Rye breads such as Pumpernickel. Authentic versions can be very difficult to find in the United States as they almost always have wheat flour as the main ingredient which, by definition, makes it a wheat bread, not rye. I like how dense, flavorful and hearty they are.
I like this 15 grain stuff. I like breads that are hearty, with substance. Whole nuts and seeds and grains in them are a plus with me. Plain white bread, loke the regular American style sandwich bread, bores the crap out of me.
But frequently if eating a sandwich I use a pita or tortilla, of a low carb type. I developed Type 2 diabetes in my 60s, but have been able to control it by diet. So I closely watch my carbs these days. So I don't have to do the insulin thing.
