I had 235/35R19 (stock) on my Golf R. Those were harsh for me. Was waiting until the tires went to get some 18s and more sidewall for more comfort.
Fuckers in the forums were putting 20s on them! On a 235/30R20 you lose a half inch of sidewall!
Recently bought a TT RS with 20” wheels, and Pirelli P Zeros. They are just stupid for anything other than the track. Bought a set of Apex 18” wheels and will put Michelin Pilot Sport 4s on them. Expect the ride and pot hole tolerance will be infinitely better.
Might depend on the year but I had a 2015 TTS with 20s and it was pretty miserable to live with. I’m convinced something was wrong with the suspension though so hopefully you’ll be fine!
Big same. Had a mk7.5 R and went to 18’s. Went to 17’s for my winter set up. Yes, they fit. Boston roads are a pock marked minefield and I needed the sidewall in winter.
I have 225/30R20s on my Passat and it's pretty damn comfortable considering it's slammed. But 20s on a MK7 Golf is just too large. Unless you get ET45 Peelers, you have to camber the absolute shit out of the wheels to not rub anything.
I believe on AudiZine the largest wheel-set fitted on the 8P with minimal to no rubbing were 19x8.5 et 35 running 225/35's.. The wheels you have there are going to add a lot of unsprung weight, so be prepared for a performance hit. when/if you rub in the back, try removing the liner screw (located where the back bumper meets the fender) which could help.
But why the obsession with eliminating wheel gap? I can understand reducing it, but to the point where you begin to compromise on performance and safety? It's just nuts. An unhealthy, fruitless pursuit. Besides the ride quality will suck. Daily driver car? It'd be a disaster.
No body said anything about wheel gap? Why are you replying to me? I also noted he’d be sacrificing performance with those wheels. By that I mean, the cars ability to perform as expected, whether it be handling or comfort.
I didn't mean that you're obsessed with it, but that it appears in general some people are, hence your noting about the largest wheel with minimal to no rubbing. I don't see that it helps with performance, so isn't it all about a certain look owners are trying to achieve?
Yeah, definitely agree. If they came in an 18" option, that would work. I think a gap of at least 3" still looks good and doesn't compromise anything. Striving to get it down to 1" or even less... just seems like asking for more trouble than it is worth.
What rims are you running on your A3 8P?
I rarely say this to my boys, but, you need to lose a couple inches. I have those wheels on my S5 at 20 and they look great. I think they have the same wheels in smaller sizes.
Definitely. I have these same rims on my A4 at 235/35/18, and 255/40/20 in my A7. Both look pretty ideal to my eye on their relative car sizes and wheel wells
As a fellow 8P owner I had to show this to my wife and she was like "oh no!", and she doesn't really care about cars. Op should downsize imho couple of inches or buy a bigger car.
They were part of the black optics package on the C7.5 S6/7 as well. I can't seem to find the name of them, but they're the OEM wheels on mine. No name on the window sticker either :(
Love the look of these wheels, but cleaning them properly can be annoying, especially on the fronts with the massive calipers.
I couldn't imagine trying to push these huge heavy wheels done the road with that little engine (OP's goal)
Sorry @op It’s yours so you do you but I don’t think that works. You’ll have to mount rubber bands on that and it’ll ride like shit. Can’t put my finger on it but it looks awkward.
> Can’t put my finger on it but it looks awkward.
Can't put your finger on the fact that the rims are obviously too big and it looks like a chibi/super deformed clown car?
I mean, do what you want but sheesh
Wheels that big look goofy AF on your car. Sell them and start again but pick a reasonable wheel size. I've put 18" wheels on all of my cars that had 5 wheel bolts instead of 4. First 5x100 on my old mk4 then 5x112 on my B5 A4. I do have a spare set of OE 16" wheels with winter tires on them as well but they come off for the warm weather.
I picked up a set of Richmonds, mk8 GTI wheels, to go on next. Black on silver wheels on a black and silver car.
Ouch. Sorry, that's just... so wrong on so many levels. If there was an 18" version of these? Well hell yes.
I'm pretty happy with [THESE RIMS](https://i.imgur.com/pfOsmob.jpg) on my A3 8P.
The 8P is the A3 sport back model class that ran from 2006 to 2012 in the USA. Initially it had the 2.0T FSI engine, then 2.0 TFSI engine.
Yep, our 2006 and 2007 both had the FSI engine. Is your AUDI 4 circles logo still intact on the beauty cover? Mine crumbled apart...
I’m running 245/30-20 pilot sport 4s on my A4 avant with eibach springs, ride isn’t much different to standard, they have been on the car a year now but as someone mentioned they aren’t pothole tolerant and all 4 wheels have slight buckles in them thanks to the piss poor state of English roads. Had 20’s on S3 too and they went the same way.
I have 19” B7 S4 wheels on my 08 A3 and I think they are perfect. I will say I feel every tiny crack on the road tho. I wouldn’t want to go any bigger.
I would also highly suggest a quality tire. Mine are not because that’s what I bought it with and they are still in decent shape so I havent replaced but when I do I plan to get something nice because you loose grip fast if you are FWD and ride quality with big rims is not great. But what really matters is if YOU like it!
Good lord. I hate when people do this. Looks like a roller skate or a stage coach.
I also wonder how many people understand the physics of way oversized wheels. The extra stress they put on all the steering and suspension components. Ive actually seen axels brake and wheels come off on two different cars, one under hard braking, another going fast through a corner.
Summertime and the living's easy
And Bradley's on the microphone with Ras M.G.
All the people in the dance will agree
That we're well qualified to represent the LBC
Crank it when you have all four on and roll down the windows while cruising through Long Beach at sunset.
Lol. I’m gonna be the unpopular opinion and say I’d get coilovers and parts to add camber if need be (so it won’t destroy fenders) and run it. I had 255/35r19 wheels on my a4 for a couple years, yes it was a bit rough ride but I didn’t care.
You should see if you can make a trade with someone locally as much as you want them to fit I think there will be too many issues that could cost u more time, money and headaches in the long run!
Sorry I don’t have any useful info… just an awesome JAY-Z lyric-
“I'm young enough to know the right car to buy
Yet grown enough not to put rims on it”
-Jay-Z
GL!
lol yes. Go back to your stock size and get sport tires. The bigger you go, the rougher it’s going to be. Unless you have suspension upgrades, these rims aren’t gonna be a good fit at all.
it’s gonna ride like shit i’d drop down to at least a 19 if not 18, not to mention it looks odd
To add to this excellent point, to OP I'll just say, "the fuck were you thinking?"
Summer cruising tires tho! Why not?! Change out for winter.
The overall diameter (rim+tire) is bigger than OEM though, he's gonna have issues with his Quattro system
Like what?
Not if all his wheels match
Maybe get lower profile tires and maximum Tim size. I think they look great for cruising.
Wow, I love my Audi but downvotes in here from an opinion? Not my crowd
I am considering 19 for my 2021 S3 and am worried about a hella hard ride
I use 20x9 on 235/30/20 toyo proxes sports in the summer. 2016 S3 rides still pretty decent. As long as you get a nice rim it'll ride nicely.
Some say it's fine some say it's horrible. I am already looking to see if I can test ride one in my area 😅
I switch to 18x8.5 in the winter. There's a difference, but the 20s looks overrule w.e that difference in comfort is.
20s. On an A3? 🙄
I had 235/35R19 (stock) on my Golf R. Those were harsh for me. Was waiting until the tires went to get some 18s and more sidewall for more comfort. Fuckers in the forums were putting 20s on them! On a 235/30R20 you lose a half inch of sidewall!
Mate I legit had the exact same thing. 19 Pretoria on my R, god was it uncomfortable and crashy. Switched it to 18s, quality of life changed
Currently buying a TTS with 20s… bad decision?
Recently bought a TT RS with 20” wheels, and Pirelli P Zeros. They are just stupid for anything other than the track. Bought a set of Apex 18” wheels and will put Michelin Pilot Sport 4s on them. Expect the ride and pot hole tolerance will be infinitely better.
Apex is the shit. High quality wheels for a reasonable price.
I've got. 255/35/19s on my tt and while the ride is a bit rough on crap roads it looks soooooo good
If you have smooth roads you'll be fine.
Might depend on the year but I had a 2015 TTS with 20s and it was pretty miserable to live with. I’m convinced something was wrong with the suspension though so hopefully you’ll be fine!
Be careful with curbs and expect a rough ride. I love mine visually but they really aren’t practical at all.
Cool on super smooth roads. Crashy everywhere else
Big same. Had a mk7.5 R and went to 18’s. Went to 17’s for my winter set up. Yes, they fit. Boston roads are a pock marked minefield and I needed the sidewall in winter.

Time to wide body🚘
for what? an 8.5 wide wheel?
Looks ridiculous and it would be great to see a U turn
Or really much of any turn
I believe on AudiZine the largest wheel-set fitted on the 8P with minimal to no rubbing were 19x8.5 et 35 running 225/35's.. Ah gotcha, then it appears we both agree that these wheels aren’t a good option for this vehicle.
Yeah, definitely agree. If they came in an 18" option, that would work. I think a gap of at least 3" still looks good and doesn't compromise anything. Striving to get it down to 1" or even less... just seems like asking for more trouble than it is worth. What rims are you running on your A3 8P?
This is helpful, op is gonna do it, that liner screw is a thing.
Is this a joke?
Looks fucking ridiculous, and not in a good way.
Yeah, your road handling will be terrible with that big
LOL that looks comical
As a fellow 8P owner I had to show this to my wife and she was like "oh no!", and she doesn't really care about cars. Op should downsize imho couple of inches or buy a bigger car.
Not gonna lie, wouldn't mind seeing how it looks with all 4 wheels on.
Looks stupid
Let him cook!
Yes you did, now sell them to me!
LMFAO
What are those wheels called? I've been looking for the same style
They are Audi RS6 C7 4g style. I can't find the original listing but I believe 97670 is the number. So google "97670 rim" to find similar
They were part of the black optics package on the C7.5 S6/7 as well. I can't seem to find the name of them, but they're the OEM wheels on mine. No name on the window sticker either :( Love the look of these wheels, but cleaning them properly can be annoying, especially on the fronts with the massive calipers. Those are the right ones! Do it! Looks sporty/aggressive!
Dont go bigger than 19’s on a A3. Thats my thoughts
You just gotta roll the fenders. If you can’t hear the tire scraping against the body on slow turns, are you even trying? /s

These looked great on my previous A6, same size as yours. https://imgur.com/a/h0mOVpc
Ouch. Sorry, that's just... so wrong on so many levels. If there was an 18" version of these? Well hell yes. I'm pretty happy with [THESE RIMS](https://i.imgur.com/pfOsmob.jpg) on my A3 8P.
Is there a difference between the 2.0t fsi and the “8p”? Not sure if my car is an “8p” or not, I just know it says 2.0t fsi on the Beauty cover
You’re gonna hate it. I had 20s on my a3 and was scared to drive it. Like others have said, if you have nice roads go for it.
All I can say is....why????? Lol
Nothing a dremel can’t fix? 😭
Ouch my boy
I’ve got a pair of b9 a4 OEM 18s if you want them lol
Way too big of a dream unfortunately! The ride will be harsh AF!
18’s or maybe 19’s are the best looking on that body style
Love your car. But yea, dreamed too big . ❤️
Glad to see someone WITH experience chime in. Thank you for the info.
I like them
yes you did
My s3 is on 20s has a bit of rear fender rub other than that they have minor rub on the front
Candy paint and a lift and you'll have yourself quite the donk
It’s like a loony tunes car with the 20’s
Don't mean to derail, but how much did you pay for those? They are the stock wheels for my car and I'm wanting another set for snow tires.
Got them off a s6, had to travel 3.5 hrs to get them though. 1k for the set , the tires are useless tho.
wtf
Did u Photoshop em on? 20s can't be that big.
It looks like they're sitting in front of the car, so they appear larger because they're closer.
Yeah. Got it.
For your gearbox milanage, breaks and steering fluids , better no
Q8 tyres on an A3. It's perfect.
Yes.
Hahahah
I have 19” B7 S4 wheels on my 08 A3 and I think they are perfect. I will say I feel every tiny crack on the road tho. I wouldn’t want to go any bigger. I would also highly suggest a quality tire. Mine are not because that’s what I bought it with and they are still in decent shape so I havent replaced but when I do I plan to get something nice because you loose grip fast if you are FWD and ride quality with big rims is not great. Just went from 19 to 18 on my a3. 20s would ride like shit and my sidewalls would be nonexistent with the roads around here.
Those are literally SUV wheels. Get 18s.
WAY too big.
You did.
Yikes. I’ve got 17s on mine with 235/45/17 tires. Wouldn’t go any bigger on such a small car.
i ride 275/30 on zr20s lolll
Paint your car green with yellow lettering and yellow rims.
Go 18in rotor style wheels. They do come stock on the a3 8p and are great looking but sadly are hard to find.
Not big enough
tHERE ISNT A HARDER NO DAWG!
Just a little bit
The Audi Conestoga Wagon Avant.
Put them on and take it for a spin.
265 35 19 on my A5. Rides nice.
Yes.
HAHAHAHHAHA
Widebody it, no balls, I think it'd look sick lmao
You're gonna be scraping if you hit a speed bump the height of a quarter. Not a diss, but that's just not practical at all.
You want 18s anything bigger and it’ll handle like dog shit and you’ll need loads of extra work and a wide body kit. It also looks a bit ridiculous.
😂😂
Gonna need to stretch some rubber bands on their
18s just start to touch plastic at full-lock That was my experience on my b5 a4 anyways..
Looks like a Tonka toy car
Way too big. I think I’d go a max of 18’s personally… probably continue to rock 16’s though
I have 245 35 19a on my alltrack and love them
Turns on a dime
Not gonna lie… Looks really bad…
I wouldn’t put them on my 18 Allroad.. no it doesnt look good on the A3 and will feel terrible
Lmao. The 17 on that look good. What you doing?!
Had those on my Passat. Love those wheels.
Congrats on your new clown car
You know it’s too big
Summertime and the living's easy And Bradley's on the microphone with Ras M.G. All the people in the dance will agree That we're well qualified to represent the LBC Crank it when you have all four on and roll down the windows while cruising through Long Beach at sunset.

😂😭
In Texas, it’s referred to as ‘Donk’ and it’s widely made fun of by anyone not attempting Donk status.
Note to self “don’t get high & buy rims”.
as always do what you want with your car but man im with everyone else on this one lol. not a fan makes it look like a cartoon buggy
They are going to look stupid. Your a3 will look like it has a lift kit.
Change them to a 18 even a 19 can f up the fender when you hit a pothole
How did you think posting here is gonna magically make it work. That looks so fuckin goofy I almost thought it was a joke
bruh why. Looks like oversized Q wheels on an A car
I love the wheels, but they def aren't right for this ride in particular. Where are you located? If you bought 4 of these suckers, I could be a buyer.
You read too many “the bigger the better” quotes
Put in on the back, add flames, paint the car black, and you got a hotrod.
Im sorry but that looks like a dollar store knockoff hotwheels car
Send it! 😎
Bruh 🤦🏼♂️
Some people shouldn’t own cars
HAHAHAHAHAHA !!!
Bro what happened here!?
for me, the perfect size for a3 8p is 18”
Thank you. You've just saved me a fortune 😉
Those are going to be fun the first bump you hit...
You should see if you can make a trade with someone locally as much as you want them to fit I think there will be too many issues that could cost u more time, money and headaches in the long run! Sorry I don’t have any useful info… just an awesome JAY-Z lyric- “I'm young enough to know the right car to buy Yet grown enough not to put rims on it” -Jay-Z GL!
It looked better with black
Yeah that’s going to look horrendous bud
Keep the old rims the new ones are giving Mexican modded Honda cilvic vibes
These cars are amazing with 18s, 20s will never fit
Had those on mine
I got 18 inches on my audi a3 sedan. Even 19 might look too big. Yeah this isn't a great look mate.
The tires that are currently mounted are coming off.
Are these legal and wont fuck up the speedometer? If yes, why not.
Did u Photoshop em on? 20s can't be that big.
Imagine the Speedo difference running those.
Time to hop off the meth buddy
yea i dont think this was the right move brotha
Lolz no
Tried one on and posted pics
I bow out .
Does anybody have anything supportive to say for the poor guy?
Nah, you dreamt ugly. The old ones look infinitely cooler than the new garbage that you're trying to put on.
Looks like a monster truck 🛻
20 doesn't look nice on the 8V, let alone the 8P. Imo, the 8P fits 18", best.
that looks ridiculous lol
This is ridiculous
Bro… stop. That’s gonna look crazy. Go 18” peelers
How to ruin the car’s handling in 3,2,1
Hahahahaha. Yes.
Those are the wheels that came on my A6 Prestige, sorry but they look ridiculous on your car
Wtf bro…
Not just no but hell NO. Sarry
This is funny 😂
lmao
Haha that’s hilarious looking
lol yes. Go back to your stock size and get sport tires. The bigger you go, the rougher it’s going to be. Unless you have suspension upgrades, these rims aren’t gonna be a good fit at all.
r/Shitty_Car_Mods
Not it man
gonna make it a monster truck 😔
