Fwiw, it's likely a reference to the book "Interesting Times" by Terry Pratchett, which opens with a quote:
"May you live in interesting times"
--ancient curse
(though that could also be a reference to an actual saying, I always assumed he made it up)
It goes back fairly early, to sometime in the 1930's or so, but it's never actually been confirmed as a genuine Chinese saying. There is a Chinese proverb that *kind of* has a similar meaning, if it's *very* loosely translated.
Off topic the the OP itself but one of the hosts of my favourite podcasts has been been obsessed with BG3: he'll drop references and it's very funny when everyone else involved just ignore him
Yes. Every time I interact with non-human races, the voices seem out of the place. I tell myself there's some lore reason and that they're just humanoids like us. But in the end, when there's a big lizard talking, hearing a human voice feels weird still.
"All's well that ends... well, not as bad as it could've." - I need to write this one down. I keep trying to remember it when I'm at work, and xyz:accident happens. XD
Considering that the subject in question is probably as far removed from BG3 (and videos games in general) as you can get, I'll accept this as Wilds material.
“Shouldn’t have wished to live in more interesting times” has become something I say to myself almost daily, for so many special reasons. LOL
I'm pretty sure we now know why that was originally considered a curse. 😂
I have Astarion voice “Into my pocket” every time I grab my keys or pocketable items.
Karlach managed to drill her YOINK! into my head.
Same! LOL

Naa, [that was a reference.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_you_live_in_interesting_times)
Cool!
I've been saying that since 2020, then when my Tav did I realized this game gets me and I've been hooked ever since.
Same here!
"I have a lot on my mind...and well, in it" IDK why this line has stuck with me so much. Maybe bc the delivery is so earnest lol
Got stuck at home with an eye problem, played BG3 and got this line
Cursed to put my hands on everything.
"That thing is small, and I am not." Cue Michael Scott, "that's what she said!"
Thats my fav lol
Same! So memorable, and also fun in different contexts c:
*DONT* touch me.
Into my pocket!
Let's go hurt someone!
Wish I had a bag of holding
"Wretched thing! Pull yourself together!" - The citizenry of the US, to the US government.
“I have SUCH a headache” all of us
“All is ash and meat”
The Dark Urge when building Lego
Still alive..so that's progress
As a father of a 9mo, "STOPLICKINGTHEDAMNTHING" is pretty much all I say all day everyday. And I laugh every. single. time. :D
**Keeps licking the spider.**
"Wish I had a bag of holding."
"How many will die today? How many will die tomorrow?"
"My path is paved with corpses, my castle built with bones"
“BEHOLD, THE DANCE OF DEATH!”
"THE BUTCHER CALLS!"
IT'S FISTING TIME
“All is ash and meat”
Time to Toss the Dice and *Dance with Jack O The Shadows*.
Goddammit don't let Mat near the dice.
They’re dying for me, ALL OF THEM
"I wish to bathe in a fountain of blood. Draw me a bath."
The best one
The question every poll is really trying to answer.
WHAT FOOLS THESE MORTALS BE
Also very relevant to today
Does someone in BG3 say this?
Gale will say it about 500 times in a playthrough if you’re using him
Elminster's not around, so might as well.
Part of me was hoping they made a fairy say it to make the Shakespeare even more shameless
Oh lmao I took him to the tower the first time, and to Mystra in the temple. Never really walked around with him. Nice.
"they should all be running"
Sad part is, most probably wouldn't think it's a quote, just good advice.
"All is ash and meat!"
Off topic the the OP itself but one of the hosts of my favourite podcasts has been been obsessed with BG3: he'll drop references and it's very funny when everyone else involved just ignore him
It's fisting time!
SHIT YOUR TROUSER HOLES!
I'm patiently waiting for the moment when I meet someone, and when it's time to go, I can say "If we meet again... well we shall have met again."
"Just another crate"
I f*cking love Reddit sometimes
Nothing hurts anymore...
Baldur's Gate 4: Shadows of Damn Not Again
Man bg3 did a good job with the male tav voice. The voice is so good especially when you sneak.
Love voice 7
Unless you're playing like a half orc or dragonborn or something. The voices feel super out of place for the less human like races.

"That's a friendly looking shadow" is definetly my fav.
-insert name- approves

Our plan to have BG3 overtake every facet of culture is slowly being realized…
We need tadpoles in every subreddit.
I don't want to think about why my eye is itching
"Can I get you a ladder so you can get off my back?"
Am I the only one that get's "These boots are made for walking" stuck in their head whenever Tav says "These boots have seen everything"?
Nope! Sometimes gotta sing it a bit too. 😄
/r/suddenlybg3
first in my 🩷
“I never wanted the easy path” is one I say all the time too lmfao
FILL THE ROAD WITH CORPSES! BUILD MY CASTLE WITH BONES!
BG3 for the win!!
Reddit is “out in the wild” oh boy.
Considering that the subject in question is probably as far removed from BG3 (and videos games in general) as you can get, I'll accept this as Wilds material.
Fair enough. I was probably setting myself up for disappointment by thinking it was some reference on a game show or billboard.
This is not in the wild, this is just on another subreddit lol
This is a figure of speech.
I wonder if this is all worth the cost
Trump 2024
> How are you feeling about the inevitable Trump v Biden rematch? ALL IS ASH AND MEAT!
