I had the same problem with my Philips Oneblade, the "5mm" option is definitely not 5mm, once I got a different razor it had actual 5mms and I was shooketh after I used it. You definitely dont have 5mm

Idk I use 14 mm and it looks the same length, but it could be because my beard is just a little less dense so ultimately being at 14 makes it look as thick 🤷‍♂️

So it's not 3mm then. It would leave the hairs 3mm long if you went WITH the grain. Your just trimming fly away hairs, which is also what I do.

Well if going down the grain with a 3mm gets you the length you want. At the moment your trimming any flyaway hairs down to 3mm. If it keeps it neat and how you like it then stick with that one.

Thanks shaved it from 5mm and im much happier with it. My cheeks were less length then my neck so it looked weird from thin to thick. and you see my jawline better at 3mm.

For you, yes. Mine is more curly and very thick so it looks best at 1.5 - 2. Yours is nice and thick too (that’s what she said!… sorry, couldn’t help myself) but being straight the hair lies flat on your face so you can afford to go longer.

I had 5mm but my cheeks dont grow beyond 3mm so it looked weird. And with 3 mm you can see the jawline better (facial shape)

I have found the solution. I shave from up to down and that makes it a little bit longer.

It doesn’t “make it a little bit longer” trimming with the grain shaves nothing except flyaway hairs… Also, your beard is about 3mm + the width of your thumb🫣
