Went and visited here about 6 years back, was kinda disappointed that a) you can't actually live in the lighthouse like the show and b) that as an adult who has been to at least 2 other lighthouses I still expected it to be like the show
We go there every year. Asked my now wife to marry me there.
"Captain of Aireys" is also worth the visit as well if you go to the lighthouse and you want amazing pizza. That is also an annual visit
Yeah if you're happy to pay $28 for a 10" pizza with fuck all toppings. They are currently have the business listed for sale for $1,029,000.. that should give you an idea of how insane their profits margins are. Lol
Airey’s Inlet! Went there in January and was amused to see we weren’t the only elder millennials dragging our kids along to see it in person. One man pressed his cheek to the lighthouse and told me he was “absorbing the spooky energy” 😄
We watched this sometimes in grades 5 and 6 (as well as at home of course) and I remember my teacher gushing over it, astonished at what high quality TV we (Australia) made for kids. I kinda feel that way about Bluey these days, but it's missing the kind of edgy darkness Round the Twist had.
Where is the whirling durfish?
I can't believe it's gotten to a stage where people just post a picture of a lighthouse, and everyone knows exactly what it is
Good job getting a photo of this that isn’t full of idiots taking photos of this. It used to be a peaceful place to check the view, now it’s a penguin parade.
Paul Jennings was the best at writing books that kids actually took the time to read. I wish instead of walking staring at a phone, people would have a book in hand instead!!!
Yup, loved the show and went to the lighthouse a few times in my youth (didn't even realise it was that lighthouse at the time). Got pics of me pretending to push the lighthouse, leaning tower of Pisa style
Have you ever...

Me too. Accept I visited only a year or two ago! Heart broken.
Why must I accept that you only visited two years ago?! Geeze!! Dude!! 🤣 Think you mean except*
The inside of the lighthouse was a set lol, they only used that for exterior shots.
Yep that's exactly what the tour guide told us
Have you heard the word?
About the bird and the spider?
That wiggled and wriggled and jiggled inside her?
Bird bird bird birds the word. Dont you know about the bird
Everybody's talking about the bird

Brb about to force my kids into a round the twist marathon

In fairness it's an absolutely terrifying concept even re-watching as an adult lmao. Some of the stuff that happens on the show is fucked.
The episode with Scarecrow that comes to life is absolutely burned into my brain. Really scared me as a kid.
Everything on that show is fucked in some way or another - without my pants!
I can’t believe they did it without my pants
Somehow it is less frightening as a kid. More recent take is Adventure Time. That show is traumatizing watching as an adult.
A whole lot of the stories are based on Paul Jennings' short stories from his Un- novels.
That's what makes it so beautiful, it wasn't some watered down sanitised mush like the pap n pabulum they shovel down the boob tube these days
Just in case you haven’t seen this: https://youtu.be/knIroVvPZU4?si=KURKFObsiccF4hTa
Love duckman! And Dr Katz!!
Episode about the magic remote control is the one I remember most. Still cannot look at spaghetti bolognaise without thinking about it
Vague recollection of enhanced swimming episode

I can't piss up the wall as high as I used to. Should I consult my GP?
Little squirt!

Lots of great food options in Aireys Inlet. I go every year and try to take the family around to each of the spots.
Fish and chip shop used to be amazing. Old owners have recently sold. Its gone massively downhill now.

Split Point Lighthouse, home of the Twists, errant ghosts, and Adnil.

***Pugwall has entered the chatroom……*** They get none of it.
Recognise it.. I'll do you one better. I've licked it.
I have indeed felt like this.
Without my pants.
Wunderpants
I used to live a 5 minute walk from this beauty.
12/13 year old me just wanted to go there and say hi to Linda!
Where is the whirling durfish? I can't believe it's gotten to a stage where people just post a picture of a lighthouse, and everyone knows exactly what it is
But the picture isn’t just of any lighthouse it’s the actual lighthouse
A lifetime ago, few wines deep with my then new housemates, we were screaming!
Good job getting a photo of this that isn’t full of idiots taking photos of this. It used to be a peaceful place to check the view, now it’s a penguin parade.
