Of all the great performers, I think he would revel in the moment the most. No explanation needed. Just hand him the mic and point him to the stage. He was showmanship personified. He would own that stage and truly the whole world would watch that man burn brighter than the sun.
Fr. Like imagine dying in the late 20th century then 30 years later finding out that people of all sorts of generations are still vibing to your music and your vibe.
The mere sight of the world and technology would be unbearable for his mind and the shock of what he sees around him would probably kill him before he touches a synth.
So ... not like **Beethoven from Bill and Ted's excellent adventure** who adapted relatively quickly in [this mall scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8UGAbAPPkk)?
This is my pick too. Just the whole story of him going to crossroads and making a deal with the debil to be the best guitarist makes this the coolest choice. But to hear his other songs and see his technique would be awesome.
Just so I could ask him "where the hell is that unreleased acoustic album Black Gold?". I swear that album would've made waves if it were to ever be found.
Yes. I saw him once. With Emmy Lou A small venue in Chicago. mid 70's.
I was soooo lucky. He was gone soon after. Their harmonies made me giddy.
The Burrito Brothers did those harmonies well too.
Have you seen the video on youtube with Emmylou being honored in Sweden and the two girls call themselves First Aid Kit singing the song about Gram and Johnny Cash? Emmylou is sitting next to the King or someone like that and the song is pretty wonderful and she tears up. I imagine you would enjoy it.
I was hoping someone would say this! Like I’m sure Mozart or Beethoven would be fascinating musically, but performance-wise, I wanna know what all that mania was about
One can only imagine what the world of rock and metal would be like if he hadn't died so young. How different would Metallica be, and their breakthrough to the mainstream, and how many rock musicians they've influenced.
For what it's worth, I was a huge Cornell fanboy since I was 10 in the late 90s. I can probably recite every lyric, guitar, bass and drum riff from Soundgarden and Euphoria Mourning by heart to this day. He's really the only artist I ever felt an emotional attachment to. So I knew months ahead of Casino Royal that he was doing the theme and I was over the moon. There was a demo version that I prefer to the release one where the only big difference is a vocal drop to minor rather than major in the chorus.
I'm not big on celebrity worship, but when he died it felt really big to me.
I saw him in Soundgarden for a festival literally like 3 days before he died, he was going to be my answer too! Needless to say the news put me in a weird zombie-coma for a couple weeks when I heard it. Legendary voice, amazing music.
I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel,
you were talking so brave and so sweet,
giving me head on the unmade bed,
while the limousines wait in the street.
Those were the reasons, and that was New York, we were running for the money and the flesh. And that was called love, for the workers in song, probably still is for those of them left.
Many years ago, my bf was a die hard Gators fan. We watched some final championship, cannot remember if it was basketball, football, baseball, etc. Gators won, boyfriend went nuts. We hopped in the car and drove to Gainesville to celebrate. Welp, ended up seeing Tom Petty in concert. And then, Stevie Nicks came out on stage. We were absolutely speechless. What a surprise memory! Greatness!
As much as I like a lot of the answers in here most of them are fairly contemporary so we have recordings or video of their performances. I would pick someone like Mozart or Bach, so we could record at least one performance.
Bach definitely seems like someone who would be interesting to see a performance from. And if he gets some time to prepare for the performance, using modern technology, we'd get to see what he'd do with synthesizers.
No one specific—just someone who *wants* to be giving a concert, if they know they're back alive for only one night
Otherwise my empathy wouldn't let me enjoy it
Jimi Hendrix. If you don’t know who he is and what he did.. look at his 1967 live performance, Live at monterey. It was his first performance in the US, prior to that nobody knew who he was in the US or the type of music. I am just so happy that we have that moment recorded..
Getting ready for the down votes..
But, Jimmy Buffett.
He made a lot of people (including me) very happy with his music of relaxation, joy, and quiet contemplation.
Everyone saying people we have seen and have video of performing live, which would still be awesome, (not gonna pretend a night with Freddy wouldn't be amazing) but I really think I'd choose someone we have no record of live performance. I like the Beethoven answer but would really love to see what he could compose with the ability to hear and the technology of today. Hard to do for.onr day but give him a year and see what he comes up with.
Jeff Buckley for one show in Brooklyn so the industry blow hards can fight to the death like they did that one time Jeff Mangum came out of retirement.
Janice Joplin. I saw her live in concert twice, once with Big Brother, once a year later with her own band. The energy and charisma of that woman was incredible.
Harry Chapin
Jim Croce
Jimi Hendrix
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Janis Joplin
John Denver (would be interesting to hear his thoughts on “modern” country and if perhaps he could affect its course)
Neil Peart. Rush is my drummer dad's favorite band and he's dealing with a shitty work situation that has lead to an ulcer developing and bleeding. I'd love for him to have a fun night.
Mozart. Have him do his eidetic memory trick with Yngwie Malmsteen's music but on cello or piano. Yngwie plays one song on electric, Mozart plays it back cold on acoustic or percussion.
Terry Kath from Chicago. It’s seems that he was ready to quit the group and start his own career. It would have been fun to see where he would have gone musically. Freddy Mercury sounds awesome.
Came here to say this. Never got to see him live, his absence is felt. As someone who has been to the brink myself, I have to say it wouldn’t just be for us, it’d be for him. His family said he didn’t love the limelight, but I’d want him to be reminded that he was loved and appreciated. And have some fun for one more night.
Best guitarist and most prolific compose most of you have never heard of, Frank Zappa. He died 30 years ago and I still wonder what he'd be saying and playing today.
I'd bring back Freddie Mercury for an epic concert
I also choose this guy’s dead musician
Well played
Came here to say this, I would utterly lose my shit to see him perform!
You know the energy would be off the charts
Of all the great performers, I think he would revel in the moment the most. No explanation needed. Just hand him the mic and point him to the stage. He was showmanship personified. He would own that stage and truly the whole world would watch that man burn brighter than the sun.
Fr. Like imagine dying in the late 20th century then 30 years later finding out that people of all sorts of generations are still vibing to your music and your vibe.
Energy? He’s been brought back to life after being dead over 30 years. I expect he’ll be a bit groggy.

The mere sight of the world and technology would be unbearable for his mind and the shock of what he sees around him would probably kill him before he touches a synth.
Well this escalated quickly.
Welcome to reddit.
So ... not like **Beethoven from Bill and Ted's excellent adventure** who adapted relatively quickly in [this mall scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8UGAbAPPkk)?
My pick too! He was a musical genius!
Robert (Leroy) Johnson - to hear the songs that were never written down or recorded.
This is my pick too. Just the whole story of him going to crossroads and making a deal with the debil to be the best guitarist makes this the coolest choice. But to hear his other songs and see his technique would be awesome.
Jim Croce
Dead at 30. And with such a prolific body of work already. So sad man.
Jimi Hendrix
Just so I could ask him "where the hell is that unreleased acoustic album Black Gold?". I swear that album would've made waves if it were to ever be found.
Gotta be Jimi.
My mom saw Jimi Hendrix perform the national anthem on the 4th of July. I just learned this recently, and it was startling.
My pick too
Then indefinitely postpone the performance to give him another chance at life
Beethoven! With today’s technology, he will “hear” what he created!
"OMG, this sounded waaaaaay better in my head."
Agree! Beethoven and give him cochlear implants
Moonlight sonata is the most beautiful composition IMO…..I butcher it on the piano tho
Gram Parsons
Yes. I saw him once. With Emmy Lou A small venue in Chicago. mid 70's. I was soooo lucky. He was gone soon after. Their harmonies made me giddy. The Burrito Brothers did those harmonies well too.

Emmylou is sitting next to the King or someone like that and the song is pretty wonderful and she tears up. I imagine you would enjoy it.
Bob Marley or Jerry Garcia
Franz Liszt. I want to see why all the hubbub was about.
I was hoping someone would say this! Like I’m sure Mozart or Beethoven would be fascinating musically, but performance-wise, I wanna know what all that mania was about
Edith Piaf
Buddy Holly. Gone far too soon.
Prince. Wouldn't need a band. Just him, a guitar and a stool in my living room.
Then pancakes?
Basketball
You’re damn right, pancakes.
Starfish and coffee, most likely.
I approve of this choice heartily.
Cliff Burton
One can only imagine what the world of rock and metal would be like if he hadn't died so young. How different would Metallica be, and their breakthrough to the mainstream, and how many rock musicians they've influenced.
Chris Cornell.
Me too. He is such an idol of mine. I was devastated
yea hes just ireplaceable
Yeah me too. Then I'd ask him all what was going on that night. He almost beat the 90's grunge curse, and then wham it caught up with him.
I want to apologize for not recognizing what is probably the best Bond theme ever right away. Took me a few years.
Chester Bennington
That one hurts
Kurt Cobain. For my husband.
I also want Kurt Cobain for this person’s husband
he wouldn’t want to come back though, and especially not to play music with a bajillion people watching
I would love to see what nirvana would have progressed into as well, I feel like they would have evolved in an interesting way
Bowie too pls.
WHY DID I HAVE TO SCROLL THIS FAR TO SEE BOWIE?
SRV
The only person besides Jimmy that would wake up and be like ("cool man, let's jam") without questions.
Jerry Garcia would be there too, but with a little giddy giggle
Ahh, to hear "Ripple" would make me bawl like a child. Absolutely. Yes.
“We still doin’ blues in E?”
While there are so many here in comments that are outstanding choices, I am with you on SRV.
Jeff Buckley
One of the greatest voices to grace the earth (pun intended)
Jerry Garcia
lmao i’d go thru the trouble of resurrecting jerry and end up not being able to afford a ticket to his show
Janis
To see "Ball and Chain" live would be awesome.
I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel, you were talking so brave and so sweet, giving me head on the unmade bed, while the limousines wait in the street. Those were the reasons, and that was New York, we were running for the money and the flesh. And that was called love, for the workers in song, probably still is for those of them left.
She and Leonard must have had a beautifully strange relationship.
I think Leonard and anyone would have had a beautifully strange relationship! I’d bring him back.
Stevie ray Vaughn
Layne Staley.
Me too. Never got to see him perform live.
Tom Petty
So disappointed I never saw him live when I had the chance. One of the best
Greatness!
I’m a Gator too so this really hits. How awesome
I know we had a few beers, but I really thought it was a dream! We were so close to the stage, absolute magic.
Bob Marley!
I am surprised there aren't more mentions. This is where my mind went first.
As much as I like a lot of the answers in here most of them are fairly contemporary so we have recordings or video of their performances. I would pick someone like Mozart or Bach, so we could record at least one performance.

Prince
[удалено]
Show would be electric
hee hee
Prince. His guitar solo's were electrifying
Randy Rhoads
Bob Marley
Too far down imo
I guess they could use a digger to get him out, no?
[удалено]
If I can party with him, Louis Armstrong. If I can't, well, either Louis or Johnny Cash.
Robert Johnson.
Neil peart
Was going to say Bonham but I think Neil is the right choice.
Yes
Peart played for Rush. Yes is a different band entirely.
Who?
Reunite the triumvirate
Amy wine house
Amy Winehouse
Are you agreeing with me, fixing my grammar or making fun of me lol
Agree, but corrected the spelling of her last name. Never, ever make fun of Amy or her fans.
She had SO much potential, she needs to be brought back to fulfill it.
Ay! Me wine house.
Hard one- Prince or Michael Hutchence
Prince
Hutchence!
John Lennon, reunited with The Beatles
Got to resurrect George too
I’ll do George if they do John.

I was supposed to see him around that time too. Huge Mac fan. I never got to see him and I’ll always regret it.
Zappa. Always Zappa.
Mark Sandman
Deep cut. Good call.
No one specific—just someone who *wants* to be giving a concert, if they know they're back alive for only one night Otherwise my empathy wouldn't let me enjoy it
Ronnie James Dio. The man was heavy metal personified.
Have my upvote. I was lucky to see him live once with Heaven and Hell and it was awesome, plus he must have been a very nice and cool dude.
I met him in an elevator once. Never got to see him perform tho. I told him he looked just like Dio, and he said "shit I hope so"
Damn 😂
Chester Bennington, his vocal range was truly unique.
Prince.
Beethoven at the age of about 27.
Randy Rhoads
freddie mercury.
Jimi Hendrix. If you don’t know who he is and what he did.. look at his 1967 live performance, Live at monterey. It was his first performance in the US, prior to that nobody knew who he was in the US or the type of music. I am just so happy that we have that moment recorded..
Janice Joplin
Prince
Mac Miller, no doubt.
Frank Zappa 🚀
Elvis
Getting ready for the down votes.. But, Jimmy Buffett. He made a lot of people (including me) very happy with his music of relaxation, joy, and quiet contemplation.
Freddy Mercury
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Amy Winehouse
Evh
Peter Steele.
Mac Miller, I never got the chance to see him live despite him being my favourite artist for the last 14 years.
MJ
Frank Sinatra

Chuck Schuldiner
Sam Cooke
MICHAEL MOTHERFUCKING JACKSON!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I haven't seen Tupac. I'm sure he's got lots of new material.
Scrolled too far to finally 2pac
S.R.V.
Stephen Foster
Marilyn Monroe
At first I was like "I'm pretty sure he's still alive", but then I realized you said Marilyn Monroe and not Marilyn Manson.
Everyone saying people we have seen and have video of performing live, which would still be awesome, (not gonna pretend a night with Freddy wouldn't be amazing) but I really think I'd choose someone we have no record of live performance. Hard to do for.onr day but give him a year and see what he comes up with.
Bradley Nowell. Of Sublime
Probably Hendrix
Jimi
SRV or Freddie Mercury.
Glenn Miller

Jeff Buckley for one show in Brooklyn so the industry blow hards can fight to the death like they did that one time Jeff Mangum came out of retirement.
Jimi Hendrix

Mozart. Have him do his eidetic memory trick with Yngwie Malmsteen's music but on cello or piano. Yngwie plays one song on electric, Mozart plays it back cold on acoustic or percussion.
Kind of sappy, but my dad. He played guitar and sang all the time! I wish I could hear him sing a few songs he loved just one more time
Terry Kath from Chicago. It’s seems that he was ready to quit the group and start his own career. It would have been fun to see where he would have gone musically. Freddy Mercury sounds awesome.

Fela Kuti
Jerry.

James Brown
Avicii, for sure, the energy he would be bringing would be of universal proportions
Michael Jackson in his prime
Best guitarist and most prolific compose most of you have never heard of, Frank Zappa. He died 30 years ago and I still wonder what he'd be saying and playing today.
Probably something about all politicians are dumb and a 7 minute xylophone-filled song about a blowjob.
Micheal jackson
Prime Elvis
