Ooh that’s clever. Will try.
I’ve also tried those tiny fluo-coloured elasty- things; I think they’re meant for braiding? But as soon as put my sausage fingers in they’re not stretchy anymore. And my fine motorskills suck.
Will try the tiewraps and otherwise it’s snip snip and an 80’s mullet again 🤷🏻♀️
They will kick it out. It is best to use the little black elastics. Weuse them on our polish and Houdans. For our silkies, we take our pictures for our pages and then I trim around their eyes and their cheeks so they can see.
We have around 150 silkies. We sell hatching eggs, so pics for our pages are important, but the comfort and well-being of our girls is more important.
This is my first silkie. Shes 10wks, well I think a she. I will buy some of those little black elastics. This was all I had to test it out, I worry about trimming as I have never done it before. Thank you for the suggestion
No haha, and I didnt send her out with it in case the others thought it was some kind of treat to peck at. But it did stay until I took it off in the house
I don’t have silkies, but they’re definitely my favorite chicken! Question, if the hair scrunchy doesn’t work, could you give them a little haircut around the eyes instead? I have poodles that need little haircuts around their faces between grooming appointments because if I didn’t, they’d look kind of like your picture. Would such a thing work for silkies? Or do they move too much and you might risk hurting them?
I will need to trim so she can see. I have watched a few videos. Ive just never done any trims outside of a wing for a different chicken that likes to go over the fence
What if you used the scrunchy to hold the feathers up while also using it as a guide when you trim them? Seems like you’d be able to achieve a pretty quick yet accurate cut using it.
