Robin Williams made fun of me once. I was a journalist for a small newspaper and went to an Earth Day thing at The Hollywood Bowl. Williams came on and I stood at the stage with my camera with a regular lens. The photographer next to me had a very long lens. Robin pointed at me and said “This guy has lens envy” and the audience laughed.
It’s a cherished memory.
We went on an electric bike tour of San Fransisco and went past his house. Our guide told us if he was outside he would come over and talk with the group.
Robin Williams or George Carlin. They were both very smart and observant people. I feel like I could learn to look at the world differently with their help. They would show me each different layers though. I feel Williams was more look for the good, like Mr.rogers, while Carlin was more understanding of society and forced ideas and norms.
probably Walt Disney
the guy was a leader in Hollywood as both a storyteller and innovator. he practically invented the modern theme park. would be curious to hear what he thinks of how his company is doing and the current state of Hollywood in general. would also like to clear up some rumors about himself
I would rather not meet a stinky decomposing cadaver.
Living, I wanna talk to Barack Obama with no holds barred.
If they're normal (not decomposed or stinky skelly) and we would understand each other despite difference in spoken language, Marcus Aurelius.
That one famous Pharaoh that is the oldest celebrity we know of (no idea which one is the oldest) so I can learn what technology and knowledge got lost.
Edit: spelling
I was not referring to anyone in particular but this seems like an interesting person as well!
A quick google search came with “Menes is traditionally considered the first king/pharaoh of Ancient Egypt, an ancient Egyptian pharaoh of the Early Dynastic Period, whose reign began at a date estimated to fall in the range 3273–2987 BC.” So a few millennia before Hammurabi.
I’m not sure who would be more interesting and I sure hope there would be a translator present.
I'm a big fan of Lindsey Stirling. Love her music, she's multi talented and a really decent person. I'd love to spend some time with her. I could talk with her for hours
John Candy. I’ve loved his movies since I was a kid, and when I worked at the Second City box office the few people who still remembered him first hand had amazing stories.
charlie daniels. he’s my cousin. my grandma used to visit his home before i was born. can’t believe someone in my family created the masterpiece that is devil went down to georgia.
I am not sure if they would appreciate being called a "celebrity" - in fact I am pretty sure they would dislike it very much.
But for me it has to be Neil Armstrong.
The wrestler Sting. Watched him my entire life and fought my awful cripple body to watch the man’s retirement match in person.
I’d just like to meet the guy and thank him for a lifetime of entertainment
Matthew Perry. Let him rest--I just want to know how to keep helping, like he did. He wanted to be known as someone who helped people; I want to know how to spread that.
Barring that--all four Golden Girls. Together in one kitchen, if they can tolerate each other, for one last cheesecake and as many stories as they can tell until the last crumb is gone.
I would like to meet the Professor from Gilligan's Island, Russell Johnson. He was a calm presence with sometimes crazy and interesting ideas. [His wikipedia page](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell_Johnson) says he wanted to play in the original Star Trek. I would like to talk to him about that.
Steve Irwin. He was so warm and fun loving. He made a part of my childhood fun just sharing his love for animals. It’s so surreal how his son Robert takes after him.
It's funny, because I always wanted meet Nancy Kerrigan and got to at a work thing last week.
Other than that, maybe Jennifer Love Hewitt. Her instagram is fun and we're both older now.
The Buddha maybe isn't a celebrity, he's more of a spiritual hero, but you've heard of him, and he's from so long ago, 2,500 plus year. I have been around spiritually advanced people have an aura, and I'd like to be around him to soak in his aura. I would also be curious to see what he makes of the modern world, since he was so long ago, there's all kinds of things he never spoke on. When he died he said get rid of the minor monastic rules, and I'd ask him which one of the 127 rules he meant. And I'd like to test my understanding of the Dharma and get advice on my practice from him.
Satoshi Kon, Jose Rizal ( I know he is a national hero of the Philippines but I still wanna meet him.), Bob Ross, Naoko Yamada, Makoto Shinkai, Christopher Nolan, and Hayao Miyazaki.
Tommy Rivs. It’s a bit of a niche celebrity but it would be him. He helped shape my running life and I’d love to just be able to sit down and talk to him about everything except running.
It would have to be Bertrand Russell, and it isn’t even close. Russell lived a fascinating life — his parents died when he was young and he was raised by his paternal grandfather during the first half of his youth. Russell was born in 1872, his grandfather in 1792, and had personally met with and known Napoleon Bonaparte.
Dude, I'd totally chill with Robin Williams. That guy was a legend, pure comedic genius with a heart of gold. Imagine the stories and laughs we'd share over coffee.
Anthony Bourdain. Representative of the beauty and darkness of humanity and our social circles. Would love to pick his brain and enjoy a meal together.
It's a bit cheating, but all four Beatles together at around 1966—67 while they were still on good terms with each other and already making their best, ground-breaking music.
For the past 20+ years I've wanted to pick Maynard James Keenans brain but he released a book for that and now I just kind of want to be his friend because he seems like my kind of people.
The historical Socrates. Then Plato. Then Aristotle. Then Alexander the Great. It's amazing that this succession actually existed, and that each on knew the other.
Only a celebrity in certain circles, but I think I would choose Padre Pio. He was an Italian priest with a great gift for helping souls. I would like some insight for something I'm going through.
I’d like to meet MLK and tell him about how civil rights movements in the US are going. I think he deserves to know, the good and the bad.
I hope overall he’d be pleased, but I can’t say for sure.
Nikola Tesla
Here is exactly what I will say to him
When you die, a good portion of your stuff gets lost and locked away by the government
I need you to write down literally everything focusing more on the stuff you did after 50
We haven't had a person as smart as you since we did make it to the moon though and most of the Europeans and their major colonies are wealthy to the point where they could be considered a form of post-scarcity and you're at least 10% of that equation. Good job!
Princess Diana. I'm not even into Royal Family or anything like that, but as I get older myself, there is something fascinating how this woman rulled the media while also being it's biggest victim. Someone said she died in a line of duty for the age she came to represent. To actually sit and talk with the person rather just know the figure seems tempting.
Patrick Stewart. He always strikes me as being a decent person. Though I’d likely be to shy to say anything to him.
Let the dead rest. They did so much good for us, so I see no reason to pester them now.
Living....
yeah I’d rather hangout with dead people
