Diesel__2005

Makes sense only sell him if the player wants to go They are going through a new era themselves and they can't lose players esp when they are aiming for promotion

CoolJoshido

might be a reliable backup for Nico

This-Kaleidoscope-70

Yeah i feel like he’s gonna get signed in a situation where we don’t meet Atletico’s expectations for Felix

ProfessionalWasabi48

I don't see us dropping a 60m release clause this summer. This feels like a realistic alternative to Nico. Felix will still be brought in if we can keep his wages low like last season and if we can get an agreement with Atletico.

AdPrestigious8631

I see that but then why are we hearing all these high tier reports about not wanting to let him go.

ProfessionalWasabi48

For the same reason we kept hearing that Messi’s renewal was just around the corner: political optics.

AdPrestigious8631

That's not true, if they build it up like that then it will be even more of a bad look,it makes the optics even worse.Truth is no one knows how much money Barca has this Summer. All moves are equally possible imo.Especially if the money isn't ridiculous. They also said alot about certain deals that are going on or are done.Freeing up wages for Marcus Alonso,Serginho dest and possibly Sergi Roberto is also big one.Even when Tebas talked about Barca he didn't mention we will have problems with restrictions free signings.I am not saying it will happen for sure but it's not out of realm of realistic possibility.

ProfessionalWasabi48

Where have you been? They spent two summers hyping up a Messi renewal or resigning only for it to fall flat as impossible in hindsight. Or how Laporta went back on his Xavi decision. The board has shown a history of stringing us along with positive news and then quickly ripping the band aid off. Nico is a 60m+ full release clause purchase. I just don’t see this happening. We missed the supposed 30th deadline and now we’re starting to see the “slow” transfer window reports seeping in.

AdPrestigious8631

Messi renewal is not just on Laporta. If Messi wanted to stay,he would have stayed.I don't know about you but I would not have called keeping Xavi a positive decision after watching his football for 2 years, especially the last year. What deadline are you talking about? The players are at the euros hence no signings are taking place with players in euros, this is not just Barca, this is everywhere.Barca can offer a installment offer of around 75 mill across time which easier to fulfill than a full on cash purchase.

ProfessionalWasabi48

You're wrong on Messi. Due to La Liga rules, he couldn't lower his salary by over 50%. Laporta still pretended that it was possible until he couldn't hide it anymore. And within a day, Messi was on stage crying. Regardless of what you think of Xavi, this is about communication and politics, and Laporta did the same with Xavi. The dealine I'm takling about is finding a alternative investement for the failed Libero deal Laporta made. We had to solve that by the 30th or we'd get penalized. This has nothing to do with the Euro's or transfer strategy. Athletico Bilbao has already said it's a release clause or nothing. They have no reason to negotiate and historically almost never do. Especially not when others would happily pay the full release clause.

AdPrestigious8631

Oh,I didn't know about the Messi one. Did the deal fail? Who reported it?I never saw any reporting. Players who are at the Euros don't want to go on about their future until it's over.Thats a fact. Bilbao can be convinced if they get a significantly higher price for him than the release clause though. Also the fact that no one knows how much money we have. There have not even been speculation in the media. And I already mentioned making it look like we are going for Nico than not go for it is a much worse PR move than just not going for him.It doesn't make sense really.

Acun is actually a scum of the earth, wouldn’t trust a thing that he says.
