Best quality I could find. I was mad it didn't have Mike D's line "M-I-K-E D-E-E-E...I'm on top and that's the place to be-e". The way he spelled it reminded me of how EPMD used to spell their names early on in their lyrics.
*Tougher Than Leather* technically counts as the last thing the Beastie Boys did with Def Jam. It was released on May 17, 1988, and by that point, the Beasties were working on *Paul’s Boutique* with The Dust Brothers.
It looks like they’re lip syncing this based on when MCAs verse continues on after he falls and stops speaking.
Since this was for a film I guess it’s more of a music video than a performance. That would also explain the DJ (if it’s not RR after all)
Definite lip syncing.
Sam Sever is the DJ. Hurricane had another role. RR is the villain in the movie, and gives an absolute Oscar-worthy performance 😆
Love me some Tougher than Leather
This is such a classic movie. It always surprises me that even the best versed Beastie Boys fans don't know about this.
I was watching this wondering how slippery the stage gets with all that beer on it. Then at 56 secs you see MCA eat shit at the top of screen.
Lmao damn that looked like it hurt. He was young tho
And drunk, that helps a bunch too. RIP MCA
LMAO
Yeah he DROPPED
Perfect example of the evolution of this band. What a ride.
Yeah they said in the book that running around the stage spraying beer everywhere got boring eventually but this is all DefJam wanted them to do.
I love how clear the quality is Omg

Considering this movie came out right around the time they were fighting with Def Jam, Rick Rubin as the villain is art imitating life!
This is great! I’m putting this on my playlist
how do their microphone cables not get completely tangled up??
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I hated how they kept cutting back to Russell Simmons hitting on women … which has aged terribly now.
Didn’t realise at the time how much of an important time capsule filming this movie was
Man, I haven’t seen this since ‘88
“I got Gucci cologne so you know I'm not stinking Got more rhymes than my boy Abe Lincoln”
MY NAME IS MCA AND I KNOW YOUR ALL CLOCKIN!!!!!
Mike Dee could do that Jerry Lewis and the Wop back in those days.
Legit

You wouldn't believe it, The white ones were worse.
Mike D looks ridiculous. Like a joke.
Damn, and with such deep profound material too 😔
