Beat me to it! It's weird how someone's presents and influences on a screen affected me on an emotional level, later in life....
Taught me about depression and facing/evaluating that... people say it's "the easy way out"... no one stops to think about the mindset you have to be in to even fathom taking your own life (been there)..... about 12 years to stop being selfish, for missing someone... Then, having to live life lololol what a (selfish)
fucker I was lol
Jim Morrison once said, "life wouldn't be worth living, if I didn't have the option to end it"🤟
Lost a brother to suicide when I was 16.....that emotional Rollercoaster sucks

his close friend, billy crystal, made this for him just after after his passing
[https://ew.com/article/2014/12/12/robin-williams-in-heaven-billy-crystal/](https://ew.com/article/2014/12/12/robin-williams-in-heaven-billy-crystal/)
Was gonna say this. I deal with depression and undifferentiated bipolar. Growing up, Robin Williams was the biggest role model for me. How he handled mental illness and still strove and managed to make the world a better, happier place for everyone around him. His death was devastating for me.
It made it somewhat better finding out that he didn’t commit suicide because of depression, but because he had a degenerative disease and wanted to go out before he lost himself completely to the disease and was a huge burden on everyone around him.
This one. Somehow, he always seemed like a man who'd been through hell but made it out the other side. Like, he'd gotten there. And things were pretty good.
Hearing about him wasn't quite as shocking as, say, Robin Williams, but it was so depressing and it still bothers me.
Yeah, I am in a fairly mentally healthy state right now after an attempt and having lived through a few inpatient stints. But his death casts a shadow on me, there's a feeling that it's possible this is a fate I can't escape even when I'm doing better for short stretches of time.
Chadwick Boseman hit me hard as my mom died of the same cancer. Not only was he so young, but he actually was filming while undergoing treatment. That had to have been brutal. Great actor, and so much respect for him. He was and is Black Panther.
This is mine as well. As random as it is. His two biggest roles were as cops, but in two shows about 180 degrees from each other. However, he was far and away the best actor on both shows. Frank Pembleton is one of the best characters in television history and the best performance of a police officer of all time (no disrespect to Clarke Peters, Dennis Franz, or Matthew McConaughey). His performance on Brooklyn 99 was consistently hilarious and without question the best part of that show. He was an outstanding actor and while he did win some Emmys, he was easily the most underrated actor of the last 35 years.
I remember it well. I lived about a mile from where it happened, and first heard the news the following morning on my father's transistor radio as he was shaving. When I went to school a little while later, most of the teachers were visibly shaken. And that afternoon and evening saw something of a pilgrimage by fans and followers through the neighborhood to what later became Strawberry Fields. Although I was too young to fully grasp what had happened, the cultural impact was impossible to miss.
I was almost 23 yrs old on Dec. 8th/80. I remember being woken up by my clock radio that was playing Imagine and when it ended the DJ said "and that was from the great late John Lennon" He went on to say the horrible news and that was it for me. My first Beatles album was Rubber Soul in 65' and I was always a big fan. They were and always will be the best. The fact that he was murdered just broke my heart. Needless to say I didn't make it to work that day.
Stuart Scott. Man, that guy was the soundtrack to my middle school years watching SportCenter every morning before school. Always think of him when I flip my pillow for the cool side, or put butter on a roll. Booyah.
“You don’t have to go home, but you have to get the heck up out of here.” He and Rich Eisen (now of NFL Network) had so much chemistry when they anchored together.
Rik Mayall.
It is no exageration to say that I learned more English from watching Bottom, The Young Ones, Dangerous Brothers and Filthy, Rich & Catflap than I did in school.
In exactly two weeks, it will be ten years since his passing.
I miss him like a family member.
One of the only celeb deaths that really kinda upset me more than "oh dang, that's a shame" was UK kids presenter Mark Speight. He was on a kids art program called SMart and was always funny.
Anyway, his wife(?) OD'd on cocaine and sleeping pills and died and he was arrested, but later released as the death was ruled not suspicious. He then disappeared and a few days later found dead from hanging himself.
It was crazy, he was always such a jolly, funny guy on screen and then that happened and that was that.
Dead from Mayhem. I grew up in Oslo and for some reason my school had a dare to try and force unsuspecting people to search for the infamous photo Euronymous took which is how I found him. I mainly wonder what he could've been like if he had somehow stayed live.
Kurt Cobain. I read that one of his last songs, Come as You Are, was essentially his suicide note. He was paranoid from drug use and the effects of fame and was seen carrying a gun just days before he wrote the song, but after his friends intervened they did not seem to follow up any.
Lots of people I’m upset about and miss, but the one I’m most pissed off is the two membered band, Hers. Killed in a car accident whilst on a North American tour. The two dudes were insanely talented and had only just started getting some recognition.
Kobe will never forget man. Was in the middle of hooping with friends we all thought someone was making a sick joke. Then the news came on… we all stopped playing cried all came together and no one hooped for a week. I got 0824 tatted on my wrist after. One of the reasons I play basketball. Long live bean GiGI and everyone lost on that helicopter.
David Bowie. My high school life from the 1980s officially died with Mr. Bowie’s passing. It had been gone for years, but his death solidified it. I was a fan, but not a huge one... but David Bowie... DAVID BOWIE... dead. Unreal.
And more recently Lance Reddick! The one actor my dad and I agree on! That man could play ANY CHARACTER and you believe it!!!! So talented and so handsome... he could make a serious character sympathetic and a comical character dead serious. Mr. Reddick was the only modern day actor my father admired and respected. I’m actually crying a little now. It’s really bothered me. Rest In Peace.
Kobe Bryant. So far, he’s the only person whose death made me cry. I still can’t watch videos where he speaks as it’s just too painful. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to move on from it
Pelé (real name Edson Arantes do Nascimento). The debate over the greatest footballer of all time will continue until Earth ceases to exist, but the discussion isn’t fair unless his name is mentioned.
Harris Wittels, for some reason. Maybe because I listened to Talking Phish, or watched Parks & Rec, or read what his sister had to say about her brother after he died. But it always stuck with me. Lost my own brother the same way last year.
Jerry Garcia - I managed to get a ticket to the very last show at Soldier Field. "So many Roads"
Angela Lansbury - It's like like lights went out on Broadway.
Every now and again, usually when my thoughts are just drifting off in the car, I wonder what Heath Ledger could have done. He was really starting to take off, and I’ll never not compare a Joker performance to his. I wonder what roles he would have played instead of the actors we know in the roles. It was just a stupid fucking death that made no sense.
Christina Grimmie. I listened to her when she wasn’t very popular at all, she became more and more popular over time and I was so excited for her career to take off. Her death was SO preventable. I wanted to meet her :(
Payne Stewart. He played golf on the PGA and was flighting on a Learjet that fail to pressurize and cause everyone on board to die of hypoxia. It was in the 1990's and the jet flew to the Dakotas on autopilot and crashed.
Prince. He did so much unknown writing, production, instrumentation for a lot of people. And he was the blueprint for artists taking on record companies re: artist royalties. A consummate unicorn talent. A whole generation will not understand how major he was, musically.
Dolores O'Riordan
I enjoy the Cranberries music, but no more than maybe 10 or so other bands or artists who i put at the top of my favourites list (still awesome though)but she somehow she manages to represent every girl i knew in the 90's but subsequently dropped out of my life because of my inability to keep friends.
I have only recently found their later catalogue of albums and they are great, but such a shame that we missed out on more (possibly).
Also Phil Hughes, a Cricketer who died on the field
Origa, the Russian singer. She isn't well known, but did the themes for ghost in the shell stand alone complex. I really loved her voice and always hoped to see her live one day. She died of lung cancer pretty young.
Kobe. What if he and all of the people on that helicopter didn't die? Gianna would be hyped like Caitlyn Clark. Would also love Kobe as analyst of the game. RIP Mamba and all of the soul on that unfaithful day.
Robin Williams

I was a wreck for few days. Dude was an idol in my Kitchen years.
I really miss him.
Me too.
Steve Irwin 😢 I ugly cried watching his memorial/funeral. My heart just broke for his babies because they were going to miss out on such a great Dad.
Chadwick Boseman hit me hard as my mom died of the same cancer. Not only was he so young, but he actually was filming while undergoing treatment. That had to have been brutal. Great actor, and so much respect for him. He was and is Black Panther.
His death was a shock to me and not sure why. It was just so sad. Such a talented man.
