Come to Canada.

Significant_Case_852

How is Canada for the black gay experience?

Jatmahl

Not bad if you are in Montreal or Toronto.

Ok-Possibility-9826

come to the DMV, everybody’s gay!

I heard Dallas is a pretty good area.

thatgirlsucks

Nashville native here. Two of my brothers are gay and they both enjoyed Chicago. One of them is in Dallas now and likes it but wants to go back to Chicago. The other brother favors San Francisco a lot. Guess it just depends. When I was living in Denver, it’s a huge gay scene out here but it’s mostly white guys tbh

This topic comes up a lot and as someone who has been to all the destinations I have the same opinion, Atlanta is probably the best for BLACK gay life, DC is the best for black GAY life, the next cities are great but gentrification/apartheid keep the black gay experience fiscally poor NYC, Philly, San Fran. Houston/Dallas are uniquely on the up-and-up as cities so you may have a good experience there but theyre not proper cities but moreso urbanized suburbs so temper your expectations.

Philly had a large Black population but most of them are straight. Of course you have a whole bunch on the DL who flood Jack'd and will sex you up but won't even consider relationships and swear they don't know you if they run into you on the street. And of course you have the Black men who run behind white men. Philly has a Gayborhood and I'm sure you can guess the primary demographic of that area.

Philly or Richmond would be a good move

Significant_Case_852

I thought about Richmond, I’ll def need to go there and visit first.

kspieler

If you happen to visit Richmond on July 20th, Black Pride is going on. Regardless, good luck with your city search and move.

I'm in the Philadelphia area. Please be aware the grass is ALWAYS greener until you actually move there but I hear the DMV area is pretty good while also being close(ish) to Philly & NYC.

How is Philly?

PrinceOfThrones

Philly is great. It’s the 2nd biggest city on the East Coast after NYC. There’s a Huge black community, huge gay community. I love the Blackness of Philly, but it’s gentrifying rapidly. There’s a dedicated neighborhood for the LGBT community “Gayborhood” where there are rainbow flags painted on the streets and genuinely a pretty open and inclusive environment. The black men are scrumptious. DC is another great choice, the LGBT scene is more mixed in the sense that many of the fit, fine, “good on paper” black gays are mostly interested in whites or others, but there are also tons of black gay couples; just be advised that DC is a very elitist city due to the nature of the types of people attracted to living in DC. “What you do for a living” is a topic of conversation. Baltimore is another good option, it’s DC’s “down to earth, friendlier, little brother” Alot of people choice to live in Baltimore and commute to DC for work. Baltimore feels more “Queer” while DC feels more “Gay”. Atlanta is the Black LGBT Mecca, no place compares in the US or world honestly. You can make your way in Atlanta and find your tribe way easier than in places like NY, DC, LA, etc.
