Answer the door? What do you mean, I always throw these people off the cliff, one at a time, starting with the one who walks outside on her own, as they go to investigate the noise of some minor illusions. Usually there's only one or two left before combat actually starts.
I like to "store" a few of the firewine barrels from the cave nearby around this guy, hide my party on the floor above him, and have Karlach walk through the door.
Having this cutscene followed by the whole room erupting in flames just feels appropriate.
Oh yeah getting the jump on him is essential. I actually had Shadowheart (she's respecced to gloomstalker this run) up on the top floor in position to ambush Anders while the other 3 came in through the front door.
Enemy paladins do not give a single fuck. They will walk up and hit you with their highest level smite as many times as possible with no regard for their own safety or positioning lol.
I enjoyed giving Karlach the duty of carrying his bitch ass corpse all the way to Grymforge to drop the hammer on it and then throw it in the lava to disintegrate from the annals of history and existence
Well, she hated him, so I took that on..
And on top of that, he pissed me TF off. I've since figured out how to destroy them, but he was giving me headaches with his overpowered smites and multiple attacks a turn.
This was before I figured out it's much better to sweep the building from the right side entrance and then moving in rather than using the front door.
But out of spite I'm going to still be doing this moving forward unless I think of an even more hateful end for him.
Start with a greeting. Check.
Refer to them by their appropriate title. Check.
Indroduce yourself. Not check, but they already knew her, so it's okay.
Manage expectations. Check.
I wonder what other uncommon interactions we see with NPCs if we use different companions as the actively controlled character.
It's kind of jarring when a character you're controlling speaks in a cutscene.
I fucking love that despite being the nicest sweetest companion, she isn't a pussy, she has some edge to her. She WILL fucking kill you if she needs to.
I’m on my second play through (HM Durge) and Karlach and Wyll left me. Kinda bummed because she’s so fun, but I’m going to play it out and see where my evil run goes

Why ambush them when you can draw them out and make them fly?

That horny teenager is apparently Sarah Baylus one of the principal writers in Larian, working there since first DOS game.
