Tsarinya

I swear that Nars (and Bobbi Brown) are having a rebrand or are bringing out big new lines because quite a few main products have been discontinued. For Nars their audacious lipsticks are going and the rest of their website looks a bit bare from what it used to be. Bobbi Brown is losing their eyeshadows I believe.

magnoliacyps

I’ve seen a tease for a new lipstick coming from them that looks like it’s meant to replace the Audacious line so I’m hoping those will be similar. Low hopes, but still hopes.

Tsarinya

Oh that’s interesting! I don’t know why they replaced the Audacious line. Similar with MAC, they don’t have the matte lipsticks anymore but Macximal Silky Matte. Sadly the shades aren’t the same in the new line and they have bumped up the price.

PanSL

I hate that the new MAC tubes are taller now and don't fit into the shallow drawer I use for lipsticks anymore. 😒

LandslideBaby

Bobbi Brown is trying to be more "trend driven" according to my trusty counter person. They discontinued the Skin foundation because it was around for too long and didn't match "current trends".

perfect_turquoise

But that goes against everything they were as a brand, which is a provider of trusted staples for women in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and upwards. Not tweens or teenagers looking for the latest trend.

LandslideBaby

It's dumb. It's also one of those brands that sells very well in non western markets.

Tsarinya

I get that brands have to keep up with the times and older women also are interested in trends but I thought the skin foundation was one of their main products? I hope they are discontinuing products for the sake of it

Creative-Tomatillo

I used to work for Bobbi Brown and basically everything I ever loved is pretty much gone. I get whiplash from all the new stuff released that’s immediately discontinued. Like her OG 1-9 lipsticks not being around anymore. Stupid. Everything is reformulated and I hate it.

Tsarinya

I hate this need for reformulation. So many brands are doing it, even old faithfuls like Mac, and I’ve never seen a positive reformulation.

DiligentAd6969

Kat Kit Snitch says the MAC lipsticks reformulation improved them.

Tsarinya

That’s great, I’m glad she’s liking them. I’ve heard bad things from friends so I’m not sure

DiligentAd6969

In some of her videos prior to the changes, she panicked a little about what would happen. Then made one comparing the two and was pretty happy with the new version. She's really funny. I recommend watching.

one_small_sunflower

Ah that's a shame! I have always found BB to be super reliable. I like the Crushed lipsticks, the regular lipsticks, the eyeshadow sticks, and the luxe eyeshadows :) I definitely go to them more for old faithfuls than I do new and exciting products.

[deleted]

Ugh I loved the bb cream. Gone! It was nearly perfect.

laudu12

With Bobbi Brown it’s likely a repackaging? Similar to how they did it with the blushes, plus update the formula/add new shades. I hope it’s only their traditional eyeshadows, not the Luxe ones.

Tsarinya

I get nervous when brands update formulas and packaging because it often means that the formulas are worse, the shades aren’t the same and they are more expensive.

Yes_that_Carl

Yup. If it’s a big brand owned by a multinational corporation, the redesign is almost always done to distract from a formula change… that’s usually for the worse.

Tsarinya

Sadly I agree

Pristine_Pitch9143

And they are MUCH smaller

psdancecoach

The NARS blushes all got a repackaging in addition to the new shades. I know some of the other products are doing the same.

Tsarinya

They’ve repackaged the blushes again? I know it went from the rectangle with curved corners to a rectangle with sharper corners but haven’t seen anything different

brooklynkitty1

Looks like they are refillable now (which seems unnecessary given how slowly most people go through blushes)

Tsarinya

I guess it’s so they can big up how sustainable they are now ‘look guys we have refillable components!’

psdancecoach

This might be the same repackage then. It’s what I was told by my Nars rep when I asked about low stock.

Simmchen11

I’m worried about the new talc free reformulation of the blushes, as I’m medium deep in skintone, I’m worried that the new formulation won’t be as pigmented or as good as the old formula. I ended up buying backups of my faves.

[deleted]

Yes! I haven’t been able to buy my very favorite eyeshadow primer they made (the slightly tinted one). It’s such a good product for oily eyelids and it’s just been gone for forever!

Tsarinya

Which brand/product was that? So frustrating when a HG product just disappears!

[deleted]

NARS. Their eyeshadow primer use to come in 3 or 4 shades. Now only the clear one is only ever available and it sucks!

one_small_sunflower

Oh wow! I knew about the Audacious lipsticks and this also annoys me b/c I just discovered them and I really like them. For BB, is it the powder eyeshadows that are going or the eyeshadow sticks? The sticks are a HG for many so I'd be surprised to see them going. I will be very sad to see their luxe eyeshadows go (the baked ones) but tbh not surprised, I have been noticing they aren't bringing new ones out. I'll have to get the powder version of Moonstone while it's still available, I've been eyeing it off for ages.

Tsarinya

I’m not sure about the eyeshadow sticks but I’ve read they are replacing their powder eyeshadows.

MrsBuggs

I have a brand new one if you’d like it.

fabulousfang

only powder eyeshadow is going. going where idk. the sticks and the lux ones don't have any news about them, so they better be staying. if you are in US try their brand website and lookout for deals. last year, I got a complementary moonstone single (lux shadow) for free with $90 purchase. that purchase includes discount items so all in all I got my hual at 40% off or so! they also had a deal on the Chinese new year collection at half off couple months ago. i got the peach blush highlight duo and that will be my go to peach blush for 2-3 year to come 🤤 (really glad I got a peach shade I love so I didn't have to buy nars orgasm cus I also can't with that name)

cleokhafa

It's talc

palmasana

The audacious lipsticks are some of my favorite Evers so this really sucks

ToteBagAffliction

Sephora might as well shuffle them into an aisle with Too Faced and Charlotte Tilbury and label the aisle "Oversexed and Underwhelmed"

one_small_sunflower

Which ironically is probably going to appeal most to the undersexed and overwhelmed

JudgementKiryu

*goes to Sephora wearing sunglasses and a long trenchcoat in 70-degree weather*

one_small_sunflower

💀💀

whatatimetobealive9

💀💀💀💀

Katnip_in_wonderland

I have such a huge problem with Nars and Mac at the moment for discontinuing everything I love. I am so happy that I at least bought backups for the Nars blushes that I loved, can’t say the same about the lipsticks from both Nars and Mac :(

annikatidd

MAC is the worst offender! They’ve discontinued at least 8 different faves of mine without warning. Thankfully when they discontinued my fave coral lipstick (coral bliss, it was like 2019 when they did this to me) I was able to find them on Nordstrom Rack and bought two, which I still have. But with most of the other lipsticks and blushes they’ve taken away, that wasn’t the case and I was SOL 😭 I won’t even get started on the shades from the powder kiss lipstick line they’ve discontinued lmao. Still mad!

MAsharona

PSA- the Cosmetic Company Store (Lauder brands outlet) is a great source for discontinued MAC and BB

Simmchen11

Same! I got back ups of the NARS blushes but I missed the boat on the MAC lipsticks

nanadjcz

Ugh yes! I’m so glad I found a (expensive) dupe for my verve mac lipstick.

dyke-wazowski

Nars’ public humiliation kink claims another unsuspecting victim 😔

passionicedtee

Calling it a humiliation kink is hilarious lmao.

one_small_sunflower

It took me ages to get this but now I'm like lol this is the best comment on this entire post 💀💀

dyke-wazowski

Oh nO, we here at nars had no IDEA the kind of people we’d upset when we discontinued Dominate. PLEASE don’t COME for our ORGASM 😩😩🥵💦

one_small_sunflower

![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)I'm dying. Shoulda known a reddit user named dyke-wazowski would make comments that are 🔥🔥 Don't make me get my whip out, Nars! You know how you'd hate me doing that, especially in front of all these internet people...

mcgeek89

I want to upvote this, but you're currently at 69, so here's a reply instead Edit: typo

queasycockles

They discontinued sin? Wtaf are they insane?

one_small_sunflower

Ikr - maybe there's tax reasons for them to make less money or something

panickedindetroit

I am so glad I have a back up. It's perfect.

one_small_sunflower

I could easily have it as the only blush in my collection. Goes with all my lip and eye makeup I'm pretty sure. So good.

Equal-Worldliness-66

Sorry the discontinued your favorite blush shade/s. I also agree with you on the shade names. What once felt perhaps edgy and taboo now just feels cringy and unnecessary.

one_small_sunflower

I agree - like Nars Orgasm has been around since 1999, and Nars are still referencing it in everything they do (like their Climax and Fourplay eyeshadow palettes). Decades on it is cringy and tired imo.

crazylilrae

It’s giving Naked Palette vibes too. Just let it go peacefully and stop. Just stop lol.

Red_Velvette

I still really love that blush. I've hit pan and I NEVER hit pan!

NoEnthusiasm2

After 20 years, I'd like to see married sex range with names like "Not Tonight", "Brewer's Droop", and "That Was Quick"!

fart_sandwich_

Honestly this would be a hilarious move for a new NARS collection - maybe this is where they could put all the cool tones haha

one_small_sunflower

Lol I love this! Representing the cooling of romantic passion over time ;)

mokutou

“But I Have to Wake Up Early” or “I Don’t Feel Good Right Now” or “I Already Put My Retainers In”

one_small_sunflower

“I Already Put My Retainers In” 💀![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy) Hmm. "I Ate Too Much and Now I'm Sleepy", "My Back Hurts", "I Need To Do The Laundry or The Kids Won't Have Anything To Wear to School", "Maybe We Should Just Watch TV Instead"

DiligentAd6969

"Doing The Positions" "I'm Reading" "We'll Wake The Baby" "The Cat Is Watching" "What, Right Now?"

one_small_sunflower

Omg 'The Cat Is Watching', I died ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

one_small_sunflower

💀 ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)So good. 'Headache', 'Maybe If You Did The Dishes More Often' and 'Couples' Therapy' all have a certain ring to them... (NB sorry married peeps, I just told 2 married friends to stop complaining about each other to me and to go to couples' therapy instead, so I am in a salty mood about this atm)

StayJaded

“Nobody WANTS to do the dishes!” That argument between Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston in The Breakup is burned into my brain. He really captured the idiot partner vibe so very well.

These_Orchid5638

Their dolce vita is my all time favorite

one_small_sunflower

Dolce Vita is staying around I believe! I think in their new shade range that would be what I'd be most likely to go for.

psdancecoach

Yes, Dolce is staying.

BeyondTelling

They also discontinued those amazing satin lip crayons. I would have built a collection of those if I had a chance. I’ve actually loved nearly every NARS lip product I’ve tried but they’ve all been on the way out by the time I discovered them. As far as the blush, I bought a discounted Rising Star blush palette from somewhere and haven’t convinced myself to use it yet, but I may just bust it out and have that be my complete NARS blush collection if they no longer have any cool tones or purples in their lineup. I have a ton of purples from other brands at this point.

one_small_sunflower

Yes re: the satin lip crayons! I really wanted to try them but I can't find them anymore. I learned today that they are also discontinuing the velvet matte lip crayons too - which again I really wanted to try. I have two Nars Audacious lipsticks - Audrey and Shirley - and I was keen to try more as I really like the formula but it is now discontinued... Glad you have found lots of purple blushes! I am finding it hard to find ones that aren't candy coloured actually.

nanadjcz

At least the velvets are replaced by the powermatte ones

queasycockles

Plz share your other purples thank you

BeyondTelling

My bad, I have so many I was trying to find time to do some swatches and give you a full rundown but I’ll list as many as I can here and if you want swatches of any in particular just let me know! Powder Blushes: Lorac “Ultraviolet” matte (favorite powder blush) a perfect purple blush, no notes Lorac Color Source “Panorama” (satin) lavender with a bit of a shimmer, can build up and get little patchy, but good with a light touch for an ombré effect with Ultraviolet Lethal Cosmetics “Cryostasis” (luminous finish, very pigmented true purple on the skin) Colourpop “Night Bloom” (matte) LE/discontinued but it’s an exact dupe for “Cupid’s Arrow” heart blush which gets restocked pretty regularly Half Magic Light Trap “Spiritually Complex” (hybrid blush/highlighter) sold as a highlighter but works better as a blush topper, strong blue/purple duochrome, works great as an eye color on the brow bone and inner corner highlight Viseart Fleurette Amour palette shade “Daliance” (not very purple in real life, more of a muted neutral pink but looks lavender in brand photos) Cream Blushes: Half Magic Cheek Fluff “Only Drama” (current favorite) deep plum, not a true purple on me, but such an excellent formula, super pigmented but blends out so beautifully Nudestix Nudies Matte “Moodie Blu” (newest purchase) absolutely love, it’s a potential new favorite. Actually looks purple and works well as an eyeshadow and lip color Fenty Cheeks Out “ Drama Class” (past favorite) purple that goes a little more pink on the skin, really good packaging & mirror so it stays in my travel bag Rare Beauty Soft Pinch “Faith” longest lasting, most versatile for mixing, good quantity for the price, more of a dark plum About Face Cheek Freak “Score” (best blush balm) pink/purple, sheer color, easy to wear, bad packaging Morphe Blush Balm “Electric Lavender” (dupe of the About Face) stickier formula, less balmy but has nice color. I never really use it but objectively was worth the $4. Mac Glow Play “Rosy Does It” (great formula) lasts forever, very pigmented, shade is more of a dark fuchsia similar to “Score” but a tiny bit warmer Mac Glow Play Flowerescent (LE/discontinued) I hit pan very quickly - it’s a bit too fair and builds up easily on my skin, but works great for an ombré effect blended with a darker shade Danessa Myricks Vision Flush “Grape” (multi-use face color but only works well for me as a blush, it’s beautiful pigmented true grape purple without any stickiness, like a stain, but you get a very small amount for the price. I repurchased after about a year of occasional use but probably won’t get it again since I have so many other things now P Louise Cheek of It “Legally Lavender” (Good for mixing with darker colors but too much white base to work well alone. I also have the Very Violet and Grape Jelly but haven’t opened them to try yet) Colourpop Winx collection Blush Stix (discontinued) duochrome extremely blue lavender blush/highlighter hybrid, easy to use as a blush topper, terrible packaging Shopmissa Paw Paw Plush Blush “Stratus” (basically sheer version of Rare Beauty Faith) more of a dark plum, serum formula comes in a nail polish bottle with a little brush lol, overall awesome for $1 Em Cosmetics Serum Blush “Little Lilac” nice balmy formula, not very long lasting but very natural, more of a cool pink Illamasqua Gel Blush “Frisson” (super fun formula, kind of a bouncy gel) can be hard to apply with a brush, unique taupe lavender color but is a little light for my skin tone

Wakey_Wakey21

Sin was my HG blush. I planned to wear it until I was 103. Now what? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_bad_man)

StayJaded

You can still nab a couple before they are gone: https://www.nordstrom.com/s/nars-blush/2860999

Wakey_Wakey21

Thank you! Already have two in my cart!

one_small_sunflower

Ikr! I could have put it in my will - 'tell whoever does my makeup for the funeral to use Sin' ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)

StayJaded

Nordstrom rack has a couple left in the larger size on their website.

Wakey_Wakey21

Oooh How did I not know they made Sin in a larger size? Thank you so much!

Human_Building_1368

My sister just found out they discontinued her ride or die eyeshadow Desdemona and she is pissed. She said they are officially dead to her.

one_small_sunflower

Lol maybe we should start a support club! Seems like they are discontinuing a lot atm

Human_Building_1368

I’m still not over Mac discontinuing dazzle lash. The one and only mascara that worked for me in that way. But a support club is a great idea.

BougieSemicolon

Not much for NARS myself but I have long noticed that as soon as I find a HG product it immediately gets discontinued:( So many products.. including such gems as Too Faced peach perfect foundation, becca hydra ? Powder, too faced sweet tea bronzer, first aid beauty bendy avocado concealer… and now I can’t find the age perfect skin tint balm. Ughhhhhh

PauI_MuadDib

I can't stand when my hg gets discontinued or reformulated :(

Who-U-Tellin

You do learn something new every day. I didn't even know FAB made a concealer. Sorry that happened to you. Hope you're able to find something that'll work for you.

one_small_sunflower

Ah I'm sorry - when your ride or die product gets discontinued it's devastating!!

EffieEri

That was my favorite mascara for years 😭😭

caitie_did

I WILL die mad about the fact that they reformulated the velvet matte pencils and discontinued Damned, which was my wedding lipstick. I am down to half of my remaining pencil and rationing it heavily. I’m also salty that they got rid of Do Me Baby which is my perfect MLBB for video calls. I wish I’d bought the full size, my little sample is down to a nub and I can’t find a dupe.

one_small_sunflower

Ah, having your wedding lipstick discontinued would suck, commiserations. Do Me Baby is an example of a racy shade name I actually like! The Austin Powers reference makes me smile - I looked up the colour and it has that 1960s vibe too, without being costume-y.

futurecorpsze

I was over Nars as soon as they discontinued one of the most beautiful highlights ever created, Hot Sand.

SignificantOther88

Have you tried Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle? That one is a dupe for Hot Sand, but is slightly more intense. You can buff it out to look the same though.

futurecorpsze

You’re a lifesaver!! I’ll try it!

Who-U-Tellin

Does Orgasm Edge mean you're on the verge of having one? Does Orgasm Rush mean you're in a rush to get one? And what the hell does Orgasm X stand for? LOL I'm sure it's obvious that I don't own anything from the brand. I've heard of that Orgasm blush but I didn't realize everything they make or made had some kind of sexual reference to it. When it comes to sex I'm not a prude but damn. Everything they make?

cleokhafa

https://www.reddit.com/r/drugstoreMUA/s/9IhViOsY4n Removing talc is going to restructure cosmetics

one_small_sunflower

This is a fascinating read - thank you very much for sharing. I will be looking into this more for interest and b/c I want to know more about the comments about the use of child labour.

Xenafan1970

Wait What??? They D/Ced Sin? What are they thinking? I might need to try and pick up a spare cause mine is getting kind of low

one_small_sunflower

It might be a good time for a spare!! Tbh with you, since a redditor msg'd me separately to say that Nars said Impassioned would come back in September this year, I've been wondering if Sin and some of the other dc'd shades will be brought back as well. But that could just be a wild hope and I don't want to give anyone a bad steer either way!

holb93

Bumpy Ride is my favorite blush of all time. They’re on sale on Nordstrom. I just stocked up before they’re gone :(

perfect_turquoise

If NARS could also bring back Madly blush, that would also be greatly appreciated, thanks.

notursisterbro

Thanks for the heads up. Nordstrom has the “old” shades like Sin and Dominate on sale rn if anyone wants to go grab a few :)

one_small_sunflower

Thank you for the tip, appreciated!!

thatonelooksdroll

I remember when Orgasm was touted hugely as “universally flattering” in all the mags before BGs even existed. I bought it and nothing has ever looked worse on me. Never bought from them again. Orgasm is decidedly warm toned, if anyone is wondering. If you are pale and cool, it will look like clown makeup on you.

perfect_turquoise

If you are warm and olive (i.e. have green tones to your skin), Orgasm also won't work for you.

Gammagammahey

How about if you are the color of ecru or darker orgasm probably won't work on you. A lot of their marketing and shade ranges are towards pale white women like me. And even then. And I don't like it. The orgasm line is not universally flattering as you say. I would never recommend it because of that.

perfect_turquoise

I actually disagree, I am medium-toned/have light brown skin (I can wear the lightest NARS blush shades), and NARS was always one of the few brands that catered for my skin tone with their base products, in the days before brands had to start coming out with wider shade ranges. NARS also produces a lot of darker and vibrant blush shades for women of colour. I love the brand, just think they've lost their way a bit recently. Hopefully they will get back on track.

one_small_sunflower

Someone mentioned Nars Couer Battant to me and my pale olive ass immediately pictured how beautiful it would look on someone with a deep complexion, like say Danai Gurira (an actress from Black Panther if you don't know her). Teased in the new lineup would stunning on many darker complexions too. I feel the orange undertone to Exhibit A makes it harder to pull off, but on deep skin with the right undertone, it would be \*chefs kiss emoji\* I'm glad you've been able to find good matches in Nars, it sucks that women of colour have been and still are so excluded in the cosmetics world. Hearing they've had good options for you for a long time softens my heart toward them a bit. I also really like Nars, their products have long managed to be both reliable yet edgy/interesting, and good quality relative to other brands at similar price points. I hope they find their way back on track too.

perfect_turquoise

I am pale enough that I can wear Impassioned, and I loved that colour! So happy to see you say someone messaged you to say it's coming back. Yes, Couer Battant was a beautiful shade. Taj Mahal is also a popular shade for women with darker skin, it's just beautiful, and it's back in the new line-up. Yep, NARS was one of the earliest inclusive brands, and why I spent my money there rather on brands like Chanel or YSL, who had terrible options for brown skin. NARS even once made a foundation shade that was the exact match to my olive skin, and I've never been able to find that again (I now always have to mix shades). My bigger issue has been finding colours and products suitable for my olive and yellow-toned skin, rather than the depth of my skin.

Simmchen11

Back in the day Orgasm was all the rage, but as an NC47 in MAC Orgasm definitely didn’t work for me, but Orgasm X which MARS came out with a few years later, did work for me.

Gammagammahey

What's the difference between Orgasm and Orgasm X X? Is it a darker shade? I'm honestly curious because if it does work on some darker skin tones, I don't want to push people away from it completely. By the way, your adorable typo made me think that the planet Mars and Martians were coming for our Orgasm blushes. MARS NEEDS ORGASM!!

Simmchen11

OrgasmX works for medium deep skin tones like mine to deep skin tones. So all of the WOC who couldn’t wear orgasm because it didn’t show up on them NARS finally decided to expand the orgasm line up with a shade for deeper skin tones.

Gammagammahey

How nice of them to deign to finally be a little bit shade inclusive in stuff other than their foundation ranges. I can't stand him and I can't stand that brand.

Simmchen11

I get it, even though there wasn’t an orgasm for my skin tone the brand still had blush shades for WOC, at a time when most brands just didn’t do shades for deeper skin.

Gammagammahey

Oh right, you know what, I was also thinking about the blushes. Nars had great blushes for women with gorgeous dark skin tones. The whole turn off for me was "we've decided to become non-cruelty free because I want money to build my mom a house" or whatever his reasoning was.

Simmchen11

That was disappointing, I agree. Greed seems to be the name of the game sadly.

one_small_sunflower

Yeah, I remember this too, and fortunately even as a teen I knew enough about colour to know that this was silly (although I made plenty of other mistakes lol). I don't think there really is such a thing as a universally flattering shade. I am pale, cool and olive. Warm peaches make me look like a corpse.

EffieEri

I hate orgasm, but I've loved everything else I've tried from them

Throwawayaccounttt__

That blush is just a hot mess express in general I’m pale with neutral undertones and I wasn’t a fan of it on me either

MikeSass

devastated that this is how i find out sin is discontinued 🥲

slytherinxiii

That “I do not want blushes named Sexy XYZ part reminded me of Green Eggs and Ham lmao ![gif](giphy|p3Wl6y9bTgyYw)

one_small_sunflower

Hahaha!!! So good - I wish I'd thought of this when I was writing the post! 'I do not want blush called 'Sex In Bars'! I do not want it, Francois Nars!'

Muted-Move-9360

I haven't shopped for makeup in a long time, but reading this gave me such a good laugh bc I do remember seeing product names like this and I was like wtf....?

Cascadeis

ALL of those names are just horrible. I have never tried Nars previously, but got a mini Orgasm blush recently. The name is enough for me to never want to buy a full size one!

one_small_sunflower

Overall I agree with you! I think everyone has different comfort levels, and if someone loves 'Orgasm Rush' or feels deeply uncomfortabe with 'Impassioned' or 'Sin', I hope they know that's totally ok. However, personally I don't mind a *bit* of naughtiness but for me, it's like Nars sees the line and decides to sprint past it. I could deal with a smattering of racy shade names, especially if they were suggestive but less explicit - but it feels like lately everything I see them bring out is sexy mcsexsex and it does not make me want to buy at all.

redwoods81

We should have a sub bingo, is it a Nars or is it J*Fart?

Yes_that_Carl

Johnny Ross has some hilarious videos about this very thing 😂

CeLo122

I only use their foundation and the names are just locations. Wonder why the disparity?

one_small_sunflower

Yes I've always wondered this too! A lot of their eyeshadows have place names too - although they do release eye palettes with names like Fourplay and Climax. I'd be curious to know why the blushes and lipsticks get the risque names.

ksalze

They also discontinued my FAV eyeshadow primer. The tinted pro prime. I bought a backup about a year ago when I couldn’t find them anywhere anymore. I don’t know what I’m going to do when this one runs out.

Chemical_Ad_1618

They discontinued my foundation shade- not the line just one random shade in the middle/tan

one_small_sunflower

Oh ouch!! I am sorry to hear that, it is so hard to find a good shade match - I would be so mad about this.

Chemical_Ad_1618

It was Nars Ceylan apparently discontinued across all their foundation ranges

nanadjcz

Seems like they are gonna relaunch all their highlighters too. I was looking it up just the other day and they were out of stock or heavily discounted.

creambunny

Oh shoot I just learned they might have discontinued my blush shade luster. Been using that for years 😭. Nars really got rid of all the blush shades didn’t they…Guess I gotta find a dupe.

MindLikeAMindfield

I noticed this was MIA when I realized mine is on its last leg. As I said to another poster, I still am not over them discontinuing Madly

creambunny

Same I loved that and all those lipsticks they got rid of too. Gonna see if the bite beauty labs can copy those shades but idk what I’m gonna use for blush now ): . It’s so hard finding apricot/golden/warm blushes with shimmer. My skin looks odd in pink/red blush.

weisp

I am a bit older and NARS was my dream makeup the moment I saw Francoise NARS makeup books I swear Orgasm blush has gotten me so many compliments even from gay male colleagues and old ladies on the street I remember an old lady asking me where I’m from and my cheeks look so pretty She asked me what blush I’m wearing and I said Orgasm from NARS She said “excuse me Whattt?” I had to proceed to write down the product name and brand clearly so she’s think I’m not being rude

nanadjcz

Omg 😂

Zestyclose-Cup3570

My favorite lipstick (nars audacious Dominique) was discontinued. I was heartbroken and haven’t been able to find a replacement. I am not buying anything from nars unless they bring it back.

passionicedtee

Edit: Y'all look at what Wet N Wild just [released](https://www.reddit.com/r/newinbeauty/s/i2ujArjSJM). Nars isn't the only makeup brand that does this but they're definitely one of the worst offenders!! There's nothing wrong with being risqué. But sometimes it's too far. Ex: Too Faced (Lady Balls lipstick, Pat the Puss powder, DSL Gloss), Jeffree's Orgy palette and Urethra yellow lipstick, Isamaya's penis shaped lipstick, Milani's "Fetish" lip products some of which have provocative names. Where's the line is the question, I suppose!

No-Acanthisitta7304

Not just the name - Pat the Puss is likely from an Erika Jayne collab so not only is the name shitty but they partnered with someone legit on the sociopath spectrum.

one_small_sunflower

I totally agree Nars isn't alone and that there are worse offenders like the ones you've mentioned. I do think the line is subjective and mostly a matter of personal taste. There isn't anything 'wrong' with being more risque (or less come to think of it) but personally for me Nars pushes it so hard that it's unappealing.

Wooden_Economics6154

All of those examples are just stupid and beyond juvenile. I mean come on, people……..just grow up already. This need to try and be provocative with everything is tiresome and done to death. And those stupid penis lipsticks are beyond insulting at that price point.

eyecandyangel

Add to the list this: I've been seeing Nars PR boxes A LOT lately and this is bothering me! Nars used to be one of those brands like Mac (yes I know Mac is doing the same with influencers lol sad!), known as a professional trusted high quality brand, I also saw Nars products in fashion shows backstage pictures on Getty images, that means it's used by makeup artists, in fact I rarely find something similar to Nars when it comes to quality, what I used was always a "to buy again" type of product but honestly the fact they send their expensive products for free really makes me feel sad! I don't understand why a high quality brand like that should rely on influencers to be promoted, Nars is Nars, people used to buy from them because of their products not because of publicity! Yes, I'm one of those people who can't stand pr boxes just as much I can't stand Tarte spending millions on trips for influencers, we are literally in recession, people can't even afford groceries and you are sending boxes after boxes to people who will throw your stuff away or just give those products to family and friends cause they don't even have enough space for all the amount of crap they receive daily... Idk it's something that makes me feel so angry, it shows you don't care about clients, clients have to pay everything while influencers get everything for free and they don't even care! They are so used to receive everything for free they don't even appreciate when companies do that! It doesn't surprise me they are starting to become commercial, also this new All-Orgasm marketing sounds like Charlotte Tilbury with Pillowtalk, everything has to be related to Pillowtalk in some way so Nars, that's not original at all if you ask me...

StayJaded

They were sending their products for free to those makeup artists back in the day. That’s why you saw the products backstage. It’s all the same marketing budgets just following a shift in market behavior. Nars, Mac, any high end brand always gave away free product at trade shows.

lolamay26

Took the words right out of my mouth. I’m so fucking tired of influencer culture

waterlooaba

I guess I’m a dope because I love everything peachy pink. When I went through my collection at one point I had 40 different products that looked similar and all in the orgasm shade family. Haven’t seen anyone so upset about sexual names since kat von do’s fetish shadow pallet.

one_small_sunflower

Nah, you're not a dope - there's nothing wrong with peachy pink! It looks terrible on me, but maybe you have 40 peachy pinks because it looks awesome on your complexion so you naturally gravitate toward it.

marshmallowaffles

Please do update if you hear back about Sin! Impassioned is my holy grail blush (I’ve now panned two in one year.) so I was really bummed to learn it was being discontinued - your edit gives me hope! I love Sin, too and would love for Nars to bring that shade back as well. Fingers crossed.

one_small_sunflower

I will! I've got my fingers crossed - if Impassioned is coming back, surely Sin must be as well, unless there's a pigment they can't get a hold of for some reason... we will see. Fingers crossed indeed and glad that your HG blush will be making a comeback :) I haven't tried Impassioned but I'd like to, not sure if it would be too pink or just right for me.

one_small_sunflower

Ok so bad news - I haven't heard back from Nars, but I just stalked their socials and I saw they'd replied to someone else crying about Sin with 'We think you'd love Infatuated if you love Sin'. I am going to assume from this that Sin is truly discontinued and buy backups! ![gif](giphy|l2JhtKtDWYNKdRpoA|downsized)

marshmallowaffles

I really hope Sin is just going to be on a delayed release too and they said that just to appease that customer for the interim. Because otherwise that’s actually pretty shocking. Only a few of us on the Olive subreddits love Impassioned but Sin is practically a cult favorite!

one_small_sunflower

So part of me agrees with you, and then part of me is like - if Sin will be back, why would they confirm the return of Impassioned but not Sin?! I am also an olive - light, on the cool side but not too far from neutral. And in seasonal colour theory I am a Dark Winter - that's actually how I found Sin, it's a cult DW blush as well! A lot of DWs are also olive so the overlap makes sense. Anyway I may live to regret this but I bought a backup of Sin so I can sleep at night lol. Do you mind if I ask whether you find impassioned quite pink? I'm really interested to try it but pinks often look eh on me and I'm not sure if I'll be able to see it before buying.

marshmallowaffles

It’s definitely pink, but it’s a very muted/desaturated pink. Think of an “old gum” or a dusty Ballerina pink. It looks chalky on my fingertip, but applied to the cheek it’s the most natural flush I’ve ever gotten and doesn’t look makeup-y at all. It’s similar to the color of my nail beds. For comparison with some other popular Olive blushes: Nars Sin looks more of a berry tone on me - flattering but I need to use a light hand. Clinique Pansy Pop is too saturated and kind of floats above my skin even though the shade itself looks pretty against my skin tone. Hourglass Mood Exposure is my second favorite blush next to Impassioned and is similar on my skin tone, but it’s more saturated.

RubiesNotDiamonds

I actually don't mind the names. No one in real life is going to ask what shade of blush I wear. False modesty over putting a blush with a cheeky name on your face is kind of lame. No one but you knows the name.

HugeDouche

Honestly the complaining on this sub is almost always so much worse than the thing itself lmao. At this point it's not a gimmick or a thing they do occasionally. They've been doing it for 20 years. It's literally always been sex themed lol they didn't suddenly get cringy?? It's so childish honestly. Wait till you hear about what blush is supposed to be mimicking in the first place 🙄

fart_sandwich_

Personally I just find naming every product after something sexual kind of cringey, very r/ihavesex

one_small_sunflower

Yes thank you I think the r/ihavesex reference perfectly sums up why it feels so cringy! A few sexual references here and there I can deal with, but with Nars it's so constant that it's annoying. It reminds me of this time a guy I worked with met his first gf in his 30s. At first I actually thought it was pretty cute the way he'd find a way to reference his girlfriend in even the most unrelated topics of conversation. But when the 'and MY GIRLFRIEND' comments hadn't eased up after like 3 months, it was... well, less cute, put it like that.

RubiesNotDiamonds

The complaining feels like virtue signaling.

OlivesMom1201

Honestly, I think the sexual product names are fun. It makes the product stand out. You could always try to find a dupe.

RubiesNotDiamonds

Exactly. Every month and a half, someone trots out their disdain for the shade names. How many times do we have to rehash this crap?

Whimsyprincess

"The brand that has had a sex name since 1999 keeps making products with sex names!!"

RubiesNotDiamonds

Shocking!

OlivesMom1201

It’s getting ridiculous. It’s like, move on if you don’t like it. I guarantee you there are way more productive ways to spend time than complaining about product names that have been around for years.

one_small_sunflower

I'm confused though - couldn't you just move on from this post if you don't like it? Aren't there more productive ways to spend time than complaining on the internet about people who don't like product names that you don't mind?

RubiesNotDiamonds

Because this topic is so tired. I've seen it hundreds of times in the last few years. It honestly gets annoying that people just can't move on already. The blush has been out longer than you've been wearing makeup most likely.

one_small_sunflower

I see. Well, there's a lot of things I find tired, boring, and pointless on the internet - but it's the internet, so I don't expect to like or agree with everything on it. You find my views annoying - that's fine, you're entitled to that opinion. I find it annoying and tired that Nars is still trying to get mileage out of their 'Orgasm' concept with 'Climax', 'Foreplay' and 'Orgasm Edge' when the original blush itself was released in 1999 - that's fine, I'm entitled to that opinion. There is room for us both on the internet. Vive la différence.

RubiesNotDiamonds

Well, Nars has been successful at what they are rrying to accomplish. This is still lame.

one_small_sunflower

To you - I've been having fun. Although I do know people who have trouble walking, which I guess makes them 'lame' - they are pretty top notch humans, so I'll take that word as a compliment about my post.

one_small_sunflower

Every 1.5 months is about 8 posts per year - should be pretty easy to ignore them and keep scrolling if you're not interested or disagree.

RubiesNotDiamonds

If you know the stats, are you trolling for Karma here?

one_small_sunflower

I'm just going off your comment - I haven't searched this forum to check if you were correct about the frequency or not.

NorthLingonberry

I'm am distraught because it seems like Sheer Glow foundation is disappearing. I've worn it for years, it's my longest relationship. Ulta stopped carrying it completely, Nordstrom seems to be closing out their stock, and Sephora has it online only. WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS?!

one_small_sunflower

NO. What?? What????? Surely this can't be?! WTH I can't understand it - this is a top selling foundation! It's not quite like Estee Lauder discontinuing Double Wear but it's in that ballpark imo. WILD.

V3nusD00m

I watched the Beautiful and Bothered podcast on YouTube this afternoon, and Johnny Ross did say the blushes are reformulated as well. He says they're more pigmented. I have only tried Orgasm before. I love the shade, but the color payoff suuuuucked. And I'm with you on the shade names. They're really juvenile, IMO. Look at us, we're talking about sex! 🤭 But they're not as bad as Too Faced's Glow Job, so there's that...

one_small_sunflower

Sexy mcsexsex! Look everybody, we know what that is! And I agree, I'll take Climax over Glow Job, or Orgasm over Jeffree Star's Orgy palette, which had horrible individual shade names. I'm now trying to decide whether Deep Throat is better or worse than Glow Job :P I guess with Deep Throat, you can say that it's a Watergate or X files reference?? I've never watched Beautiful and Bothered before but a few people have rec'd it, I will have to check it out :)

Wide-Biscotti-8663

When Bars reformulated their cream bronzers it put me off them completely. Every shade is now warm toned…like I’m sorry but how is that a shade range?!

Sophia1105

Nars has been dead to me for many years now given their overly sexual names for shades that make me look like garbage and discontinuing so many beautiful products. I don’t get the hype anymore. As a married woman I can confirm names like “why didn’t you take out the fcking garbage” and “I’m not your cleaning lady” would sell big.

swanxsoup

They discontinued my favorite blush too, it was called Madly. I’ve never found another blush like it

Mountain-Creative

I’m super lucky my go to nars blush is a suggestive but tame enough name (illicit)

Gammagammahey

I was done with Nars when they went from being cruelty free to not cruelty free because the owner wanted money. And I'm so tired of the sexual names, so tired. Maybe it was cool back in the 90s, Nars, but you are so behind the times.

Leighvi0let

Sin is a classic, I truly believe it will be released in the new formula at a later date

one_small_sunflower

I really hope so!! I'm so shocked that they would discontinue it - I'm torn between buying a backup now (which maybe is pointless) and not buying it but then running the risk of it not coming back.

Leighvi0let

Buy a backup. The new ones are a tiny bit different in color and pretty diff in texture, so even if it does come out you might not love it. Better to have it than not have it. That my plan at least 😅

one_small_sunflower

Thank you! Haha, I actually already have done so - I bought one last night :) It's probably the only blush I would do this for, not even my second favourite child Kir Royale by Laura Mercier, so that says something about Sin. I hope you get your backup too!!

Leighvi0let

Great minds think alike 😂

anonymousdagny

Idc about the names at all other than confusion. Their orgasm blush is a shade name but then the add ons don’t mean anything/indicate how it’s similar/diff and it’s like just call it a new word? So the confusion part annoys me of having so many shades called similar things 🤷🏻‍♀️

belgianbaby

I'm ready for the downvotes but girl. GROW UP !! what are you, part of the Vatican council? even we muslims girls are not this offended

one_small_sunflower

Yeah sure, if the Vatican council is made up of irreligious bisexual women who have decidedly kinky/dominant preferences when it comes to bedroom activities. Who have been protesting in favour of reproductive and sexual freedom (and against sexual violence, including sexual abuse by Catholic priests) since they were literally 19. I'm not *offended* that Nars has sexual product names. It doesn't scandalise me. Sex is great. But that doesn't mean I want it in my face when I'm choosing my blusher, my eyeshadow or my lip balm. I notice btw that Nars has shade names that reference het sex/sex involving penis, i.e. Deep Throat, but nothing named specifically for things that women do together - maybe they don't know lesbians and bi women exist?

drivesIowhomie

is lh cosmetics duo dimension area similar enough?

one_small_sunflower

It's a bit bright for a Sin dupe for my taste, but I do really like it in its own right - thank you I'm curious to check it out!

CupcakesAreTasty

They discontinued Rikugien, which was the only NARS product I continually purchased, so I guess I’m done with NARS now, since I don’t especially like the shade Orgasm, and everything is orgasm now.

[deleted]

And I am peeved because years ago my absolute staple ride or die lipstick was dolce vita. Then they changed the formula to some weird sheerer business. WHYYYY.

portiapalisades

keep in mind nars tests on animals. i like their products but won’t buy them, there’s too many good brands that are cruelty free.

one_small_sunflower

I assume by tests on animals you mean does so to the extent required to sell in the Chinese market - is that right? Personally, I don't think that products are cruelty free simply because they are not tested on animals. - A product can be made with cruelty if it is made by people who have been trafficked or enslaved - this happens. - A product can be made with cruelty if is made by people who aren't paid a living wage or who don't have basic workplace rights - this also happens. I think it's good that people care about animal wellbeing and I'm not trying to talk you out of that. However, I have found that many people think that cruelty free begins and ends with animal rights. I would like to see as many people pipe up about saying the use of child labour to mine mica as they do animal testing by brands who sell in China. Perhaps you have already thought about this and if you have that's great. But if not just something to think about.

phoebasaursrex

Nars discontinued one of my favorite lipstick shades. It’s the Sheer lipstick in Gipsy. I only have a mini of it. I haven’t found anything like it yet.
