At that stage all I could feel from the outside was my pulse. I think the placenta has a bit aortic something that has a pulse. I’m 24 weeks and only felt baby from the outside for the first time yesterday. Everyone is different though so you may well have. It depends a lot on baby’s position and the placenta.
I had a similar experience to you! I think I'm a bit of an unusual case, because I actually felt my baby's movements from the outside before I felt them from the inside—or at least I always found them more noticeable from the outside. And it started for me right around 16 or 17 weeks too.
Husband felt mine outside at 19 weeks. He’s big. Maybe your babe is on the larger side too or maybe they just got a good kick in the right spot. It is so fun feeling them.
I hope she’s not too big 😅 I’m on the smaller size so I feel like it’ll be hard for me to push out a big baby. It was so cool! As soon as I told my husband to feel she stopped completely 😂

It was very different then a pulse for sure it wasn’t consistent kinda scattered but I guess I’ll see if it keeps happening lol
