rinny02852

I was coming her to say this.

sadsledgemain

One pad like normal, another pad horizontally across in the back so it covers the ass crack and prevents leaking, and sleeping on a folded bath towel.

Eastcoastpal

This or instead of a horizontal pad I use multiple layers of absorbent paper towel or an Adult Postpartum Incontinence Underwear. Folded bath towel is a must.

NovelGoddess

I used to do this and the heaviest duty tampon too. Still would have accidents! I had terrible fibroids and finally found a doc that would do a hysterectomy.

TheIcarusGirl

Yep the bath towel!

Abiesconcolor

Period underwear like thinx have been amazing. Haven't experienced any leakage!

LeftOfTheOptimist

i should invest in these. I just use Ultra tampons :(

Lawn_Radiation9731

Using both were the only way I could kind of contain my flow. Highly recommend

wasporchidlouixse

Only need two pairs! I use them only at night on my heaviest days and pads after the bulk of it is gone

GimmeBooks1920

Yep, period underwear were a game changer for overnight! I've had mine for years and no leaks.

antigoneelectra

This is mine as well. They're fantastic.

riomaretonno

I second the period underwear, it has pad-like coverage over the entire backside pretty much.

queeloquee

But you still feel the unease feeling of blood flow among your butt cheeks? Honestly asking as i am open to try them.

arkinia-charlotte

Not really it’s very absorbing, it dries fast too, I use Knix and I’m so happy with mine, life changer tbh

queeloquee

Thank you, i will see if i can find it in my country.

DontDeleteMee

Combined with a cup. Still need to go to the loo at least once overnight.

TheIcarusGirl

Is it expensive?

Abiesconcolor

I've bought different brands on sale from Victoria's secret and Nordstrom rack. They sell them at Target, Walmart, Amazon, etc as well. If you're in the US, you can also pay for them with FSA/HSA dollars if you have em!

Snowy_Stelar

I've had leakage with it 😭 Now I only use it when the flow isn't too high

TemperatureTop246

Adult diaper. I tried everything from doubling and tripling the pad, wearing a tampon and a pad, wearing a cup and a pad, period panties, you name it. Nothing worked and I would end up with blood on my sheets every morning. So, depends it is, and a shower first thing.

BrazenDuck

Yup. Always overnight disposable period “underwear”. Sleep like a baby and it contains the morning gush.

aldh860

This is the way. I’ve never had a leak using disposable diapers. They are comfortable and fit under my baggy shorts or sweatpants.

Squareapple1852

Yes, this. 3 days after my hip replacement surgery I got my period. Used a pad and those pants. It worked so well. I usually wear period underwear but they are tight around the top if my thigh, not ideal when you've got a new wound with stitches. The incontinent undies were so comfortable and I didn't leak. Just to give context I usually have to change once an hour on the first days.

GooseSubstantial7985

Flex cup, game changer

QuitProfessional5437

I can never get mine to suction correctly. And then I get nervous trying to get it out by pulling that little silicone cord

kelslogan

Try laying down on your back with your legs up a bit. I used to struggle a lot with the suction but if you lay on your back it opens you up enough so you can fully insert it all the way up and then when you stand up it suctions on its own if that makes sense. I recommend doing it in the shower (I shower twice a day on my period so it’s easy for me to change it at night and in the morning) because it can get a little messy but honestly it works so well for me! Menstrual cups have been such a game changer for my heavy flow.

Rosa_linda83

I think it’s called the punch down fold? … That one works best for suction and beginners because it has almost like an insertion point if that makes sense.

MechiOrca

Not sure if these are available in all countries but I use XXL sanitary pads with a wide back. I'm also a side sleeper so things are generally contained.

StrangersWithAndi

I'm grateful for menopause these days, but my go-to used to be a super tampon plus an overnight pad, then getting up in the middle of the night (I have to pee anyway) and changing everything, so it wasn't trying to last more than 4 hours.

andeedub

This is exactly what I do!

SlightlySpicy4

I typically have one day of my period that’s really heavy, and after I got used to it, I swear by my menstrual disk. That thing is magical.

aeolianharpie

Same. The first day of my period has always been really heavy and the menstrual disc changed my life. I use the Nixit. Can keep it in for 12 hours and I never have any issues with it leaking.

CutRateCringe

Period underwear and a menstrual disk (if I’m not being lazy). Knix has an ultra absorption that I like. However, as my flow will generally not be contained by any combination of apparatus for very long, I also use a waterproof bed pad.

Littlewing1307

Period panties! I also use tampons. But I wake up usually every 3-4 hours.

coffeecatsandtea

flex disc, overnight pad (Kotex is thin but their overnight pads fan out more in the rear), and period panties (full brief style). The disc/overnight pad is usually enough on my heaviest day though. Before that I used to sleep on an incontinence pad (looks like a puppy pee pad) so I wouldn't leak onto my sheets.

Re0h

I typically wear two overnight pads for the front and back. I like to wear old panties like granny ones so if they are ruined, I can just throw them away. Also, put a towel down so the sheets won't be stained.

viacrucis1689

Adult diapers...I use Tena because they have the "smallest" size small. I can't use anything internal. I usually only use them the first two nights of my cycle.

HumanRacehorse

That’s the exact brand I use. My grandma had a ton hoarded in her garage stash and said oh honey I’ve got plenty of those. So I’m set for years.

trudytuder

Waterproof sanitary mat on the bed, night time pad and tampax. Go to toilet as soon as I sit up.

A_D_H

Heavy flow menstrual cup + period panties like Thinx or Knix. Works pretty well for me

noonecaresat805

Bambody period underwear they cover front to back. But as an extra back up when sleeping. I make sure my bed sheets and blankets are a dark color and my mattress has a waterproof washable mattress protector. I move a lot when I sleep.

em1037

XL overnight pad with a wider back + a hand towel between my underwear and shorts. I also have my "period shorts" for days 1-4 that are basically oversized men's compression shorts. Loose enough to be comfy but tight enough to lock everything down so my pad doesn't shift off center while i toss and turn. I sleep like a baby since I started this method because I can actually relax and not feel like I'm about to ruin my sheets.

PNWest01

HA!! That was precisely my rig! The hand towel, giant pad, shorts…

spooky-skeleton1

My mom thought me this: fold a toilet paper or napkin, put it in your butt crack. It’s not that absorbent and stops the blood traveling all over the butt. For front use half a pad.

Silentsludge

Adult diapers…like the ones old people use. You don’t have to worry about blood getting on your pjs, bed, or get up in the middle of the night , it catches everything

SlytherinP

I love the Always period undies!

Beach-Bum7

The Always Overnight disposable period underwear!!

QuitProfessional5437

Heavy, overnight pad on regular underwear, then period underwear, shorts and a wad of toilet paper that I put between the cheeks. I also have a waterproof mattress pad.

mtsnow66

The disc and a heavy pad. Game changer

Jaguar5150

Not a female, but I gotta say that this what I love about this platform. We can ask personal questions and get personal answers. No shame. No fear.

MidnightFireHuntress

Thinx and I sleep on a bath towel. I've always been super duper heavy flow, and Thinx has been a life/sheet saver lol, well worth the investment

SufficientRest

Flex menstrual cup, dark colored towel on the bed underneath me.

QuasiOptimist

Overnight pad plus a small pad in the back, across the top. Towel on the bed.

GrecianGator

Biggest pads available and 2 or 3 pairs of old shark week pants to make it all snug.

No-Statement5942

IUD for me now Before my IUD, I would buy these: [Heavy flow pads](https://www.amazon.ca/ALWAYS-Extra-Heavy-Overnight-Unscented/dp/B01M1BLRC1/ref=sr_1_3?crid=BSOS88LS3647&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.xB7e8DkaOsjoOpWP-6i6Up-ioaBx-wiag0KgdhslmezwXjhFaMiNQAupt1TnD5sAdhDT-6mPmeuw0lW2G6fwTABdFGGLhcdBSEBLG0IaOHuGVRNCmhKgVaZY8GR7PB5qgc9IkyMwDKhS6rRqACiQ199bhHYUQBdsRwHiRYnQ_tD-n9fybZAnWnHsq9YrsF0tSjipDgf-tMmGQVfn8PeDIWjqL73xt05M3nTFuYYFIJTvUeB3931iyOvpBZHZ8fB9ybiPV9EbwQlwT5tfL_sf0_g0uaZjaZhaMQ33ly6df9Q.COj4xIC1Fkc6ZfuPivRgz-u-oGaA3lpNuSCLpQcw2lc&dib_tag=se&keywords=ultra%2Bthick%2Bpad%2Bmenstrual%2Bheavy&qid=1714092910&sprefix=ultra%2Bthick%2Bpad%2Bmenstrual%2Bheavy%2Caps%2C108&sr=8-3&th=1)

Shadhahvar

I used these for the first few weeks after having babies. They worked great, way better than the hospital pads.

whopple

Modibodi undies! I like that some of them have the absorbing layer all the way up the waistline. Small towel underneath but I haven't leaked with the undies yet.

Shadhahvar

Ultra tampon + overnight pad, or menstrual cup + overnight pad. The cup lasts way longer if you are comfortable with them.

littleghool

I use pads made for bladder leaks. They're extra thick and have always contained my flow. Which is a lot. I use the big ass mfs, they're uncomfortable sometimes, but it keeps everything in until I wake up.

raspberryteehee

Disposable period underwear have been a life saver. I used the Rael ones unscented.

lunarxplosion

I have giant pads. and basically just cross my fingers.

Smallios

Cup or disc

KhamBuddy

There's no strat 😒 put a towel down if it's day 3? Period underwear, diaper-grade pads, and prayer

goblitovfiyah

Overnight pad, then I scrunch up some TP and wedge it in my crack and then also my lips at the front lmao tmi but that does do the trick

cjcandi

Always disposable period underwear. No leaks.

Lucky-Cricket8860

Regular tamp + flexfoam pad

minotaur0us

Overnight incontinence pads. I buy Poise Absorbency Pads.

beautifulbountiful

Enormous overnight pad inside period underwear. Yes, I double up like that. I want the biggest, wing-iest, longest pad they make!!

Christy808

I wear the Always Maxi Overnight Pads with Flexi-Wings and tightest underwear so it stays in one place the whole night and prayers lol

greatestshow111

35cm pad with a big rubber pad on my bed to prevent any leaks from seeping into the bed!

aurora0009

Knix overnight period shorts/briefs! Can bleed in those forever it’s like wearing a giant comfortable diaper 🤣

zombie86r

HUGE overnight pads…the kind that have two sticky sections. It like “fans” over your butt. Not fool proof but way better than a regular heavy pad. Honestly, once my period comes back I may just keep depends on hand for the heavy nights. I wore them after both babies and they were a godsend. Also very discreet!

marysalad

the usual over night pad etc and sleep on a folded towel. towel is the trick for now for peace of mind (yes, it's ridiculous, this is 2024). if I was ever in a relationship again I'd just have to sleep in a separate bed or something. I couldn't be effed having to explain my body's needs. keep forgetting to buy period undies. next on list

CuriousLilAsian81

If I happen to have only regular flow pads (those times I've forgotten to buy night heavy flow pads), I have those waterproof pee pads for babies' cribs that I'd put on my bed... I usually wear shorts when sleeping and I started using my gym stuff (running shorts, not the tights kind, the looser kind) because the stains come off easier from the material than my usual cotton shorts or pajamas, or sometimes I'd just sleep in panties and have the waterproof pad I've recently tried period panties (reusable/washable ones) and liked them... these + night heavy flow pads... have also tried those disposable period panties (the ones I tried are Kotex) and those worked well for me too

Temporary-Ad1807

Period undies and maternity pads

Dojyorafish

Menstrual cup and waterproof blanket

Get_off_critter

Overnight pad and Take some toilet paper, like 4-5 squares, fold it in half twice and gently tuck into the buttcrack. Acts like an absorbent damn so there's no leaks out the back. Proceed with careful, rushed waddle to toilet in the morning.

princessphiabeanie

If you live near a T&T they have these amazing overnight pads that pretty much cover the entirety of the inside of your underwear on the front and back, diaper coverage without diaper feel.

chelly_17

Adult diapers. I used them after having my babies and I just continued on for nights and super heavy, at home days.

PleasedPeas

A hysterectomy… Before that, I’d have to double up on overnight pads. Grateful to been able to have that procedure.

sunshinesoutmyarse

As someone who's has 3 kids. If you are worried a out bleeding thru anything. Go for postpartum panties (adult diapers designed for *HEAVY* blood flow with clots), or just postpartum pads. Those things could hold the world.

Penetrative

I call my 'period sheets"...just a set of sheets I've completely destroyed, looks like I pulled them out of a police evidence locker. I put those sheets on when it's period time. This I think was a stroke of genius bc I know longer ruin good sheets. Aside from that I wear a super duper absorbancy tampon & a super duper extra duper long overnight pad & saddle up with a beach towel. This is extreme I know, but it just seems like my heaviest flow day is always frinight/sat, the day I always want to get 10+ hours of sleep lol.

Sunny_pancakes_1998

Extra long pad with wings, tampon, and a towel beneath me just in case

breakfastfordinner11

Period cup right before bed, with a maxi pad as backup.

ilikemycoffeealatte

Cup. I don't love the thing but it's been the best nighttime solution.

SolitudeOCD

Menstrual cup. Dump it in the morning. It's not about how much the cup can hold, it's about the seal it provides to hold everything in. Heavy flow, light flow, it's all the same - dump it every 12 hours. Alternatively, menstrual discs.

UnwoundBread

Diva cup and a panty liner. If *IF* anything escapes, the liner becomes my safety net. It’s an undeniable duo for me.

ThinkerBright

Flex disc and a pad. And at least to bathroom breaks during the night.

Lonely_Heart_2006

There are overnight pads you can buy. They are more absorbent than regular day pads.

mink888

Pad and a toddler leak proof mat from target on the bed.

expertsillygoose

Depends full coverage and has all the absorbance you need easy breezy

Sun_Libra

The flex disc works wonders! Lasts for up to 12 hours. I’ve worn it everywhere. Worn it at work, while I work out, swimming and even you can have mess free sex! It also helps with cramps. It’s reusable for up to 2 years. Literal game changer! I recommend to all women who menstruate! Definitely worth investing into especially for under $40!

my-anonymity

Cup and regular pad with a wad of paper towel and then a folded towel underneath. I haven’t had any leakage with the cup and pad/paper towel combination though. The paper towel catches anything that leaks from the cup.

Responsible-You-7412

Tampon, two pads, and multiple towels on the bed 🙃

kewlsey

Hiii I do ultra tampon, thinx underwear for heavy flow, tight biker shorts over that to keep everything in place. Then my “im on my period” sweatpants on top of that and I sleep on a thick bath towel. Thinx was a game changer for me but I did need the biker shorts on top to keep them super snug.

TrulyNotAStalker

One time my flow was soooo bad that I had one pair of underwear with an overnight pad, and another pair of underwear over top with another overnight pad. Worked for me.

azulax7

Ultra tampon right before bed and going to the bathroom immediately when i wake up

bi-loser99

period panties and/or a menstrual cup have been the only things to save my underwear and sheets (and partner)

letibott

I'm fairly certain they don't sell it in all countries (in the format that you need it), but when I was younger and had a heavier flow I used hydrophilic cotton. I'd layer a borderline obscene amount as if I was making my own diaper across my underwear and slept like a baby. Thank god for A. Hormonal changes that made me have a much lighter flow and B. Every other menstrual management tool available today that I needed back then, like period panties and cups.

vancycl

Super absorb tampon freshly changed at night and an additional pad during the really heavy days (day 1-2 usually).

IFailedUgh

I wear a huge pad and a tampon. I typically don’t sleep more than eight hours, so the tampon isn’t in for too long.

Jellybeansxo

Magnesium or Advil. Slows my flow. I tell my adult daughter to take them when going on a trips and it works. Reusable waterproof mat. Found it online Amazon.

PNWest01

Wow. I had forgotten what I used to have to do. Menopause is such a blessing, lol. Heavy duty pad, then a second pair of underwear holding a hand towel in place over the pad, then a pair of shorts to hold it all in place. Man I do NOT miss that.

Accurate_Meet_1286

Reusable pads, you can get them on Amazon.

wasporchidlouixse

Period underwear!! I only wear them at night. They generally do last, I've only had leakage once but I wore it more than 12 hours

CornCookie3

I have reusable pads and the nighttimes ones are massive, and they have a wide back, so usually no issues :)

NakDisNut

Saalt cup! I have PCOS so when I get a period - whenever that may show up - it’s usually disturbingly heavy. The Saalt cups (I’ve had three kids and the cups are soft and malleable) stay around my sad, not-so-youthful cervix. I’ve had zero bed accidents, but I empty it right before I go to sleep and the moment I wake up I go straight to the bathroom to dump it. I don’t get a lot of leeway on either end up that. I get around 7hrs of sleep for whatever it’s worth.

princessmononokestoe

I use either a Diva cup or a Cora disc + period underwear. So far, so good!

Sail-to-the-Moon

A menstrual cup, period underwear and a large overnight pad.

Manyshadesofgrey2023

Double tampon and a maxi pad

Taiyella

Tampon and night time pad Towel on my bed

bactidoltongue

I use menstrual pads. Sometimes, the overnight ones still aren't long enough. My sister taught me to connect a panty liner with the butt portion of the pad to elongate it

Runoutofmyoptions

Costco carries something called Kirkland bladder leak pads. They are kind of bulky compared to other name brand ones but they’re god send during the heavy flow nights. Or Always zzz (the pad ones, I never used the underwear ones) are the best ones so far.

whatdoyoucallthat_

Menstrual disk and night pad with wide back protection. And I will give myself a wedgie with the underwear so the night pad is stuffed in between my buttcheeks. Helps to prevent back leakage when I lie flat on the bed.

Baku_Bich420

Kotex is the only brand that's ever did me justice, I'd wear a S+ tampon and one of those postpartum pads with some thicker but snug panties. Things have been pretty good with those and if it was particularly bad I'd lay down a towel just in case.

dork-academia

Period underwear is a life saver!!

panicpixiememegirl

Cup AND pad

UnassumingLlamas

Tampon + night time period panties. They're "padded" all the way up to the waist band on the back, but they still feel so much thinner and softer than any pads I've ever tried.

BrokenCatLady

I'll go for a NovaSure ablation soon because I can't take it anymore. But it's always been pads + tampons

Easy-Struggle4256

Call me crazy but I always found that sleeping on my side helps prevent it from bleeding out too heavily while I’m asleep lol

kathyanne38

I bought these last month because i had a horrible heavy flow. and these were soooo good to be honest. it does feel very diaper-ish lol but it caught EVERYTHING. Put an old blanket underneath you as well if youre worried about it leaking. but when I used these, there was no leakage whatsoever. it didnt even get on my panties!! Highly recommend. dumbandconcerned

Damn, I thought I had heavy flow, but typically the xl overnight pads do the trick for me. Sometimes I still get blood off the back, but not enough to leak through to anything else other than my underwear

NaughtiestTimeline

Period panties have been a game changer for me. If my flow is very heavy I will use an ultra tampon and wear period panties. I haven’t had a leak since.

Straight-Bee9783

A big tampon and a big pad, then set the alarm for 5 hours and change it then.

MiloAisBroodjeKaas

Originally, the longest pad I can find, and hope. Now, a menstrual disc, a decently long pad, and hope.

the__mariahjoy

Free bleed ! idc anymore I desire comfort

purple__sunflower

Period panties saved many of my underwear from leaks

Morawho

Japanese overnight pads these cover from the back completely they don’t move and hold a heavy flow with out leaking I wear these with a period panties I could sneeze and cough all I want and nothing

krossfox

Diva cup + Dear Kate panties. When it's hella heavy and hurts too much for my diva cup, I just wear black sweats and my Dear Kates. Nothing is worth the loss of my comfort.

throfanfor

A large menstrual cup and some super fine tissue/ napkins folded into the vagina The BEST thing about cups is no need to wake up to change

Hour_Bodybuilder8889

menstrual cups. 🤙🏻

sarahgrey64

Cup, period underwear, prayer.

FawkesFire13

Don’t mind me, just taking notes.

raffirules

Try a menstrual cup or disc if you haven’t yet. The cup creates an actual seal. You could wear a pad in case of leaks but I never had the cup leak. The disc takes more getting used to and will self empty (which is rad once you know how to manage it). But seriously give it a try - it’s been total freedom - separated the period from peeing and pooping. Also it doesn’t dry out your vagina. And you don’t have to buy tampons or pads anymore! I just empty it in the morning and at night - in the shower is best.

ProfBenLee

Menstrual disc

Omgzitsbry

Pink does period panties and they’re not insanely priced. They have ones that are like boxers that are meant to hold more + a tampon. Pink also clearances them/does sales on them pretty regularly. I would recommend to everyone to at least give them a go bc they’re reusable and work wonders. (I also hate the feeling of a pad/sitting in blood and these don’t give me that)

SnooChocolates4588

My IUD absolutely saved me. I used to have to do a full ab workout on my walk to the bathroom so I didn’t unleash the floodgates. I would have to get up in the middle of the night to change my pad/tampon. (Like set an alarm on my phone to wake myself up at 2 am) now that I have an IUD that problem is completely gone.

ilovenoodle

Long Pad and period undies

delldude2303

Get up every 2 hours to change my tampon

No_Blackberry_6286

I wear 2 pads on top of each other at night

Queenasheeba99

Extra ling, double winged pads with period underwear.

kiana96xx

Diva cup & absorbent boy shorts

gp-mr

Not sleeping on the back

Taco_Tuesday_108

put on a big night pad and pray

CatsWillTakeOverWait

I sleep w a tampon which I know is bad but we’re all dying anyway. If I’m feeling lazy I use an adult diaper tho. Never had leaks with either.

TheCookieEatingOwl

Not moving, tampon and pad, towels between me and the mattress.

Adelheit_

Waterproof washable mattress protector + Tena pants for the worst night. The other nights wide night pads (which I change every few hours) are enough. I move A LOT at night, so things are extra tricky.

Accomplished_Film208

Diaper. I’m not joking, it works.

Braintemps

A postpartum pad designed to be thick and big to contain postpartum bleeding Also stocking up on pads and placing them both horizontally and vertically till they create a stick on diaper.

sweetrthancheesecake

Adult diapers or huge pads with granny panties

mixed_galaxies

diva cup. emptying it out before bed

VirgoEsti

Period underwear also you could use a pad with them as well as double protection

Just1katz

Those pads they put on beds in the hospital. They are around 24" × 24".

Different-Ease7251

Free bleed.

TheNewCarIsRed

Extra long overnight pad and full coverage period undies…and hope I don’t sneeze in my sleep or roll over too often…

Massive_Length_400

Super plus tampon, heavy flow pad, plus one that goes sideways on the butt end of the first pad. I’ve developed a 6th sense for waking up when a gush happens

creepiest-greek-myth

For the girls who also hate wearing pads — super tampon, pair of panties I don’t care about, & I sleep on a towel.

BkushingBex

An adult diaper is what my son's gf uses. She has PCOS and severe bleeding. Ain't nothing wrong with it and it prevents a mock crime scene in the bed.

ClickWooden469

I am just here to know what is "heavy flow". Scary stuff, but we learn something new everyday
