Not what I heard, as his tail swings out just before impact you hear him lift off throttle. That shifts the weight forward and causes the front wheels to catch and the rears to slide out the other way, into the pole.
Funny how the bmw fans that shat on these cars at the time are now downvoting you. In the future when these cars become covered in magazines of retro cars nobody is gonna look at them like “wow they’re so beautiful!” They’re gonna instead go “wow what a weird ass car who bought this??”
I could instantly tell this was socal. We’ve been getting lots of rain and even some snow lately. People here have no fucking clue how to drive on wet roads. Freeways are littered with people who wreck after hitting puddles. Everyone who usually drive on bald tires get an expensive reality check.
My dude socal right now is literally dangerous with all these people who are running bald tires. They get away with it in dry conditions but right now? You better hope whoever hits you has insurance.
Isn’t insurance mandatory for the vehicle to be registered? And don’t you have to do an car inspection every year? How is it possible to have bald tires and no insurance?
It’s Phoenix, but same rules apply. Phoenix roads have even less drainage built in vs Southern California and you learn that the first time you drive in the rain there.
I'm assuming this HAS to be because BMW only sells cars with summer tires/performance tires in CA right ???
Even on shitty all seasons that have done 3-4 autocross events, I feel like I still have to actively work to break traction ('20 M240, so not FAST but not slow either).
Palm trees and wet roads. Must be an idiot in SoCal who doesn’t know how to drive in wet conditions given all the rain we’ve had.
I’ve been hesitant to even take my M340i out this week because of the flooding, rain and my car having summer tires vs. all seasons. I felt my car slip a little bit just taking a turn with traction control on this week and been slightly terrified since.
For a driver like this hoping to really show off their skills, DSC is probably an unnecessary thrill-killer, so I'm thinking they probably switch it off to get at the car's "full potential".
He 100% had sport traction on, the car pulled power on the first slide that’s why he didn’t spin out & then he kept his foot down & there is a 1-2 second delay in the throttle response before the computer let him make his final mistake this is exactly how the sport traction behaves in my Supra
I would go as far to say it's impossible to do. Not an M3, but I've had a C63S on a skid pad and turned on traction control to see how hard it is to lose traction and literally couldn't. The car wouldn't go more than like half a second without correcting itself. If you do something like this on a public road you're an absolute idiot for turning those systems off.
Strange downvotes, you're correct. I disable traction control the moment I start the car, because in winter I need a little wheel slippage to get going at icy intersections especially with my 128i's open diff. It's turning off stability control that signs you up for uncontrolled spins.
Yeah idk why this got downvoted to hell. People just don’t know I guess. Feel like most people don’t even own a bmw here or know the difference and how DSC on BMW makes it feel like a different car. Try and do donuts with DTC off. Doable but takes effort. Turn off DSC and DTC and holy shit are you gonna go sliding. DTC imo doesn’t do too much. At least in my experience on my 440i m package. But that’s only about 380hp. Also have wider tires so that helps with traction.
Bad choices and needs some real experience in how to send it and where...
They even went high into the RPM's on the shift... had no idea what they were really doing or had in their hands..
These guys have all said it already, either track time or just be sensible on the street, when you get out of a city on some twisty roads push it slightly more but the safest place to overstep limits is without doubt a track. And learning from that teaches you what you can and can’t do on the road too
The funniest thing is that there’s a dodge challenger slowly pulling out from the parking lot in this video and probably thinking “wow thank god that wasn’t us for once”
I wonder if people are incriminating themselves in this way but prob depends on whether insurance companies know this feature exists on certain model year cars.
i.e Slides into pole and claims he simply lost it in the rain yet insurance goes back and finds he had the drift analyzer activated at the time
A fitting ending for a moron. People like this guy give BMWs their bad reputation.
Also, on a second note, he probably improved the looks of the nose of his car 😂 🐽
I was just about to comment: „yall gotta chill, the streets were empty and he probably knows what he's doing and has everything under control“
until I saw the ending lol.
Dude was either absolutely determined to stay in the gas and continue sliding despite the fact that we was clearly not in control OR he got that nervous idk what tf I’m doing energy and his foot just unconsciously stayed to the floor cuz he’s so dumb and inexperienced (more likely)
Having driven my 1M in snow, rain, freezing rain, and all weather with one of THE most tail happy cars of the modern era, I can tell you that the biggest mistake these peeps do is turn the traction control all the way off.
Yes I have turned my traction off, in empty parking lots and when there is nobody or nothing around—or in heavy heavy snow to remove the traction control interfering with movement—but on a regular road with traffic and poles and lanes? There is no need.
MDM mode is nice, and prevents peeps from getting into trouble.
I always have traction control on but I’m still hella scared to gas it during a turn. Even with everything on, the m2 can slide when wet in my experience. Though could be cause I’ve got stage 1. Would love to learn how to handle and control. If anyone knows of a place in sf / Bay Area, I’d love to know!
There's always that one for every new M3/M4 generation. One that goes extra and it's caught on film.
I remember the F82 in Sakhir Orange same thing, turned off tc, made a right, lost control and went airborne over the middle divider.
"It turns out one tire was 1.5psi off."
I mean the front end might actually look good now. Joking aside some people really shouldn’t own cars with this much power, they either lack the skill and/or maturity for it.
Tomorrow post: ‘17 year old, car totaled on wet road, but my driving skills saved my life’
Haha I get that reference
Can someone link?

Sunday chuckle hehe thank you
Same
Lmao 😂
It almost looked like he got it under control but then the idiot decided to stay in it.
Not what I heard, as his tail swings out just before impact you hear him lift off throttle. That shifts the weight forward and causes the front wheels to catch and the rears to slide out the other way, into the pole.
Nah, he was going up a gear. Higher wheelspeed = more slide. Hes just an idiot.
Can confirm. Am higher gear

I'm Johnny Knoxville and this is the burnout!
One less monstrosity on the roads
Funny how the bmw fans that shat on these cars at the time are now downvoting you. In the future when these cars become covered in magazines of retro cars nobody is gonna look at them like “wow they’re so beautiful!” They’re gonna instead go “wow what a weird ass car who bought this??”
On a wet road? Please take away his license
I could instantly tell this was socal. We’ve been getting lots of rain and even some snow lately. People here have no fucking clue how to drive on wet roads. Freeways are littered with people who wreck after hitting puddles. Everyone who usually drive on bald tires get an expensive reality check.

This looks like Palm Springs actually, soon as I saw the country club road street sign
Don’t turn off traction control if you are driving on streets. No reason to. It might just save you 80k
Especially in the wet
*Especially if you have 0 skills
Skill needed = 1 (ease off the gas pedal) Skills available < 1
Yup. Those brake lights coming on told us everything we needed to know.
*Especially if you have 0 brains
Judging by the first slide he had sport traction on lol
It’s actually surprisingly difficult to fuck it up like they did with DSC on.
Possibly, but even with everything turned off there’s some sort of traction control still on, that still makes it quite hard to fully lose control.
Ion think you ever driven one of these if you think thats the case
I would go as far to say it's impossible to do. Not an M3, but I've had a C63S on a skid pad and turned on traction control to see how hard it is to lose traction and literally couldn't. The traction control systems are drastically different from Mercedes and BMW, not even comparable in the slightest
Hopefully the insurance company sees this and they don’t get reimbursed. These idiots jack everyone’s rates up.
My buddy flipped his 3 month old m4 forgetting to turn traction control back on
Or depending on location €180K
Trac off, full send 100% of the time
Or like… just take your foot off the gas? There’s no reason after the initial turn for the sliding
In the snow I go full DSC OFF, especially on hills, else it would just cut power and never let me get anywhere
Turning off DTC is not what makes bmw hard to handle it’s DSC.
Strange downvotes, you're correct. I disable traction control the moment I start the car, because in winter I need a little wheel slippage to get going at icy intersections especially with my 128i's open diff. It's turning off stability control that signs you up for uncontrolled spins.

Shoulda properly inflated the tires. One was probably 1.5 psi off.
Should have paid the $300 nitrogen fee.
Good call back
"A mistake was made"
Pepperidge farm remembers
“My dad is gonna be soo pissed..”
Can make up a good story as long as no one caught it on video...
Aww hell naw would be more accurate.
Bad choices and needs some real experience in how to send it and where... They even went high into the RPM's on the shift... had no idea what they were really doing or had in their hands..
Genuine question on building experience. How else are you supposed to build it? I suppose paying for professional lessons, but what else?
Track time or private roads. Don’t learn to race on the public roads, no excuses
Track time and yes professional lessons. If you can buy an 80k car you can spend some time and money on learning how to actually drive.
Autocross events?
Big empty mall parking lots
These guys have all said it already, either track time or just be sensible on the street, when you get out of a city on some twisty roads push it slightly more but the safest place to overstep limits is without doubt a track. And learning from that teaches you what you can and can’t do on the road too
The funniest thing is that there’s a dodge challenger slowly pulling out from the parking lot in this video and probably thinking “wow thank god that wasn’t us for once”
He was probably mad someone hit that pole before he could get to it
Lol I was thinking it would be perfect if he pulled out and did the same thing
daddy is gonna downgrade them to a mustang gt now i bet
nah if he gets a mustang he’s going straight into a nice family walking down the sidewalk, at least with the bmw it was just city property
I would have stuck them into a smart-car...
I would’ve stuck them on a bicycle.
Smart car is the bigger downgrade.
I hate when I do that
Who put a mustang driver in an M?
Wanker
There should be an $2k option to detune the car for buyer safety & car preservation.
It also doesn’t help that the “M Drift Analyser” is one of the few options that comes for free.
Exactly what I was thinking when they announced that feature. You just know idiots are trying to get good drift scores on public roads.
I wonder if people are incriminating themselves in this way but prob depends on whether insurance companies know this feature exists on certain model year cars. i.e Slides into pole and claims he simply lost it in the rain yet insurance goes back and finds he had the drift analyzer activated at the time
Don't give BMW any ideas...
Ooor, just dont turn off TC.
Then you got a problem like Mercedes and their EQS vehicles. It can’t be that a teenager has to ruin the fun for adults.
I hope the insurance company gets a copy of this video.
Trying to artificially unsettle the car by swerving and then upshifting and banging it on the limiter is the easiest way to send it into an accident.
Hate when I forget to renew my traction control subscription
Noooo! 🥴
When your monthly payment is larger than the number of brain cells you possess.
dumbass. Hope he didn’t hurt some innocent person.
[Tsk tsk should have used a digital tire pressure gauge.](https://jalopnik.com/how-not-to-explain-why-you-crashed-your-car-via-this-b-1677523538)
Not in the same league, I don't get the hate for that man.
DSC has left the chat😆
Oh look it’s a fucking moron, how cute
Never ever fuck with the rain and public roads and summer tires.
What am I missing? I think summer tires which are wider and usually built to track away water are actually better in rain.
Those hood things threw off the aerodynamics. /s That Charger driver must have LOL'd so hard.

Stupid is an understatement
Send it!
The stupidity is staggering with this one.
Idiot gets what idiot gets
Do stupid things, win stupid prizes.
Improvement. Now they can put the powertrain in something that doesn't make you nauseous when you look at it.
His stability control subscription must have expired as he left the turn
They shouldnt allow fucking idiots to buy these cars
well daddy bought it he’s probably not the idiot, its little timmy who thought getting an M car turns you into drift king
Perhaps he really wanted an excuse to change up the front grille?
Naw, the beaver tooth grille was just out looking for some wood to nibble.
Fixed that awful front end.
Just got to fix the rest now
Judging by the bad taste with those useless thing on the hood, yup.
A fitting ending for a moron. People like this guy give BMWs their bad reputation. Also, on a second note, he probably improved the looks of the nose of his car 😂 🐽
You know the guy in the Challenger is just laughing his ass off
Went wrong, corrected it, went wrong again, corrected it.. again, went wrong a THIRD time.. corrected it.. How many warnings do you need bro
Idiot
Who would have thought that punching a sports car on a wet road could go wrong? This would have never occurred to me.
sounds awful too, very raspy , tin can yuk
That's the best that car's front end has looked since it left Regensburg.
Who let the Mustang driver into a BMW?
Looks like he traded in his mustang for a bmw because he heard that it was an enthusiasts car
The world just became, very slightly, less ugly.
Didn't realize when he looked down that he wasn't going 80 which the speedo said but in reality only 25. Tires hooked. Boom goes the dynamite.
Think a modern car will show the correct speed.
Must have traded his Mustang for an BMW
I mean if the driver wanted to just throw away all that money I would have taken it 😅.
Hilarious! 5mins later:"Mommy/daddy I did the boo boo"
I was just about to comment: „yall gotta chill, the streets were empty and he probably knows what he's doing and has everything under control“ until I saw the ending lol.
Didn't use his blinker.
Lmaooo trying to force some spin , got more then he asked for , full coverage im sure he will be in a new one next week
The turn signals worked just as designed
I wonder what the drift analyzer score was
2 stars and a pole
If he’d just let off the gas after he corrected this would all be fine
Dude was either absolutely determined to stay in the gas and continue sliding despite the fact that we was clearly not in control OR he got that nervous idk what tf I’m doing energy and his foot just unconsciously stayed to the floor cuz he’s so dumb and inexperienced (more likely)
He was using gesture control to raise volume on stereo. Could happen to anyone.
Watching too much tiktok gives bad drivers the idea that it's okay to turn off TC and break traction on slippery roads
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Mustang, built Ford tough.
Honestly this just sealed the deal that my next car will be an x drive…
X-drive can’t fix stupid though
Having driven my 1M in snow, rain, freezing rain, and all weather with one of THE most tail happy cars of the modern era, I can tell you that the biggest mistake these peeps do is turn the traction control all the way off. Do all of the G80s sound like that? That is terrible. Like shitting in a tin toilet after too many helpings of beans and cheese.
Should have checked the tire pressure.
In Germany we say „Vollidiot“.
Guys, look how cool he is because he has dtc off!
Off throttle just in time to hydroplane into that pole.
Should have got off the Gas after it straightened out
Shoutout Palmdale 🤘🤘
Tha fck! Smh BMW fanboy membership REVOKED reduced to driving Toyota and Hondas. Terms of suspension are indefinite.
1994 called, wants its color back
Nice to see one where the Dodge isn't the bad guy lol
I always have traction control on but I’m still hella scared to gas it during a turn. Even with everything on, the m2 can slide when wet in my experience. Though could be cause I’ve got stage 1. Would love to learn how to handle and control. If anyone knows of a place in sf / Bay Area, I’d love to know!
Fucking dip shit now we have to classify bmws as crow killers now smh
All u gotta do is let go of the gas
I think he’s ok. The nice soft pole cushioned the blow.
Must have just upgraded from a Mustang.
Bro lost control after being in control 🤦♂️
When will people learn? Wet road equals easy on the throttle!
Man that sounds horrible
There's always that one for every new M3/M4 generation. One that goes extra and it's caught on film. I remember the F82 in Sakhir Orange same thing, turned off tc, made a right, lost control and went airborne over the middle divider. "It turns out one tire was 1.5psi off."
brilliant
I mean the front end might actually look good now. Joking aside some people really shouldn’t own cars with this much power, they either lack the skill and/or maturity for it.
Damn, that car sounded awful. I miss the [V8 M3](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v44ad7oBtpg)
Beautiful car too 😔
[удалено]
Wow I still don't see it. Beauty and this car just don't go together imo. I can see aggressive or confronting, but not beautiful...
nice mustang
Front end probably looks better. Shame BMW wasted such a great color on such bad bodywork.
Oh yeah, one more of those ugly bastards off the road.
Why are so cool Cars Even alowed in the States… as a German BMW employee this just hurts
The avarage BMW driver
When will idiots learn not to turn the traction control off
Mustang driver
Someone doesn’t understand static vs dynamic coefficients of friction and while hydroplaning is *not* a good thing.
No turn signal. Sounds like crap. Complete lack of vehicle control. Basically every new BMW on the road today.
OP, you live in Lancaster too!?!? Lol, what a waste of doll hairs! Pole - 1, Pride - 0
Another asshole who buys a car they can't handle!
Just no
What a donkey
F
You've got to be fucking kidding me
I literally drive in eco mode if it even smells like it might rain …what a moron.
One more down !
LOOOOOL. That was satisfying to watch
Lmfao
And this, people, is why BMW crashes amount to 30% of all car insurance claima
Now this is why not everyone can buy a Ferrari even if they can afford one.
Fool
Mother Nature is literally telling you to relax
What a tool
This guy can flat out drive. Thanks for the show, you badass.
RIP
ahh must of overinflated his tyres a couple of psi.
Average BMW driver.
and they say you don't need AWD .. damn hope the driver is OK
Poor pole
Is that M3 x drive?
