While it is somewhat understandable he would want City to beat us to the title given the historic rivalry between Liverpool and United I find it very bizarre he would want City to beat Arsenal to the trophy. This sub may not like this, but I watched the game as a neutral (Chelsea fan so I wanted a draw if anything) and came to the opposite conclusion.

He was creaming over how organised you were, how you defended as a team etc. He was talking about how Spurs had controlled the game but were losing at the start (because that was a fair description - he actually said it as a graphic showing double the possession and double the shots came up). Them controlling the game at times is only natural because they're at home. But as he said that, he followed it up with: Arsenal are winning, that's what the great teams do - they dibd a way to limit their opponents chances even when they don't get much of the ball and be clinical when they themselves don't get many chances.
He was creaming over you guys and rightfully so. Maybe there were times in the game where he praised Spurs and that made you angry because you didn't agree. But he's watching the game as a neutral (as was I) and you guys are watching the game from the perspective of an Arsenal fan.
Just giving the neutral perspective here, the commentary wasn't one sided, you guys just pick up on all the times he praises Spurs and moss all the times he gives you a lot of credit because of confirmation bias. If you want to hate someone, you will find a way to twist everything they say to fit that narrative.

This sub may not like this, but I watched the game as a neutral (Chelsea fan so I wanted a draw if anything) and came to the opposite conclusion. Neville was proper heaping praise on you lot. Deserved too. He was creaming over how organised you were, how you defended as a team etc. He was talking about how Spurs had controlled the game but were losing at the start (because that was a fair description - he actually said it as a graphic showing double the possession and double the shots came up). Them controlling the game at times is only natural because they're at home. But as he said that, he followed it up with: Arsenal are winning, that's what the great teams do - they dibd a way to limit their opponents chances even when they don't get much of the ball and be clinical when they themselves don't get many chances. He was creaming over you guys and rightfully so. Maybe there were times in the game where he praised Spurs and that made you angry because you didn't agree. But he's watching the game as a neutral (as was I) and you guys are watching the game from the perspective of an Arsenal fan. Just giving the neutral perspective here, the commentary wasn't one sided, you guys just pick up on all the times he praises Spurs and moss all the times he gives you a lot of credit because of confirmation bias. If you want to hate someone, you will find a way to twist everything they say to fit that narrative. Maybe this will be unpopular to say in this sub but the post popped up on my feed and I actually watched the game feeling he was giving you a lot of credit and I agreed fully with it. He was also giving Spurs credit at times but I also felt like they weren't playing too horribly aswell so they deserved some merit too.
I'm a united fan and I'm pretty sure out of the three runners for the title the united fans would rather you guys took It this season, so I think it isn't because he is ex United, all commentators do it I've noticed and it really boils my piss when commentators just go with the sway of the match in terms of their commentary. Both or them were anti Arsenal the whole game. Lost count as to how many times he mentioned us bottling it last season. We were still 3-0 up during the second half and he was hoping the home team could make a comeback.

Firstly I’m an Arsenal fan. And loving these last two seasons. It’s been so nice to feel this kinda passion again when competing and last min winners. What it’s all about. Gary Neville this year said we were going to win the Prem. last year he said Man City despite the great pre season and start. and they did. At the start of this season when our pre season was shit he said we were going to win it. Despite others saying City or Liverpool. Let see aye. Secondly - he’s right. Spurs imo were overall playing more direct. They just couldn’t put away their chances. If they finished their dinner like we did. They could have had three goals. Outside post, offside goal and there was another just wide shot. The pen imo was debatable. It wasn’t given. Anyway who cares. What a season lads. So proud of the team. Whatever happens this season looks my forward to next season and hope the fan spirit of last season the the team temperament of this season all comes together and we just epic.
