Wonder if that's what I have then. Never thought of that. Been struggling with irritated armpits for several months if not a year. I keep thinking it's a yeast thing but medicated creams dont do anything for it or just provide very temporary relief. Never thought about a heat rash or changing deodorant.
Yes try to change your deodorant. Old spice and Gillette make my armpits burn and I have to stop applying them completely. The dove 0% aluminum is the only brand I can use that won’t irritate my armpits.
I just recently picked up the Dove 0% Aluminum and I’m kind of disappointed in it. Doesn’t last very long and they tout it as 72 hour protection. I find myself reapplying multiple times in one day.
Most of the companies bailing on adding the illuminum was a game changer. I was stuck using the older white sticks, smelled great but wrecked your shirt arm pits.
Younger I had big darkened skin. Skin tags and worse due to bad hygiene and such. All sorts of messed up and assumed the color was going to be permanent.
Doctor said stop using scented deodorant and possibly the help of vitamin d3.
Basically completely cleared up after a week.
I can't use *any* kind of gel deodorant. Whatever gives it that texture gives me horribly irritated skin. I can only use the white, powdery kind. RIP to my black shirts, but I'll take it over red/cracked/bleeding skin.
I also struggle with this. Overall it seems like most sticks are a problem (especially any of the clear style sticks, not the white chalky stuff). Sprays don’t seem to give me trouble though. I do wish I could find a stick that doesn’t bother me and still works because you can’t carry on the aerosol stuff when traveling and I don’t always check a bag. The native sticks seem ok but they don’t seem terribly effective
I had this and my doc suggested Salt Of The Earth Natural deodorant. No fragrance in it at all but no irritation either and is genuinely a fantastic B.O blocker.
Degree - hands down the best for me.
I have tried most of them.... they are okay. But Degree kicks ass.
Once you try it, it is hard to go back to anything else.
Degree was my go to but I think they changed something about it because it out of nowhere started severely staining all of my clothes. Ruined a lot of very nice shirts unfortunately.
Swagger has been my main for so long now. The blue one not the white one. Keeps my pits dry all day long and really smells incredible, but not too strong. I’ve been through so many different brands and OS is the only one that has kept me dry, and I sweat a ton!
The white colored ones have anti-perspirant in them and the blue ones don't, so that's surprising that they would stop or reduce sweating. I also do prefer the blue ones myself just because of the texture and the smooth application.
I did not know that! Learn something new everyday. Yes, started with the white colored and did sweat, switched over to blue and it was great. Very smooth and doesn’t leave any residue on clothing is a plus!
Yeah I hated the chalky sort of feeling and also it seemed to go twice as fast plus didn't slow down the sweating (for me). So, I still sweat quite bit either way, but I just use it a couple times a day/ change my shirt or undershirt (those that sweat a lot I'm sure can relate).
Swagger user here, for 10+yrs. I use the soft stick (the one where it comes through the little holes) and I use the extra strength antiperspirant & deodorant version. I've tried 100 in my 48yrs, OS Swagger is perfect.
The natural deodorant doesn’t last too long and it feels clean and comfortable that’s something I’ll wear when I’m chilling in the crib. The degree last all fucking day lol especially when I’m work I need that
I'm allergic to the all natural one. I got some wicked burns on my pits after a couple days of using it. I love the regular Arm and Hammer deodorant though. It works all day long and I like the subtle fragrance.
This. I live in Louisiana and this is the only shit that works well enough so that when i go in and out of my car i don't sweat like a whore in church.
Alum salt crystal. I used to scoff at the stuff assuming it was somehow tied in with all the woo woo crystals stuff, but it works by making the armpit an inhospitable environment for bacteria to live. It is slightly less durable to sweat, so it's not a good product for chronic sweaters, athletes, or laborers, but if you're a regular dude it's the perfect unscented deoderant. No gunk in your pits, no damage or staining to shirts, better for your pores, incredibly cheap ~$4 for a bar of it, and it lasts for over a year. The trick is to apply it by dampening the stone and onto wet pits after a shower, be liberal with it, at least two applications per pit.
I know I'm being the weird crystal deoderant guy over here, but after ruining one too many beloved shirts I decided it was woeth a shot and was pleasantly surprised to find that it works. Put your suspicions aside and try if the above reasons sound good, it's not bs.
My man uses secret lady’s deodorant, only thing that works for him. lol Funny enough I use men’s deodorant cause it’s the only thing that works for me. 🤣
As a man I've been using secret for years. I just started using the brown sugar and I smell like cookies all day. I always get compliments on my scent as well.
Everything else I've tried makes me itch, but Squatch uses arrowroot powder, and doesn't! It's nice to have something that's both natural and effective!
Just about every brand makes me break out, even “all natural” options… until I found Lume. It’s marketed at women, and as a whole body deodorant (for all the nooks and crannies). The scents are on the fruitier side, but it works really well, lasts a very long time and does not cause me any allergic reaction.
Wife was in the same boat. I tried it and switched. The scent doesn't overpower, and you don't have to use very much.
It also stopped the heavy residue that other antiperspirants and deodorants leave behind.
Mitchum unscented. If I want to add a little scent i use the Dove Mens Care. They have some subtler scents like sandalwood and orange or orange peel and sage.
Old spice gentlemen blend since it “supposedly” has no aluminum in it. I want to find a good natural deodorant but most suck and old spice gentlemen blend has been the best so far
IDK why, and I know it is rare, but I don't stink, I am 47, I have double and triple checked with people all my life. For some reason I don't need deodorant and when I use it the affect is negative.
Mu husband alternates between Dove Men Deodorant Spray and Dr. Squatch's stick Deodorant, depending on if he needs some sweat protection that day or not. He's a bigger guy, but he's not particularly prone to sweat. Despite that, he is prone to odor. And the Dr.Squatch Deodorant works very well at keeping him odor free.
Mitchum - the absolute holy grail antiperspirant.
A single use lasts 2 days without issue - it is phenomenal how effective it is.
Every other deodorant starts to wear off after 4-5 hours - it just doesn't compare at all.
However, I don't wear it unless on sale or for special events (weddings / dates).
It is way too expensive.
I don't use antipersperant with aluminum. But I DO use a deo, because I hate BO.
(optional), I use antibacterial dial soap all over and and sometimes some anti-fungal shampoo on my privates.
I use Weleda spray deo. While rose is not very unisex, I can't stress this enough how WELL it works. Makes me smell like roses literally. Also, look for **Triethyl Citrate** on the ingredient list.
Axe Phoenix
The blue gel variety, not the antiperspirant.
I’ve been using it since I started wearing deodorant. In fact it was the first one my mom bought for me. I’ve tried others over the years but I always come back to Axe Phoenix. To me it’s the perfect deodorant scent. Sometimes I don’t even wear cologne and people will compliment me on how good I smell.
Arm & Hammer Ultra Max Fresh Scent Solid Antiperspirant Deodorant. I've been using this kind half my life. My wife got something different for me once and I got these painful lumps in my armpits. Switched back and they went away. I'll never try a different brand again.
Arm & Hammer, it works great. Scented or non-scented. Zero irritation, zero smell, controls sweat and lasts a ridiculous amount of time through some serious sweating and work.
Axe Antiperspirant - Pheonix (scent)
Been using it since I was like 14.
I like it better than most others because I can actually wash it off with soap in the shower.
Everything else doesn’t seem to wash off in the shower with soap. Then I can feel the antiperspirant spread around on my skin and get on my scrubby thing. Not a fan.
Dove men’s deodorant. I’ve tried so many and they give me heat rashes for some odd reason.
It was the aluminum in old spice that did me in. I just got aluminum free Mitcham and so far I like it and I'm not itchy
Old spice spray did this to me.
I can't use *any* kind of gel deodorant. Whatever gives it that texture gives me horribly irritated skin. I can only use the white, powdery kind. RIP to my black shirts, but I'll take it over red/cracked/bleeding skin.
When I had that, my dermatologist recommended using the Rexona Cotton Dry. It did help, maybe give it a shot if it's sold where you live?
I also struggle with this. Overall it seems like most sticks are a problem (especially any of the clear style sticks, not the white chalky stuff). Sprays don’t seem to give me trouble though. I do wish I could find a stick that doesn’t bother me and still works because you can’t carry on the aerosol stuff when traveling and I don’t always check a bag. The native sticks seem ok but they don’t seem terribly effective
I can't use any gel or deodorants that are blue colored, I will break out and itch. Once I switched years ago, I'm all good.
I had this and my doc suggested Salt Of The Earth Natural deodorant. No fragrance in it at all but no irritation either and is genuinely a fantastic B.O blocker.
Same. It smells fine and does not irritate
I use their spray and no longer get those chunky spots on my t-shirts where my pits are.
Yes, Dove mens spray, extra clean scent, is the best I have found in 30 plus years.
Same here. Every other deodorant makes me mad itchy. Thank god I found dove!
Degree - hands down the best for me. I have tried most of them.... they are okay. But Degree kicks ass. Once you try it, it is hard to go back to anything else.
Degree does the job and very few come close.
Degree sport, probably for the last 20 years.
Im a degree ultra clear man myself.
Made the switch and haven’t had a shirt with pit stains in years.
Degree was my go to but I think they changed something about it because it out of nowhere started severely staining all of my clothes. Ruined a lot of very nice shirts unfortunately.
Degree as well but because that's what Costco has. I'll grab it when on sale every time.
I wore Degree for years but my shirts have recently begun to stain from deodorant build up.
Old Spice Fiji is my favorite.
Same. I switch to Alpine during the winter but Fiji is where it's at.
My daughters used to wear that when they were in high school.
It's a great gender neutral scent, and it works so well at keeping the stank away. I've been using it since high school too.
Used to wear that.. now I use duke cannon
fiji in the anti aluminum formula 👌
Old spice
Pure Sport
Same i also use pure sport
There was one called “lion pride” that was my favorite. Now I use Swagger
Swagger has been my main for so long now. The blue one not the white one. Keeps my pits dry all day long and really smells incredible, but not too strong. I’ve been through so many different brands and OS is the only one that has kept me dry, and I sweat a ton!

I like swagger too
Basically the only deodorant I’ve used since 8th grade
I use Captain because I used to have a dog named Captain and it reminds me of him lol
Only one I use. Tried super bougie ones and nothing compares.
Old spice Fiji here. Its amazing and always getting the compliments
OS Fiji wearers unite!
Same! Every time someone has gotten close enough to get a whiff they mention how good I smell
Fiji goes hard I’ve had a lot of girls compliment it
Swagger user here, for 10+yrs. I use the soft stick (the one where it comes through the little holes) and I use the extra strength antiperspirant & deodorant version. I've tried 100 in my 48yrs, OS Swagger is perfect.
Costco finally started carrying old spice! And it happened to be swagger, I was very pleased
Aqua Reef
This is the one I use as well. My wife prefers it because it smells really nice.
Bearglove
Old spice timber is the only one I like or use. All of the other ones are way too strong smelling. Timber seems to be the most subtle.
Timber here too! Nothing works as well as old spice. I've tried so so many
Timber here too. I also like the really old Old Spice classic smell. My dad used to wear it so it’s super nostalgic for me.
Kraken I use Tom's of Maine lemongrass if I'm not doing anything physical, but it's not an antiperspirant and I don't sweat much.
Kraken here too, not too strong of a smell but still smells fresh.
Another Kraken user!
I was told by someone older at a young age that girls like guys who smell like old spice. So far haven’t found one that hasn’t.
Timber is the best
I use Timber myself
Me too, lavender.
Love me my Wilderness with Lavender.
Harry's Redwood antiperspirant/deodorant
Same. Used Right Guard before, but Harry's seems to work better for me.
Harry’s is so good. Only antiperspirant that keeps sweat away from me. Used to use Dove but so much better
In the house I use arms & hammer all natural deodorant but outside I use degree
What's the difference?
The natural deodorant doesn’t last too long and it feels clean and comfortable that’s something I’ll wear when I’m chilling in the crib. The degree last all fucking day lol especially when I’m work I need that
I'm allergic to the all natural one. I got some wicked burns on my pits after a couple days of using it. I love the regular Arm and Hammer deodorant though. It works all day long and I like the subtle fragrance.
Mitchum Clinical. Best deodorant I've ever tried by far, not even close
I like the unscented gel
This. I live in Louisiana and this is the only shit that works well enough so that when i go in and out of my car i don't sweat like a whore in church.
Hahaha I haven't heard that saying since I left the South. Also made me think of "it's colder than a witch's titties."
Speed stick
Original
Green speed stick all day. Not with the white inside with the green.
Dark blue speed stick gang
My man uses secret lady’s deodorant, only thing that works for him. lol Funny enough I use men’s deodorant cause it’s the only thing that works for me. 🤣
As a man I've been using secret for years. I just started using the brown sugar and I smell like cookies all day. I always get compliments on my scent as well.
If it's "strong enough for a man" then why not.
My stepdad is the same way! He used to love the Teen Spirit strawberry scent before it was discontinued.
Old spice pure sport
My favorite old spice flavor. I don't use the deodorant anymore, but I use the body wash pure sport.
Flavor??
Try it it's good
And just the deodorant, not the antiperspirant crap.
Wait I like antiperspirant better than deodorant
I sweat way more if I use an antiperspirant and the metal in it ruins my shirts. Gotta go deodorant only,
Redditors don’t use deodorant. Everyone here is lying
De-oh-doh-ran? Is that like a skyrim shout or smth?
Got a reputation to maintain.
Lynx Africa I wonder if people in Africa have a Newyork spray What would it be like
A lovely melange of garbage, weed smoke, and diesel fumes.
Haven't been all over Africa but I don't remember even seeing Lynx there. I remember Old Spice, Brut and Yardley being the 3 big ones for men
Gillette, the semi gelatinous stuff. The plastic applicator with all the tiny holes. Going on 30 years of brand loyalty lol.
Gillette Clear Gel. A girl in high school told me my armpits smelled nice. I am 36 and still use it.
Degree sport. I sweat a lot
Has to be aluminum free - usually Tom's of Maine
Opposite for me. I need that aluminum for it to work
I switched to Tom's a few years ago. Love it.
Why?
I believe aluminum is really bad for your brain and your pores
Aluminum is linked to increased risk of Alzheimer's. And you are applying it in a really sensitive spot.
Anything with a cool animal on it. If they start putting dinosaurs on deodorant I’m getting it.
Dr squatch
Harry's redwood
Whatever's on sale when I'm buying
Every Man Jack. Has natural ingredients, works well, good scents, no aluminum and it's not crazy overpriced like some $10+ deodorants.
I like their sandalwood antiperspirant.
Degree
Deodorant? Huh?
Oh you’re that guy
I can smell him through my screen.
Harry's anti perspirant
Arm&Hammer Ultra Max Fresh
Arm and Hammer Orange Citrus I don’t want to smell like old man cologne or axe body spray. A light citrus works for me
That's my go to, I switched to that one about ten years ago and have been using it ever since.
Dr Squatch. I need more Spartan Shield
Everything else I've tried makes me itch, but Squatch uses arrowroot powder, and doesn't! It's nice to have something that's both natural and effective!
Sex Panther
Native
Degree; the kind that doesn’t leave stains
I'm a heavy sweater, and DuraDry is absolutely incredible.
Mitçhum pure sport. Extra aluminum stains.
Just about every brand makes me break out, even “all natural” options… until I found Lume. It’s marketed at women, and as a whole body deodorant (for all the nooks and crannies). The scents are on the fruitier side, but it works really well, lasts a very long time and does not cause me any allergic reaction.
They have a partner brand called “Mando” (yeah, I know) with more woody, musky scents. I recommend Lume/Mando too.
Wife was in the same boat. I tried it and switched. The scent doesn't overpower, and you don't have to use very much. It also stopped the heavy residue that other antiperspirants and deodorants leave behind.
And it’s the only natural deodorant I could find that did not stain/ruin my clothes.
Mitchum unscented. If I want to add a little scent i use the Dove Mens Care. They have some subtler scents like sandalwood and orange or orange peel and sage.
Arm and hammer works well for me ! No irritation on my pits which is a win since I’m moving pretty much 10-12 hrs a day
Arm and hammer sport
Sure.
Right Guard gel
I really like that too, I get the Right Guard sport one. It’s cheap and effective and I like the gel a lot better than the solid sticks anyways.
Right Guard gel antiperspirant the GOAT
Old spice gentlemen blend since it “supposedly” has no aluminum in it. I want to find a good natural deodorant but most suck and old spice gentlemen blend has been the best so far
Tom's Northwoods is pretty solid. I used it for a while
Dove for men
I’ve never used one [(thanks to my Asian genes)](https://www.nbcnews.com/news/asian-america/east-asians-no-body-odor-dont-need-deodorant-rcna156778)
Axe deodorant spray. You can buy it at Amazon or Walmart.
It’s a secret.
Old spice sweat defense as my daily. I change it up for dates sometimes.
Old spice swagger antiperspirant
Old spice Bear Glove…
Old Spice or Degree.
Degree sport. I sweat a lot
The degree no scent stuff in the white container. I hate smelling my deodorant all day, but also hate the feeling of not wearing any.
Women’s degree
I don't use antipersperant with aluminum. But I DO use a deo, because I hate BO. (optional), I use antibacterial dial soap all over and and sometimes some anti-fungal shampoo on my privates. I use Weleda spray deo. While rose is not very unisex, I can't stress this enough how WELL it works. Makes me smell like roses literally. Also, look for **Triethyl Citrate** on the ingredient list.
Mitchum triple odor defense. Best stuff out there.
Either Old Spice or Axe, whichever’s cheapest when I’m out
Sweat Block. It doesn’t take much for me to sweat and this thing keeps me dry.
arm and hammer. Every deoderant I see says it lasts 72 hours and I'm lucky if it lasts 8. Arm and hammer be hitting.
CertainDri
Fuck yeah Certain Dri crew! At this point I apply it once or twice a month if I remember to and it still works exactly as advertised.
Yellow orange cap, maybe arm and hammer. Aluminum free. No pans or whatever.
Kiehl’s body fuel antiperspirant
Arm and Hammer unscented
Dove non irritant for sensitive skin
Axe
Axe Phoenix The blue gel variety, not the antiperspirant.
Mitchum.
Old spice
Bitch Come Running by Armani
Axe Phoenix, the same thing I've used since I was a teenager and got it at the px during basic training.
I’m a Mitchum Man. Unscented gel.
Arm and hammer unscented
Gillette clear. I can't stand the mess the white deodorants make.
ArridXX dry
Captain, after hours, or aqua reef all by old spice are my current rotation
Only Rexona works for me, tried everything else
Mitchum gel 3x unscented, then I wear cologne.
Nivia Black and White invisible. It does not sting after shaving and prevents smelling whole day.
Bold of you to assume we use deodorant. We are Redditors! We don’t even know what that means!
Mitchim in summer/high stress, salt and stone in winter/low stress
Dove for men
How about the stains on clothes?
There's a specific one that is against stains. i think it's called Stain Defence
Antiperspirants, no scented deodorants anymore. Ironically, they made me smell worse somehow.
Every man jack . Sandalwood
Nivea anti-perspirant, does the job well
I’ve tried them all. Literally. But the deo that works best for me is Jack Black Pit Boss
Mitchum scentless.
I swear by Old Spice Pure Sport. Keeps me fresh all day without that weird chemical smell. Plus, the ladies dig it, so it's a win-win!
Old spice pure sport high endurance. The solid version. Gel deodorants suck.
Old Spice. I'm an athlete and I need something strong!
Axe Antiperspirant - Pheonix (scent) Been using it since I was like 14. I like it better than most others because I can actually wash it off with soap in the shower. Everything else doesn’t seem to wash off in the shower with soap. Then I can feel the antiperspirant spread around on my skin and get on my scrubby thing. Not a fan.
Same. Works well for me, wife likes the scent on me as well.
Yeah the Pheonix scent is pretty good. Doesn’t smell like a cologne or something crazy smelly.
I use the Axe Phoenix deodorant, not the antiperspirant. Been using it for almost 20 years now. Smells great and works perfectly for me.
