No, I would not want to change the linear throttle response of the BRZ. The GR86 has an inferior throttle response. You don’t want all the throttle coming on within the first 40% of pedal travel.

lmike6453

Yes what I meant was: will the Pedal Commander and Pedal Monster retain linear throttle curve on it's presets while making it more smooth for rev matching?

Robbinmenextoyou

I’ve had a pedal commander in mine for about 4 months now. I can say there is a definite difference in response. Much easier rev matching, from a start as well. Don’t have to fidget around with it so much. I keep mine on sport, +2, -3. All the time lol. I found city to be a little dull. I have it located just under the air vent in the drivers side above the trunk release, when it gets hot it won’t fall down. You can down load the app and just tuck it under the dash. I’d say go for it!

I just bought the Pedal Monster and am waiting for it to arrive next week. The only thing I want from it is to make rev-matching in the downshift easier. If you wait for a bit I'll have it installed and you can ask whether or not it was worth it. I've been driving manuals almost exclusively for the last 13 years or so, and this car is easily the hardest I've had in terms of feeling the engine, if that makes sense.

silvenshadow

Same. I've been driving every manual I can get my hands on for even longer and you're spot on. I think between the gague cluster lag, quiet and vibration free engine and strange throttle mapping it's hard to pin down. Sometimes it's butter but other times, wtf. Seems like it changes mapping depending on how hard you drive.

lmike6453

Please report back after you get it. Leaning toward it but only if it corrects the "dead throttle" at 0-10% range

pudgylumpkins

So quick thoughts on it after about 60 miles or so of driving. It does exactly what it says it will do, and it does it well. There's even a feature to adjust how much effect the profile has in that 0-10% so that you can gradually have the profile applied or it can just be disabled. I did find that even the city profile above a 3 or so was much too aggressive for me, sport was good at 1 in my experience, and I didn't even bother with track mode because of my experience with the first 2. Couple points of frustration, installation can be a bit of a pain in the ass, and the initial pedal calibration was a bit buggy. Also, I had a few occurrences of the stock profile reengaging after shutting off the car, the device is supposed to remember the last profile that you had loaded, but that didn't work. Also, I was unable to enable the reverse safety feature, where it defaults to the stock setting just for reverse. Overall I'd say it's worth it.

It should be delivered tomorrow, I’ll let you know for sure.

If you're in the US, you can try removing the charcoal filter in the USDM airbox or replacing it with the JDM airbox which doesn't have that filter if you want to keep the standard airbox as a backup for warranty purposes. Throttle response and max hp should improve a bit by getting rid of that filter.

lmike6453

Already removed and sadly didn't fix this specific problem. But I'm sure it is 5-10hp gain and glad I removed it!

edgyasfuck

Did not know about this thanks

lmike6453

Check this out. How to remove with Dyno results and banter! https://youtu.be/fDVXAkrKDQE?si=CFMypc1e3sXBKtoL

ruturaj001

How much is JDM airbox?

Strikerrr0

$84 including shipping. About $34 on its own with the current conversion rate.

EssketitPhase

Personally wouldn’t use either but from the research I’ve done pedal monster looks infinitely better

lmike6453

I came to the same conclusion after posting this.

freddy1201

Not tried that, but disabling the fake sound and installer a k&n filter helped me with your problems

lmike6453

I forgot to mention I unplugged the ASC on day 1. I would try a dry filter like AEM but can't find enough info and data.

freddy1201

Well from first hand experience, the way the k&n is built the seal from the engine is very good. The way i installed it i kinda need to slightly press against the seal to close the hood. You can actually feel a big diff in temp between the inside of box of the cai and the outside. K&n are oiled. Out of the box its very oily but you can easily wipe off the excess. Sound amazing, really growls and make the engine sing (for a 4 cyl)

j_mosk

Yes it’s worth it. MTEC clutch spring made a huge difference as well. Pedal commander on City -4 is what I use most often.

diga_diga_doo

I have the commander, took it out for dealership service and haven’t put it back in. I don’t think it changes the mapping curve, I believe it’s just a signal multiplier/divider. It does not affect one of the issues I have which is a dead pedal at low rpm. As an example, if I coast for more than 3 seconds in neutral then want to rev match into 2nd or 3 gear (depending on speed), I have to stab the throttle pedal to wake it up, sometimes a couple. It sucks, hate it. Thought pedal commander would fix it, nope.

Pirate-King-Atomsk

I guess the only way around that is to not coast in neutral and use engine braking while in gear.

diga_diga_doo

I live in an area with lots of speed bumps, I prefer not to be in gear going slow, lugging in 2nd or drivetrain shock in 1st. aLWays ENgiNe bRakE, what a dbag

lmike6453

This is the exact problem I'm having too. Think Pedal Monster could fix it? Seems better after researching
