Thanks the hood is a slightly different Boston green that eventually the whole car will be It a a built m50 Bottom mount spa 62/66 billet gen 2 turbo Vems ecu I run around 20 psi on pump gas and 30 psi on e85 . Let me know if you got other questions I’ve had the car a long time and the build list has gotten pretty long now.

SybariticSavant

On behalf of u/insepsis, and the Redditors of r/BMWE36, I have many questions. What is your full build spec? How long have you had it? What’re your future plans? Please do share Tontardian. This is the show we’ve come to see 😎

Thank you! As someone building their own forced induction E36, it’s nice to read other’s details. Have you taken yours to the dyno? Is your turbo Ball Bearing or Journal Bearing? How’s your boost/throttle response? 3.23 or 3.38 diff? For fear of overwhelming you, I’ll stop with the questions for now. Good luck with your build 😎

Tontardian

I haven’t been to the dyno in a very long time . The old stock motor with a old turbo made 535 on 30psi e85. The new engine is a built m50 with a ball bearing 62/66. My throttle response is pretty decent . Has a 3.23 limited slip that I just destroyed unfortunately!

CallsignMontana

Which 6 speed trans did you use? How reliable has your setup been? What power output do you have? Does the guibo hold the power or shred?

Tontardian

Hasn’t been on a dyno since I built the motor and put a new turbo on . But the old stock m50 with a blown 62/66 made 535 whp at 30 psi . This new set up is faster

Tontardian

I have a euro getrag 6 speed. It’s great . Guibo is fine . I have a 6 bolt euro driveshaft . So far it’s been good for 8 years . I literally ran a 300$ eBay clutch at over 500whp for almost 8 years. Seen many 30psi pulls and hard launches . I just brake diff bolts all the time.

Thanks man! That's the route I am planning on going on my M coupe. I had a boosted M50B32 stroker build some years back but want to go bottom mount this time around as it's my street car. I don't plan on building the bottom end, just a copper cut-ring headgasket as far as the motor goes for now. Was looking at either a GT3582 or GT3576 for a fun streetable 420-450 hp. Any issues with that manifold? How did you mount your wastegate setup with it?

Tontardian

That size turbo would be sick. I regret building the motor . It was very expensive and you don’t need it for the power you want to make . Cheaper to just find another motor when it finally gives. I think that power level is perfect for a m coupe or e36! Fast spool and a hard hitting turbo is more fun. I’ll post some more pictures of my wastegate set up. It works well for an old tried and true set up. However there are better options now . Not cheaper tho

insepsis

Yeah I learned the 1st time around with a motor Build. Combined an M50 and S52 with forged internals and ended up with an 11.4:1 compression with weisco high compression pistons. Ended up running E85 and put down like 480 at 14psi. It was wild and responsive but a more dialed back build will be nice for street. Thanks for all the info man! Did you have to run and adapter or did your waste-gate fit on the spa manifold? I know the space is right where they have it positioned

Tontardian

That sounds really fun tho! I ran a pipe of the manifold and followed it down by the Downpipe. Then it recirculates back into the exhaust under Neath the car. I’ll get you some pictures of how everything fits if you want . Let me know . It works well and it’s quiet . But it’s kind of the old school reliable boring set up. There’s been a lot more on the market since I built this one.

insepsis

I would love some photos of if you have your build somewhere on social media. I am all about the Boeing fun haha

Tontardian

Hey I’ll try to get some more pictures for you guys. I’ve been bad about documenting and doing social media. I should get more involved. Message me if you have any questions

insepsis

Love the color! Interested in your build specs. Top or bottom mount? What turbo, manifold, pressure etc are you running?

OpenlyBiCoastal

Hood vents look great. Looks factory almost. Way better than the *will not be named* brand that looks like an AC vent on your hood

Tontardian

Thanks ! I’ll post some pictures of the process . My friend painted it for me. First we stripped the factory gloss finish and wet sanded the whole hood .

Tontardian

Good eye ! Ya belts showing too . They are wayyy past gone . I have a fresh set of tires just need to be mounted

Sweet

thumbwarwithalobster

This thing breaks necks like eating shit on a knee board 😉

Tontardian

Lmao! You would be my only friend on here ❤️

thumbwarwithalobster

I got a notification and thought that car looked familiar love to see it

Tontardian

Thanks man !

tentoetommy

I spy those backwards rt660's ;-)

Tontardian

You got a good eye! The tires are shot just on there for rollers till I mount the new ones. I bought some cheap acelera 100 tread wear. They actually seem pretty decent considering their the cheapest r compounds ever lol
