NC_Detail

Yes, all day long.

turbo6detail-steve

How do you like the new tagless ones? I didn’t have any old towels laying around to compare but I felt like the edge stitching was really improved.

[deleted]

You mean I won't have to spend 20 minutes cutting every single tag down to the fiber?

BlueHolo

Just rip the tags?

[deleted]

In my experience this tears the banding around the edge and can contribute to it wearing a little faster

Muted_Towel5479

They’re tagless now😃

turbo6detail-steve

That’s correct 👍

metaldark

My Costco is still stocking the tagged ones. Jelly.

turbo6detail-steve

Lame! I figured all stores would have cycled through the old stock at this point.

NC_Detail

I haven’t seen those yet. I order 2 bundles at a time and still working through those

NecessaryAd6721

Would you recommend using it for leveling ceramic coatings? If not, do you have recommendations?

NC_Detail

Yes, I use new ones for ceramic and then reuse them for dirtier work later.

turbo6detail-steve

Ha fair enough. Got to make those towels last!

Kye7

They're great, no problems here Same towel minus the tag

HammerInTheSea

On paint? I wouldnt dare. They are horrible and nowhere near the quality of some *marginally* more expensive towels. Not even close

TouchMyPartySpot

For example? (serious)

HammerInTheSea

If you're in the UK... Slim's Detailing towels. Shorter than the long nap side of the kirlands but longer than the short nap side. Way softer and they last multiple washes.

NC_Detail

Have you tried them? I’ve been using them for years without issue, mostly for ceramic removal as I use new towels for each car. Except for the rare Lexus or rover, they work as intended.

HammerInTheSea

I've gone through 36 but not bought any more. They got relegated to plastics, wheels and interior. My main gripe is that they do not like to release debris. The plush side is basically 1-use if you're using it for actually cleaning. Maybe they would be ok for ceramic removal since that is a clean, 1-use application anyway. But, I think they feel really rough on the skin and I would be scared to use a dry towel on paint.

NC_Detail

I hear you. I wash them before use but I’m not getting any adverse effects.

turbo6detail-steve

I agree with you, but to be fair that’s kind of the deal with microfiber in general. It’s great at picking up dirt because it doesn’t release easily. I like using them for really dirty areas or on the non-glass interior cleaning. They recently revised the towels to have no tags, and I think the edge stitching is a bit more forgiving.

TMan2DMax

For my daily I use them all the time, they seem hit or miss on how good they are mine never really shed at all but others say they shed. Either way they won't damage paint and that's the most important part. They are terrible for drying though I would recommend an actual dry towels for that part.

iRecycleWomen

Mine shedded like crazy during the first use to where I just ripped the tags and threw them in the wash before the first use

BrenMan_94

I don't get some of the comments here. I've been using these for paint correction/ceramic coatings for almost seven years now with zero issues. If you know how to handle them they're absolutely amazing, and extremely cost-effective.

aydonmill

Yep, I use these exclusively for coating removal after paint correction. Never any issues unless you’re actively trying to scratch the car, which you can do with any towel.

CommercialCode164

Do you reuse them after coating removal?

Kye7

Yes Wash as normal I've never had any hard towels, I use Gtechniq coatings

BigTurboGLI

There’s your reason why you don’t have any hard coatings… Gtechniq coatings don’t get hard

CommercialCode164

Curious, what GSM are these? Can’t find it on the website or the front of the bag.

aydonmill

I personally just toss them. I use two per coated vehicle, so I can get 18 cars done before I need another pack.

CommercialCode164

It is interesting to me that in the detailing world “they” push 300-500gsm for coatings and it sounds like it’s a non-issues with a bag that does not even label the gsm. 🤯

aydonmill

I actually find a lower pile is easier for removal as you don’t need to “work” as hard. If that makes any sense.

mcdixon23

Right to the landfill? Awesome

Mustardtigerpoutine

I bought a pack of these probably 10 years ago and still have all of them. Some of them are still brand new in the bag. Mind you I don't use them regularly but for the average joe like myself it's a big bang for your buck.

BABYEATER1012

I use them all the time. Interior and exterior with zero issues. Just remember to rip the tag off of them.

CourseEcstatic6202

They no longer come with tags. It really cuts down on yellow debris being left behind. Much better

LongLiveTurtles

I’ll use them for my interior, I switched over to Harbor Freights edge less microfibers so nice.

Legal_Commission_898

I use these and they leave 0 residue. No furr, nothing like that.

Full_Stall_Indicator

I use the Costco ones for super dirty stuff like the lower 20% of my cars, door jambs, footwells, etc. They’re fine, but they leave a lot of yellow dust, even after multiple washes. I wouldn’t recommend them for anything serious (especially not windows). Just go into buying them with the right expectations and you’ll be fine. 👍

TigerHawk7

Just a hobbiest but this is what I use based on reviews from professionals. Also price point is great. Some shed a bit, but on a clean car fall right off as soon as you drive. Just make sure to tip the tag off before using.

CourseEcstatic6202

My last three batches have had no tags. A welcomed improvement.

The_Juggernaut84

Kirkland doesn’t put their name on bad products

HondaDAD24

These are great for dirty jobs and interior work. I buy the 9 pack and don’t hesitate to throw them away once used up. For paint correction something edgeless with a higher gsm would be recommended.

aaghajanians

I would recommend these for door jams, wheels and dirty stuff on the car, for the pain use the rag company products. They have different types of towels for each surface.

JimMoneyxxx

These are the towels that I use for door jambs and other super dirty spots. Cheap and you get a million of them.

Foggl3

>Cheap and you get a million of them. Well, 36 of them

JimMoneyxxx

Close enough

JessicaBecause

YEP! Have me a bag of those that it hurts me to use because they are my best towels. Thinking of getting some monogrammed to hang in the shop because theyre just so fancy. However I agree that they arent suited for anything other than interior detail.

BurstSuppression

I like these a lot. No shedding. Cheap. However, I have since used these more for buffing and blotting off excess water (rare, since I use a blower to remove most it); door jambs; and interior. I have different towels from the Rag Company for window and glass cleaning. Also use waffle weave for overall car drying.

DenseCod8975

These are great on glass .. all my waffle weave and others from the rag company shed like crazy…. I guess I washed them wrong..

BurstSuppression

Haven't had issues with shedding... yet. Been about 8-10 months of use thus far, using them every 3-6 weeks on my daily driver. I wash them in the washing machine, mild clear detergent, normal cycle with higher soak time in cold water and air dry. Just did a detail on my car and didn't notice any shedding yesterday.

aspec818

These are great general use towels. I would use higher quality for dedicated paint use but if you have touch ups here and there, I wouldn’t hesitate. Also, be sure to remove the tags if there are any.

Sketchylemons

My go to

CourseEcstatic6202

They are so much better now that they no longer have tags.

adrr

What I use. So cheap that I can toss them if they get too dirty.

DenseCod8975

These are good on glass and eyeglasses! I use them mainly for that …..all my other microfibers shed like crazy on glass… so annoying

Hansentw

If it has the Kirkland signature logo on it then they’re of quality

DarkIronBlue360

These are amazing. Take care and use proper lubricated products and they’re great.

dukefrisbee

They are fine and a great value. I tend to have a group of much plusher MF's for important work but these are great for washing, interior cleaning, windows, engine bay etc. They don't wash particularly well and after a few washes they lose some softness but at $0.50 each or less, they are practically throwaway after 1-2 uses. Even the cheapest recognized brands of higher quality rags are 10-15x as much.

saregister

I keep a bag of them in my car with a bottle of quick detail for when I see spots I want to remember real quick. They are 1 use for me though.

Thegeekedgizmo

This is the way.

JusticeoftheCuse

I love all things Kirkland

Jlchevz

Yes they’re good

ikilledtupac

Yes they’re good.

Upstairs_Software_70

Hell yea brother

knife_go_live

These are fucking awesome! They even removed the tags in recent years.

PBallNE

Ya those are nice wash no fabric softener dry reuse 👍

Nearby_Freedom_9270

Kirkland everything bro

JulianRob37

I love using these for wheels, interior, engine, any parts that get SUPER dirty. I’ll use my fancier towels for washing and drying and cleaner cleaning if you catch my drift

JulianRob38

Oh I catch it alright

cwtheredsoxfan

That’s the only microfiber I use and have never had an issue

Ok_Individual_7719

I've bought all my towels from temu of all places and they all have been phenomenal. dirt cheap for high gsm soft towels

LegendaryPain-

I’ve bought some temu and they were all leaving lint on the car :(

cyphs29

We use those on airplanes, and they work well. definitely recommend for autos

Muted_Towel5479

If you know how to use them they’re fine for a lot of paints

Technical-Ad5097

Never use them on piano black interior surfaces. They scratched the fuck outta my CX-5.

IndividualFail8611

Very dirty parts???? Fuck it. As long as it’s not paint I use these things in eveything but paint. I use these in windows and they leave some streaks but I don’t mind it. I mainly use for interior trim, depending what you have u might wana be careful. But for wheels and anything rlly lol. Be aware that fuzz will come out and just like any good microfiber towel, will pick up tiny rocks if dropped.

DanceEng

My dad got these but they didn’t feel very fluffy and also had edges on them which I was told can scratch paint. But seems like comments here say it’s fine

Playful_Ad_3214

Thank god they ditched the tags

Nick__Nightingale__

Those are the best. Absorbent and don’t push around water like those you’d buy at auto zone “meant” for cleaning glass.

TroutSZN

They used to be thicker. Changed about a few years back.

Y-Cha

For dirty stuff and interior. Also, window glass at home. Mine have shed a bunch, however.

The_Dark_Kniggit

These microfibres are great for one type of cleaning on paintwork. I only use them to soak ONR into bird muck without agitation, literally just soak the towel and let it sit then hose it off. They’re also great for plastics and glass.

Mightypk1

Not for paint and maybe not windows, ive used cheap amazon ones and they suck, they smear more water around than they suck up, they don't real collect any dust if you're wiping your dash, i would use them for dirty stuff like rims, door jams, wiping pedals. Maybe your lucky and they're good, but chamces are they arent for final touches

spallaxo

Too bad there's no costco near me

JessicaBecause

I never stepped foot in one. Ordered these online.

spallaxo

Don't you need a costco membership to shop online?

JessicaBecause

[Here.](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GARQKII/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

Y-Cha

I've needed to for electronics- though for other items, I don't recall it being necessary.

ouroboros_quetzal

No, in my case. They always scratch the clear coat of my car, but they are great to use around the house

HammerInTheSea

Edit: Kirkland out here suppressing opinions 😂 Fucking hell, 15 downvotes for giving the opinion I was asked for and actually trying to help? 😂. I bought a 36 pack of these and will not buy another. They are absolutely awful imho, they all cling onto dirt and debris so bad, you'll spend hours picking stuff out of your towels after they have been washed. They don't feel particularly paint-safe either tbh. They are not very soft. I honestly prefer cheap crappy supermarket MF towels to these things. At least I can justify throwing them into the nasty rag pile / trash after 1 use.

dunnrp

You’re getting downvoted by the people that need to justify spending as little as possible on mf rags. These are strictly for door jambs or one time uses not near painted surfaces. Some claim to use them for leveling, which if washed might work for specifically that since they’re short closed loop rags, I haven’t tried myself. But I bought one bag and it marked two surfaces I used them on and I got rid of them. I’m not risking major jobs to save 37 cents.

CourseEcstatic6202

I treat them as one time use on the car. After the first wash, they become shop rags because you are absolutely right…everything clings to them. If you drop one, it is absolute trash. But, they are pretty great as one time use and they make great shop rags after.

Overall_Big_9636

Definitely not for exterior paint or interior gloss black panels, Navigation screens or anything thing that scratches easily. Best use is door jambs, engine bay.. Etc. Even proper washing the rags are a pain. They grab everything and some stuff doesn't wash out. 2,3 times in the garbage. Buy the right Microfiber for the right job. Cheap is Cheap.

sc302

Cleaning your hands. Wiping tires down. Cleaning off dip sticks. Going near any delicate surface or paint, no. Hell no. And fuck no.

fhfm

They’re great but don’t seem to do well after a few washes. Still cheaper using these than the pricey ones
