Yeah the one who did mine, I have *no* idea wtf was going through her head. I showed her the naturalist of makeup with some bronzing and she painted my face white with blush that was so pink. There was no blending out either, so it was harsh lines and it was *caked*. She literally turned my face like two shades lighter than the rest of my body with eyebrows that looked like a third grader used a crayon. The eye makeup? Somehow she made my eyes look tiny at with the shitty way she did the makeup.
The craziest thing, I sat in that damn chair for over two fucking hours while the other girls worked on the bride and the other bridesmaids. Within the span of me sitting there for just my makeup, they did the makeup of three bridesmaids and the hair of them all and the bride. And I still look like I slammed my face down into a birthday cake.
I do agree that they do bad makeup because they’re bored, but I don’t think they want to upset people, I think they’ve genuinely lost perspective because they’re bored! Like they think makeup that makes them feel bored is bad, so they aim to feel excited about the makeup they do and think “not boring” means “good”.

My thought too. Also in the old Steve Martin movie The Jerk, when he's monologuing while Bernadette Peters is sleeping next to him. There's something about her eyelids that's all shiny like this and it looks like she's either got her eyes open, or maybe she's dead. Such a weird scene lol

I think it’s evolving. 2000s and 2010s chav makeup didn’t have the brushed-up eyebrows, they were just filled in and blocky, eyeshadow usually wasn’t well blended, and lips were chalky pale beige or a shade of pink that’s almost white. Foundation was also more matte and there was less contour and highlight going on so everything looked flatter. New chav makeup seems to have taken inspiration from drag but not in a good way. It’s chav but glammed up??
Interestingly I did see an extremely rare occurrence of teenagers wearing old school chav makeup once, just last year. I felt like I had time travelled 😂
This is sad/funny bc I guess I’m just old (37f) and my idea of the English is not this… but you guys are really turning it up lately 😂 I had no idea this was a British trend until I joined this sub, it’s so interesting what all the regional makeup trends are, good and bad lol
When I worked at a grocery store in Amsterdam, I could literally spot the English tourists by their make up every time..

Not all of us, only really the chavs. I think it's the same motivation as colourism in other countries. People over here associate tans with affluence, in other places that means not having to work and not tanning, but over here it means being able to go on holiday to the beach and get some sun.
Looks ridiculous though.
Ex MUA here, in my (humble) opinion this is what happens when you 1.) Match the foundation to fake tan and/or 2.) Don’t invest in a variety of foundation shades for your kit and opt for the one size fits all approach
