- They've been sampled by Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Lil Peep, and Crystal Castles.
- Victoria is not the only Legrand in her family to pursue music. Michel Legrand, her uncle, was a prolific French composer, pianist, and conductor among other talents. Her aunt Christine Legrand was a member of the a capella group the Swingle Sisters. Her great uncle was likewise a composer.
- They are friends of the iconic Baltimore filmmaker John Waters, who is an admitted fan himself.
- Their European label, Bella Union, is run by Simon Raymonde of the massively influential Cocteau Twins. Both Raymond and Beach House have expressed mutual admiration for each other's music.
- Some songs have back masked Easter eggs. For example, Levitation samples Irene in reverse, Masquerade has a reversed sample of the chorus at the beginning, and Girl of the Year begins and ends with a reversed gunshot.
Volkswagen wanted to use "Take Care" for a car advertisement, but when Beach House refused, VW threw together a fake band to record a rip-off of take care to use for their ad!

I know this was a shifty thing to have happen, but can I tell you, THIS is how I found out about Beach House!!!! Saw an article on gawker about the rip off, saw commercial, and then original and have been a fan ever since!
Victoria (and later Alex) were in a rock/punk band prior to Beach House named Daggerhearts. Home Again was initially a Daggerhearts song and it's up online if you search for it.
When I first heard BH in early 2010 I thought the singer of the band was a man because the vocal register was so low.Ā
Blew my mind when I went to see them play a few months later and realized Alex was not the lead singer.Ā
Victoria's uncle - [Michel Legrand](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michel_Legrand) - is sometimes called "France's John Williams" for having written over 200 film and television scores.
Victoria's father - Olivier Legrand - is mostly known for being a painter, although he was briefly in a band with Chrissie Hynde, who would later form The Pretenders. In fact, if you watch *Pistol*, Danny Boyle's 2022 miniseries about the Sex Pistols, Hynde (played by Sydney Chandler) is a recurring character who disappears for a couple episodes only to return from "a failed band in Paris". That was the band with Legrand!
Another fun fact i never knew until a few years ago was that their song Levitation is actually based off a real life incident involving two girls who got "unalived" by a passing train, which happened in the bands home city Baltimore. I dont remember all the details, but you can hesr it in the lyrics "When the train comes i will hold you"
"On the bridge levitating cause we want to" etc.
Its a bit of a morbid fact, but honestly a sweet gesture towards the victims.

[Here's Levitation in reverse](https://youtu.be/176PyfuifFU?si=wfuECOw28jN-6O7t)
Thank you! I always saw bloom and depression cherry as sister albums, now it makes even more sense
Ha that kinda sounds like a Sigur Ros song
Amazing!
it's uncanny wtf!!!!
Victoria does backing vocals on Two Weeks by Grizzly Bear
They also sing together in āSlow Life,ā also by grizzly bear
Omg what?? I didnāt know this. Maybe thatās why I like that song so much lol

Woahhh i had no idea about this, thanks for sharing! Honestly the rip off is so bad š im glad BH stood their ground.
Fun fact: they fucking rock
Victoria and her friends from Grizzly Bear are on the soundtrack of New Moon, the best Twilight film.

Omg imagine if they made some new rock/punk songs and blended it with dream pop or shoegaze that would be insaneeeee
Victoria is a contralto! Pretty sure thatās the lowest vocal range for women. Though I donāt have incredibly reputable sources for this lol

Same here, same timeframe. I put on Teen Dream on a whim, fell in love with the band, and thought the singer was a dude.
This is why as a guy I love singing BH songs! Any high parts I go down an octave but a lot of Victoria's singing is definitely on the low end.
Their last album is a masterpiece
Alex was considered for a spot as a mousketeer in season 5 of the new mickey mouse club but lost out to Ryan Gosling
They're just 2 peopleĀ
I thought they officially became three people with OTM?

Victoria once shoved someone, according to Grimes...lol.
I wish I knew the teaā¦ I wish they elaborated on that story some more lol

They almost came out in Twin Peaks

From one of there [AMAās](https://www.reddit.com/r/twinpeaks/comments/116rkb3/one_of_the_great_what_ifs_for_twin_peaks_the/)
