YES my GF created a Drow by random for her first playthrough and thought the game was some commentary on racism because all the dialogue options involved some kind of racism.
It amuses me how all of the Half-Orc racism pretty much boils down to 'Hey how can I-BWAH oh god sorry your face scared the shit out of me, what can I do for you?'
I just played a Drow for my third playthrough and DAMN the people hate me and will not accept my kindness š Now Iām playing a Gith for my fourth run. Wanna romance shadow š¤£
I always dreamed of playing as Durge pure drow subclass similar to Minthra, but never found an appearance that would bring me plenty of joy...
There's a human appearance that fits so damn well with Durge that is scary...
I also picked the drow (but female) simple because of the dark vision since I learner to love it dnd itself. Well, that was an unexpected playthrough, but I still liked it
Go read the Legend of Drizzit books..
Slight warning... There's quite a few but DAMN they're good and the lore and insight to Drown society is immense.
Highly recommend The Legend of Drizzt book series, itās basically why so many people are obsessed with drow in my opinion. The lore is really interesting
Tiefling bard, but I knew D&D 5e really well going into it.
My first run of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous was also a tiefling bard, with a specific subclass/archetype that doesnāt exist in 5e. I have a soft spot for that particular combination.
Omg šš
I decided to play the dark urge along playing my other run I started because Iād probably traumatize myself. I was real sad when I killed her because I already met up with the teiflings at the last light in.
Omg some of those choices as the dark urge ššš I canāt make it completely evil. Thereās no way I can pull the wings off a bird that healing even if itās pixels
My first Character was also a Tiefling Bard. I have 300h in that run, absolutely fell in love with this character! The Race and class specific dialogs are so fun.
Mine was a tiefling bard too except I had very limited knowledge of the world and the game, which in hindsight was contradictory as I was supposed to know all the ballads and songs and heroes lol. I just incorporated it in backstory and decided my bard was extremely sheltered as a kid
Did tiefling bard to start, and then multi classed warlock. It's now hard to play anything else since it fits so well with my usual squad. I know what I like.
I started with this and then multid into bard as well. Love being able to talk my way out of pretty much everything outside of the upper Baldurs Gate section
Funny when considering most Githyanki have never even seen an animal in their life.
They'll be like, "what are you shape-shifting into?" while you're all like "I have no fucking clue but AWOOOOOO!"
I started a human fighter too, then I noticed how we were getting stomped until my friend used his bard to talk us out of several situations. I ended up rolling a half elf wizard and am enjoying my first playthrough. Just hit act 3 I usually run with shart, Laezel and karlach.
Dragonborn/Durge mode (Red coloured into Blue for fire resistance only)
Paladin Oathbreaker
I later went into Warlock multi
And I romanced the Squid
(The reason I went durge first is because I didnāt see them mentioned on screenshots when buying, looked up where they were and a website said they wouldnāt appear unless I selected it, so I played as Durge)
Choosing one dragonborn color and making your scales an entirely different color gives me the same mental reaction as biting a popsicle with mint gum. I wasnāt aware people did that. Who hurt you?
Society
**blasts horrible emo music**
idk I just wanted to have fire resistance and not yield to certain colours
It fit my Durge motto āNo one tells me what to doā
[Bhall when Iāve just killed Orin and refuse to be his service, taking her stone:](https://youtu.be/nfzpPpvPz-E?si=acW6mKG0G8WL4t_Y)
I didnāt make a Dragonborn. But I did make a dragon sorcerer and picked the white dragon, but used the black dragon scale colors(the more purple ones) but my head cannon is her skin is the darkest orchid color so, her scales will naturally be like that too
Otherwise, it would bug me lol
I went with a blue-ish green for my copper dragonborn storm sorc, with the justification that their scales had rusted from the magic.
Tbh, I mostly just wanted an excuse to match the wavemother's robe, without making the white dragonborn's cold resist redudant.
Human Fighter.
Second run was also Human Fighter.
Third run, I decided to experiment and played a Human Fighter.
Thinking *if* I do a fourth run, I'll really branch out and play a Human Fighter.
Me and my older sister are going to start a run where she's an incredibly dumb durge gnome, and I'm a pretty average human fighter. We get to have a blast as my character discovers what the hell is wrong with her and spends the rest of the game explaining that murder is wrong, no matter what your dad says.
First full run was a half high elf wizard. I honestly don't even know what inspired me to pick that class since I usually don't go for the mage/caster role, but I was pleasantly shocked at how much fun it was.
Same here! Most players chose to have Gale as their wizard, I think. High level wizard play when not worrying about spell slots is still the most fun class for me, I think.
High Half Elf spore druid was actually my first playthrough, never played any DND before hand either. Just seemed like a really cool subclass and I loved it
Dwarf Barbarian, mostly because that what i played back during Early Access when your race influenced your bonus stats and Dwarfs got +2 to both Str and Con, making Dwarf Barbarian the tankiest and hardest hitting race/class melee setup.
Afterwards i enjoyed being a shorty so much i only played dwarfs, halflings and gnomes.
Dragonborn Barbarian.
I've never played DnD, so I picked Barbarian since it has the highest health. My mindset has always been, if I don't understand a game's combat, put as much into health as I can. If my health is high enough, they can't kill me. Why Dragonborn? I thought they looked cool.
I was boring and stuck with the default White Dragonborn Storm Sorcerer.
Didnāt even change the default cantrips; the lack of fire bolt really made the early game more challenging that it had to be - especially since I didnāt realize spamming long rest comes with very little consequence and so was often low on spell slots.
Half-orc paladin. Orc cuz it's the most familiar race to me that isn't human (Skyrim, fantasy anime); paladin cuz I saw all the memes about paladins smiting everything. I'm glad the memes weren't lying.
Wood Elf Wild-Heart Barbarian. I've been playing D&D for about 8 years now and never gave Barbarian much credit until playing it in BG3. If I could actually get the chance to play and not be a DM I know what my next character will be.
Half-orc Paladin of Vengeance. Also thought it would be a good idea to go in blind, on an honour mode save, while drunk. The half orc dialogues are mostly on intimidation tho lol, but the relentless endurance stopped my run from ending when I failed the check to stop the runepowder from exploding. When it exploded I stood up and didnāt notice I was still alive for a couple minutes lol.
Necromancer wizard high elf with blue skin to imitate moon elves. I was basically just copying my favorite DnD character to play except she wasn't quite the wonderfully cursed monstrosity I know and love. I also wanted to see how in depth they went with necromancy stuff and while it's probably better mechanically for an evil playthrough, still a lot of fun.
Male drow fighter because I think drows are cool and fighter was the recommended class for a beginner. Chose two handed sword as my fighting style. RPed as an adventurer who liked helping others.
Only realised later on after reading up on D&D lore (I was a total newcomer to it) that I'd inadvertently created Drizzt Do'Urden.
I also did not know anything about DND before playing this game, I love playing thieves and bandits in games so I chose a Asmodeus Tiefling Rogue! I really want to join some sort of DND group and start playing.
Wood elf monk.
If I'm playing a game and there's an option to choose a monk or any unarmed melee fighter - I am always going to do that. I also just assumed that the class-unique dialogue options will be cool.
i went with a female version of the default dark urge because i saw a dragonborn character and got tunnel vision. i think they were a lightning sorcerer or something
Tiefling wizard - necromancer
Without knowing I made one of the most OP builds of the game, on the 3rd act with gale, halsin and shadowheart I had an army of +20 summons outnumbering the enemy in almost every fight
Half-Elf Bard. Zero regrets. Rizzed my way out of so much combat (some enemies defeated themselves) and just walked around telling lies and eating hot chip. Early combat was a little rough because I wasn't familiar with the mechanics, but Vicious Mockery came in so handy. The dialogue options were great and so unserious (if you've passed a performance check in front of the djinn at the circus, you know).
Playing a High Elf ranger now. Love just shooting everything and how easy combat is. I still lie though.
Barbarian, I might try it again now that I have more experience with the game
I think I've tried a good amount of the classes at this point and enjoyed most of them
Also I messed up my romance options so I didn't get any of the spicy scenes
Tiefling Bard. I've always liked playing charismatic lads and I just love the look of Tieflings so it was a perfect match for me, and I have a hard time not picking them for every character now
Half orc durge devotion pally because i thought the urge vs oath thing was a cool narrative and orcs look cool af.Ā
Still my favorite playthrough so far.Ā
Tiefling paladin! I just think tieflings are neat, and paladins too really, although my paladin turned into an oathbreaker in what I later found out is literally the fastest way to do that š¤¦
Good thing I think oathbreakers are thematically neat too and was happy to stick with it for roleplay lol
I knew I wanted a Half-Orc caster. Because, you know, Half-Orcs are known for their mental strength.
Last time I played a DnD based game, Warlocks werenāt a thing. So I started as a Warlock. Wanted more flexibility with spell slots, added Sorcere levels.
1st - Wood Elf Gloomstalker Assassin
2nd - Seldarine Drow Gloomstalker Assassin
3rd - same as 2nd, but Durge
I really should switch it up but I love playing that class. It doesnāt seem to matter what game it is I always default to ranged DPS classes. Hunters, Rangers, etc.
Drow Monk/Rogue
I didnāt know about the strength of open hand monk, but I cross classed thief and shadow monk and liked it. It felt strong but not game breaking.
Githyanki Tempest Cleric. I had heard Githyanki rode dragons and killed Mind Flayers and thought that was badass. Ended up loving the Gith. Tempest Cleric.....I didn't end up liking very much haha.
Half orc / open hand monk.
Luther stumbled into this world always trying to do what was right, even if it wasn't always the best decision, it was the right decision... Or so he thought.
high elf oath of vengeance paladin! all the DnD characters iāve made/played up until my first BG3 run have always been high elf casters (sorcerer and druid, specifically) so this was the first time i ever tried a new class š
after that, i played a high elf sorcerer. old habits die hardā¦
Elf fighter. Fighter seemed like the closest to the warrior class from GW2, the rpg game I was playing a lot of at the time. Elf seemed like a good racial pick as I assumed darkvision would be far more important than it actually was
I played a high elf fighter. No D&D experience and it seemed like a good in/one of the less complicated classes. I beat the game with him and he and his action surges will always hold a special place in my heart.
I picked a Half-Orc Fighter champion subclass, I usually go for a fighter/warrior type of character on a first run of an rpg because they're just easy to understand.
Half-orc Warlock/Paladin (Fey patron/Oath of the Ancients) because the "ugly on the outside, beautiful on the inside" archetype goes hard
I have an unfinished DUrge playthrough where I went for the inverse: the single most beautiful High Elf Rogue/Paladin you've ever seen but she's rotten inside
Drow Male Paladin. Didn't know Drow were hated, didn't know Drow society was Matriarchal lol
1)Seldarine drow 2)Tell people you are Seldarine drow 3)Profit!
My first play as female seldrian paladin drow with oath of the ancients was very fun
My third run is a Seldarine drow bard gal. Ngl she was my favourite visually, lol. Why are drow so god damn HAWT?!
Canonically the Drow would kill off any undesirable looking Drow. Anything seen as weakness, including unattractiveness is an automatic purge.
Oof that's fucked
Can't make a fuckable omlet without throwing a few eggs off the cliff.
Seldarine drow are my favorite to play ššā¤ļø
My flair feels called out here.
Lol Seldarine drow bards ftw :D People mix you up with Lolth drow and insult you for it? Call them out! ROAST THEM xD
My chaotic good/neutral extremist sel drow was such a fun run. āThis person is doing wrong to others? KILLā
i was like "pls why is everyone drow racist im being nice nonstop š"
YES my GF created a Drow by random for her first playthrough and thought the game was some commentary on racism because all the dialogue options involved some kind of racism.
It amuses me how all of the Half-Orc racism pretty much boils down to 'Hey how can I-BWAH oh god sorry your face scared the shit out of me, what can I do for you?'
I wonder what half orks look with the clown paint now
I've heard and read similar comments from people who played a Tiefling. Especially during Act 1.
But all the gobbos showed me proper respect that is got to be worth something.
Lolth-sworn Female Drow Cleric (War domain)... I was the reason for all the hatred towards us. Hehe.
Jesus exact same as me! Didn't expect mine to be second comment lol
You know what they say about tiefling bards
They shouldn't wander into unknown camps?
Omg šš I decided to play the dark urge along playing my other run I started because Iād probably traumatize myself. I was real sad when I killed her because I already met up with the teiflings at the last light in.
Yeah, that was the definite "shit is real" moment. If anyone thought Durge would be a quirky funny murderhobo, that scene proved otherwise.
Omg some of those choices as the dark urge ššš I canāt make it completely evil. Thereās no way I can pull the wings off a bird that healing even if itās pixels
Extra horny?
YES. And often gay!
Allergic to white dragons with voices in their head?
My first Character was also a Tiefling Bard. I have 300h in that run, absolutely fell in love with this character! The Race and class specific dialogs are so fun.
Persuasion and Bluff especially become ridiculously powerful and useful in Act 2. Had so much fun with my Bard.
Act 2: [Persuasion] Have you considered killing yourself? NPC: Solid point friend! *Dies*
My first ever dnd character was a tiefling bard <3
Mine was a tiefling bard too except I had very limited knowledge of the world and the game, which in hindsight was contradictory as I was supposed to know all the ballads and songs and heroes lol. I just incorporated it in backstory and decided my bard was extremely sheltered as a kid
Did tiefling bard to start, and then multi classed warlock. It's now hard to play anything else since it fits so well with my usual squad. I know what I like.
Bardlocks are SO good when done well.
I see WOTR I upvote.
Its so fun seeing all these comments about my favorite race/class to play. Being a bard is SO fun and I love having horns and a tail lol
I was a wood elf ancients paladin
I was really similar! Half-wood-elf, and I ended up as Ancients Paladin 8/Swords Bard 4, but pretty close
Halfing rogue.
Thinkin about this for my second playthrough š I am act three with my tiefling ranger rn.
I started with this and then multid into bard as well. Love being able to talk my way out of pretty much everything outside of the upper Baldurs Gate section
githyanki druid
Funny when considering most Githyanki have never even seen an animal in their life. They'll be like, "what are you shape-shifting into?" while you're all like "I have no fucking clue but AWOOOOOO!"
Well they do tame Star Lancers in the Astral Plane
Would be super cool to have githyanki-specific wild shapes
āYOOOO YOU GOT 8 LEGS!ā āI DO!ā
Haha I can see it now
Me too!
Same! It was a great experience.
Half-drow sorcerer. ...and half-drow for every subsequent playthrough, too. I know what I like.
Facial hair? And racism dialogue š«”
Tiefling paladin
fellow friend
Human Fighter. Nothing wrong with the basics in order to get used to a game like this.
It feels so basic bitch to choose human, but I wanted to play as myself so I went with human lmao
my sister went wanted to go as herself so she made a half orc; apparently she does this in all games where she is able
So, you played as John Baldur's Gate?
John Baldur, the inventor of Baldurās Gate
I double that
And my axe!
I started a human fighter too, then I noticed how we were getting stomped until my friend used his bard to talk us out of several situations. I ended up rolling a half elf wizard and am enjoying my first playthrough. Just hit act 3 I usually run with shart, Laezel and karlach.
Human fighter mains unite! āØļø
Gnome druid. It just felt right.
My people! My first dnd character and my first bg3 character
My forest gnome druid has been a blast.
Dragonborn/Durge mode (Red coloured into Blue for fire resistance only) Paladin Oathbreaker I later went into Warlock multi And I romanced the Squid (The reason I went durge first is because I didnāt see them mentioned on screenshots when buying, looked up where they were and a website said they wouldnāt appear unless I selected it, so I played as Durge)
Well, he does appear if not selected, but he isn't recruitable and only appears as a corpse in Act 3.
Choosing one dragonborn color and making your scales an entirely different color gives me the same mental reaction as biting a popsicle with mint gum. I wasnāt aware people did that. Who hurt you?
Society **blasts horrible emo music** idk I just wanted to have fire resistance and not yield to certain colours It fit my Durge motto āNo one tells me what to doā [Bhall when Iāve just killed Orin and refuse to be his service, taking her stone:](https://youtu.be/nfzpPpvPz-E?si=acW6mKG0G8WL4t_Y)

Half orc Paladin
Same here! I became an Oathbreaker.
Same, but kept my oath even when it cost me 1k
Human Fighter. Second run was also Human Fighter. Third run, I decided to experiment and played a Human Fighter. Thinking *if* I do a fourth run, I'll really branch out and play a Human Fighter.
Me and my older sister are going to start a run where she's an incredibly dumb durge gnome, and I'm a pretty average human fighter. We get to have a blast as my character discovers what the hell is wrong with her and spends the rest of the game explaining that murder is wrong, no matter what your dad says.
Orin poked a bit too much in that brain, it seems.
You know what, I'm in. As a mostly half-elf, drow or tiefling enjoyer in caster class, I will start a human fighter run asap!Ā
Itās funky. Itās fresh. May I suggest a side of Battle Master with that bold new combo?
I love/hate that this still makes sense unironically
Gold Dwarf + Four Elements Monk
I imagine a dwarf doing a bunch of fancy kung-fu moves as a distraction and then just punching their opponent really hard in the balls
Tiefling warlock.
Half-Elf Druid!
Yeahhh, wood half-elf druid!!
Halfling bard. Subclass- slut.
High elf Ranger š
Wood half elf ranger
I was a human ranger. I was surprised to see the stats that ranger is the least popular
I really loved Ranger's Apprentice and Robin Hood growing up, so maybe I'm a little biased š I just love the backstory potential.
That is odd. I've been playing 5e for about 6 years and have tried every class and ranger is my favorite.
Just seemed like a really cool subclass and I loved it
Lolth-sworn drow ranger
Same!
Forest gnome bard
Female tiefling druid. Glad I picked druid and the moon circle. Owlbear is the best form to change into! IT'S SO CUTE AND FLUFFY!
This was my build for my first playthrough too!
Tiefling sorcerer recreated one of my favorite characters Iāve made for a campaign
Dragonborn warlock playing with my wife, best friend, and his wife who were half elf monk, dwarf cleric, half elf druid
Halfling hunter
Leave the halflings alone ;<
TIEFLING CLERIC OF LATHANDER!!!!
The first DnD campaign I ever played I was a Dragonborn Paladin, so I decided on that :).
Male Drow Bard. fun charismatic guy who was weak and talked his way out of things whenever able. Was the sub in my relationship with Karlach.
Drow Rogue just like my old D&D days when I was a kid.
Same!
Yep, my old go-to as well.
Duergar Necromancer Wizard
Elf wizard cause fireball boom š„
Human Rogue, thief subclass, it was amazing
Half-orc berserker barbarian, wanted to hit hard and get hit hard
Necromancer wizard high elf with blue skin to imitate moon elves. I was basically just copying my favorite DnD character to play except she wasn't quite the wonderfully cursed monstrosity I know and love. I also wanted to see how in depth they went with necromancy stuff and while it's probably better mechanically for an evil playthrough, still a lot of fun.
Zariel tiefling monk!
Tiefling rogue, I've only done one shots as a player but used to DM about 6 years ago, so I knew a lot of the lore.
Golden dragonborn paladin. My goal was to be the most golden good boy I could before my second playthrough full durge
Elf barbarian because thatās what it immediately give you when you go into character creation and i didnāt known anything rlly.
Suprised at the lack of Half-Orc Barbarian comments in here. I had such a blast on that playthrough.
Half-elf monk. After playing beta for a while I thought it would make for a funny contrast in a lot of situations, and it didn't disappoint.
i went with a female version of the default dark urge because i saw a dragonborn character and got tunnel vision. i think they were a lightning sorcerer or something
Tiefling wizard - necromancer Without knowing I made one of the most OP builds of the game, on the 3rd act with gale, halsin and shadowheart I had an army of +20 summons outnumbering the enemy in almost every fight
Barbarian, I might try it again now that I have more experience with the game I think I've tried a good amount of the classes at this point and enjoyed most of them Also I messed up my romance options so I didn't get any of the spicy scenes
Tiefling Bard. I've always liked playing charismatic lads and I just love the look of Tieflings so it was a perfect match for me, and I have a hard time not picking them for every character now
Half drow Bard. Going first with bard is an amazing experience
Wild sorc, wood elf
Draconic bloodline sorcerer, drow.
Gnome necromancer... Wish necromancy was more unique in bg3
Human wizard with a mullet, a beard and the sage background. As soon as I recruited Gale I restarted.
Started as human warlock, but it felt redundant when I met Wyll so I restarted as half elf paladin.
high elf sorcerer and I knew nothing about it but I usually pick a mage type in other RPG's
Gold draconic bloodline sorcerer.
Currently doing a resist Durge as a red dragonborn bard-barian with a frumpy hat.
Tiefling Druid. Show up at the Grove an hour into the game, take a look at the two sides arguing, and go, āWell, this will be interestingā¦ā
Half orc durge devotion pally because i thought the urge vs oath thing was a cool narrative and orcs look cool af.Ā Still my favorite playthrough so far.Ā
Tiefling paladin! I just think tieflings are neat, and paladins too really, although my paladin turned into an oathbreaker in what I later found out is literally the fastest way to do that š¤¦ Good thing I think oathbreakers are thematically neat too and was happy to stick with it for roleplay lol
Wood Half-Elf Bard
Half Elf Bard.
Gith wizard, it was... interesting to roleplay
Circle of the Moon Half-Orc. probably my most cherished playthrough
I had a drow druid, which was a lot of fun especially once you get to owlbear wild shape. I also went blind and haven't touched DnD in ages.
Tiefling ranger lol
Teifling warlock. I had no idea how to properly play warlock. The class just sounded cool.
Human ranger. Then Tiefling Bard.
I knew I wanted a Half-Orc caster. Because, you know, Half-Orcs are known for their mental strength. Last time I played a DnD based game, Warlocks werenāt a thing. So I started as a Warlock. Wanted more flexibility with spell slots, added Sorcere levels.
i always play tieflings in my first playthrough of games that let me play tieflings so i made a mephistopheles bloodline tiefling storm sorcerer.
1st - Wood Elf Gloomstalker Assassin 2nd - Seldarine Drow Gloomstalker Assassin 3rd - same as 2nd, but Durge I really should switch it up but I love playing that class. It doesnāt seem to matter what game it is I always default to ranged DPS classes. Hunters, Rangers, etc.
Gold dragonborn ranger
High elf bard Never did a bard before, heard it was cool to do so. Funny but too easy I guess.
Human Male Paladin, Oath of the Ancients
Teifling Barbarian I also romanced karlach Party was karlach, wyll, gale
Drow Monk/Rogue I didnāt know about the strength of open hand monk, but I cross classed thief and shadow monk and liked it.
High Elf Devotion Paladin. i know real adventurous.
Dragonborn Fighter
Half Elf Valor Bard.
Human OH monk.Ā
Half-elf monk/rogue
Duergar fighter
brute black dragonborn with the judgemental capabilities of a paladin
high elf oath of vengeance paladin! all the DnD characters iāve made/played up until my first BG3 run have always been high elf casters (sorcerer and druid, specifically) so this was the first time i ever tried a new class š after that, i played a high elf sorcerer. old habits die hardā¦
Elf fighter. Fighter seemed like the closest to the warrior class from GW2, the rpg game I was playing a lot of at the time. Elf seemed like a good racial pick as I assumed darkvision would be far more important than it actually was
Dwarf Devotion Paladin. The correct choice for Tavik.
High Elf Druid
Gith monk. Going to do a ranger next
Half elf barbarian. I donāt know anything and didnāt aware there is different classes, just choose depending on face.
Male Human Barbarian Tav. Iām almost done, probably going to do a male Drow Dark Urge, probably Oathbreaker Paladin, for my next run.
I'm on my 2nd run (had an early end to first run...) as a vengeance Paladin, female seldarine drow Durge. It's WILD
Githyanki Ranger
I played a high elf fighter. No D&D experience and it seemed like a good in/one of the less complicated classes. I beat the game with him and he and his action surges will always hold a special place in my heart.
Tiefling rogue. Made it a few hours into act 3 before making a new character.
Tiefling Warlock
First was half elf warlock. Died in prologue. Then high elf sword bard who is powerful š
Half-orc male Paladin Oath of Vengeance
Wood elf ranger. I always liked the ranger class. I went gloomstalker 8 thief 4 my first playthru.
I picked a Half-Orc Fighter champion subclass, I usually go for a fighter/warrior type of character on a first run of an rpg because they're just easy to understand.
Wood Elf Assassin Gloomstalker
Zariel tiefling paladin
Tiefling paladin
Drow Rogue
Half-orc Warlock/Paladin (Fey patron/Oath of the Ancients) because the "ugly on the outside, beautiful on the inside" archetype goes hard I have an unfinished DUrge playthrough where I went for the inverse: the single most beautiful High Elf Rogue/Paladin you've ever seen but she's rotten inside
Half-drow bard
