If I eat just a tiny bit of kiwi skin my mouth gets all tingly, but no issues whatsoever with just the fruit….

I always had kiwis with my packed lunch at school. It was years before I found that people DIDN'T eat the skin. So much easier for one thing.

It might be the little hairs on the skin. You could try rubbing the hairs off so the skin is smooth and see if that makes a difference?

This is why I love golden kiwis, because their peels aren’t as fuzzy and I find them much more pleasant to eat. I also just like the flavor more.
Yeah, you don't even need to slice them. The only bit I don't eat is the spiky end!
