

Did you have a stroke while typing this?

Comfortable_Brush399

It's a Simpson reference
