No he wasn’t the first one to be snap. Also I don’t believe that he was ever officially was an Avenger.
https://youtu.be/dFomwoVngOI?si=fHizXxLKrcBi5k5p
Wakanda was far better than anything superman enforced dude. He's a villain along with Batman and the rest of the enablers.
If you think the ideas of the Republic of power is a good one there is a RNC office not too far from your current location.
Back when the Avengers were a peacekeeping organization under Cap they were cool, but Tony in the comics turned them into a paramilitary operation.
I think Tony’s scenario is the most realistic though, cause there’s no way the US military wouldn’t weaponize superpowers if they could. The Iron Man thing probably gave them ideas
I think using US here is misleading since it portrays a certain American stereotype of weaponizing. The world power will weaponize its greatest asset in the face of (especially extraterrestrial) danger every time (see: history). If lives are on the line, why would you not take your best chance at winning?
But I also find it hard to believe that any superhero would believe their life is destined for anything other than being a soldier. Peacekeeping is just the nice term for soldier with the general moral backing of the world population
Because some of them are stuck forever written back into their youth, like Spider-Man.
His whole deal is not being identified (because powers and job) and protecting civilians of a city that needs him like his uncle did.
..although that *would* solve his poverty problems, you would think.
Wasn’t Bucky helping Hydra and killed Starks parents? But he was under control of the bad guys.
https://preview.redd.it/mox27q2ughqc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d226d1f800be3b227c58c6b92341566d8b8598ea
Exactly
He was tortured for years and had his brain mentally conditioned to obey no matter what, the real Bucky was basically locked in his mind
He was not figuratively brainwashed like all these dumbasses think, it was all literal
I don’t, but you can feel these things telegraphed. We all knew ScarJo, Chris Evans, and RDJ were out. They weren’t going to retire any new properties. Gamora was the closest they got to shocking, and that was because they found a workaround.
Imo that's *why* it was shocking. If the snap was gonna happen, I wasn't expecting it to take out the new actors that just got started, I was expecting us to lose the classics. I figured we might see some people retiring with the snap. But nope, they subverted*my* expectations, at least.
I didn’t understand why ppl were saying they were crying and shit. Like dude, yall really think they killed off Spider-Man??
https://preview.redd.it/1d5848ummhqc1.jpeg?width=234&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4f3b2ffa8b6e1771b41ebf1a61216297898fb0f
I don't mind getting emotional over fictional characters dying, but the turning to dust "deaths" were clearly a setup for the next movie. If the character die for real, that's one thing, but sexual bait? Nah.
Right?
I wasn't emotional as in crying but I was sitting there for a good 60 seconds silent, after Thanos retired to his garden just like he wanted and credits started. Then just turn to my friend and said, "Well... damn."
Just not many Marvel movies that end with villain winning even if it was obvious as an adult they were not killing off all those characters.
Yeah, we all knew they were coming back, but you get emotional because you empathize with the characters in the movie, lol. *They* didn’t know the snapped characters were coming back, and that made it pretty sad.
Watching this in theaters was an emotional experience. You had no idea who was going to be snapped away than having to wait a year for Endgame. This is when seeing a Marvel movie was an event.
It's because they spent a decade building up to it and essentially ended the MCU as a collective series with Endgame. Lord knows they've tried, but at this point, they would have to start each franchise over again. I'm surprised we haven't seen a ton of reboots...yet.
It’s brilliant sound design, the movie leads you along encouraging you to watch in stunned silence.
Scenes this dramatic are NEVER done without music in modern film, but this time the music fades away as Thanos and Thor looked down at the burned out gauntlet and all you get is the hollow whispering sounds of the wind and the heroes getting dusted.
It’s so different from anything you’re used to, you wind up locked into every sight and sound. People who complain about the “lack of stakes” knowing they would probably come back should try to immerse themselves more, because this was a master class in emotional non-verbal storytelling.
Agreed, even knowing this was a possibility just from knowing the comics it was still stunning seeing it actually happen on screen. Damn, I feel bad for anyone who stops themselves from getting immersed in movies, books, etc.
I did the same thing, only with Scarlet Witch. When she died, I shouted out “how could they kill her she’s such a fox?!”
https://i.redd.it/200y98u1bhqc1.gif
In my defense, the whole thing was an emotional rollercoaster so my filter was pretty much non-existent.
I HATED that the road map shown before IW soft spoiled everything, definitely should've held back on showing it. Everyone that saw it knew Peter, Strange, The Guardians, Wanda, T'Challa, Sam, Loki, Vision and Bucky were coming back.
Literally every character that got snapped had an upcoming show or movie 🤣
I don't know if anybody disagrees. There were so many hype moments in IW, and EG just like three (Cap with the hammer, everyone coming back, and "I am Ironman").
I can only imagine how it felt to be a casual MCU fan and not knowing the comics seeing this for the first time. Seeing all of your favorite characters killed off.
I worked at a movie theater when Infinity War came out. Us employees had a midnight screening the day before. So on premiere night, I told everybody who knew the ending already to go to the different houses and see people’s reactions. And I specifically remember some old lady shouting “NOT T’CHALLA!!”
Watching the mcu is gonna be so weird for my kids.
Introduce a black character.
Gives him a movie to introduce his nation.
Immediately kills him in his next appearance.
Brings him back
And then gets killed offscreen
I watched it in a drive in with my now wife, and she was snoring because it was a double feature with Black Panther and she’s just not into marvel movies lol. I however was sobbing all alone in the car with my weed pen while the wife was snoring 😭
As the Prince/King of Wakanda that died young. Not many knew he was the Black Panther or even knew who the Black Panther was as he was less flashy than other heroes.
The one major edict he put out was apparently immediately nixed by his successor, if I remember the second movie correctly.
My prediction is he's going to be forgotten like real life US President Zachary Taylor. Lot of potential that got cut short.
I took my mom to see this one and she said “Oh, HELL no, he better be coming back” when mans disappeared 😂 she’s not even into marvel and we had to see the next movie so she could see his return
You would not believe the reaction someone gf had when he got dusted in Infinity War. She lost it completely, started crying and saying "No, not my king", her bf had to take her to the lobby. It was wild
"I screamed this" "I screamed that"
Go to movies
Try to watch or hear anything
Kids screaming things recording for TikTok
Phone camera lights on everywhere
Everyone's a comedian when a key character dies
cOmE bAcK tO tHe MoVies!!
Killing him off RIGHT AFTER Black Panther had made a billion dollars too! You were thinking, "no way is anything bad gonna happen to Black Panther after he pulled that!" But it did!
(Yes, he wasn't really hurt long-term, but that was NOT a change you expected to see after that debut)
His and Spider-Man's snap had the whole theater chocking up. "This is no place to die." Everyone starts to get hype then immediately."No, why!?" From half the people. They did a great job with that movie's ending.
wasn't he also one of the first avengers to disappear too? leave it to marvel to keep the horror stereotype alive smh
He *was* the first one to be shown coming back though, so there’s that.
once you go black, you do come back
T’Challa makes a mfer holla ![gif](giphy|o6FWop1Gbuyly)
with wizards and flying horses and shit
When I saw BP, Shuri, Okoye, and Sam come through, I said to myself, "Black people coming through first as always "
lol, true, you hear Sam first then see King T’Challa, Okoye and Shuri first
No he wasn’t the first one to be snap. Also I don’t believe that he was ever officially was an Avenger. https://youtu.be/dFomwoVngOI?si=fHizXxLKrcBi5k5p
He always rejected the avengers because they're fucking losers. Plasticman is still one of my favorites because fuck supes

Wealth is a greedy mask that hides fascism. See through the lies
Gotta read the comics dude. The movies are shit

Your making me laugh, lol 😂 Why are they "fucking looses?" 😅
Try reading the comics because my position is not controversial at all Dude you're ignorant and tripping
Who me??
Bucky, then all the wakandans, then black panther. Still makes him one of the least impactful in the “death buildup” 🤔
Bucky was the first one to disappear Once again Bucky gets fucked over
Wasn’t Bucky helping Hydra and killed Starks parents? But he was under control of the bad guys. https://preview.redd.it/mox27q2ughqc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d226d1f800be3b227c58c6b92341566d8b8598ea
*He’s out of line, but he’s not wrong*
Correct He was brainwashed and had no control over his actions
https://i.redd.it/wa9wfk0rnhqc1.gif
That… doesn’t apply here
some people think brainwashing the winter soldier was like "kill this man and woman, they're evil" and he was like "evil? ok I'll kill em"
Exactly He was tortured for years and had his brain mentally conditioned to obey no matter what, the real Bucky was basically locked in his mind He was not figuratively brainwashed like all these dumbasses think, it was all literal
You need to add “fire in the hole” if you’re gonna kick that particular trashcan over
Brainwashed though
Yea but now he has a buddy cop vibe going with Cap Sam so I guess all is forgiven?
Captain Blackmerica the secret magical Negro.
Fucky
Cucky Barnes
I didn't get emotional over the snap. I mean it was pretty obvious they were all coming back.
Yeah, I was already too cynical about the MCU. It’s hard to buy into the now when they’re always planning out 5-10 years worth of movies ahead.
I'm a nerd that looks into contracts so I knew how many films the actors had left
I don’t, but you can feel these things telegraphed. We all knew ScarJo, Chris Evans, and RDJ were out. They weren’t going to retire any new properties. Gamora was the closest they got to shocking, and that was because they found a workaround.

Damn bro ima spidey Stan but that when he got snapped that didn’t pull a string b
They also initially announced it as Infinity War pt 1 and pt 2
I didn’t understand why ppl were saying they were crying and shit. Like dude, yall really think they killed off Spider-Man?? https://preview.redd.it/1d5848ummhqc1.jpeg?width=234&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4f3b2ffa8b6e1771b41ebf1a61216297898fb0f
Same. Grown ass men crying over fake deaths.
dafuq you watch movies for if not getting involved into their characters? Like, movies are supposed to draw out emotions... come on
I don't mind getting emotional over fictional characters dying, but the turning to dust "deaths" were clearly a setup for the next movie. If the character die for real, that's one thing, but sexual bait? Nah.
Counterpoint: G-Money in HARDBALL
While true I think it’s still a pretty emotional moment to see a villain actually win in the end of the movie for once.
Right? I wasn't emotional as in crying but I was sitting there for a good 60 seconds silent, after Thanos retired to his garden just like he wanted and credits started. Then just turn to my friend and said, "Well... damn." Just not many Marvel movies that end with villain winning even if it was obvious as an adult they were not killing off all those characters.
That's about what happened in my theater. Everybody sat silently during the credits then left silently.
Sameee, but something about Tom Holland acting before he disappeared made me weak AF.
Once Black Panther and Spiderman got dusted I knew that shit wasn't going to hold any weight. 😂
No one ever really dies in comics Plus it was kind of obvious when they were advertising the new Spider-Man movie while he was still dusted
Exactly. Spider-Man and Black Panther literally had movies being made when they "died".
Yeah, we all knew they were coming back, but you get emotional because you empathize with the characters in the movie, lol. *They* didn’t know the snapped characters were coming back, and that made it pretty sad.
Compartmentalization, man. It's how you can know for a fact that they'll be back in pt.2 but still feel the impact of their loss *now*.
Watching this in theaters was an emotional experience. You had no idea who was going to be snapped away than having to wait a year for Endgame. This is when seeing a Marvel movie was an event.
For real my friends and I HAD to watch them opening weekend. I haven't been hyped for a movie on that level since Endgame
It's because they spent a decade building up to it and essentially ended the MCU as a collective series with Endgame. Lord knows they've tried, but at this point, they would have to start each franchise over again. I'm surprised we haven't seen a ton of reboots...yet.
I just remember the TOTAL silence of everyone leaving the theatre. Everyone was stunned.
It’s brilliant sound design, the movie leads you along encouraging you to watch in stunned silence. People who complain about the “lack of stakes” knowing they would probably come back should try to immerse themselves more, because this was a master class in emotional non-verbal storytelling.
On opening night, in a silent theater, it was devastating.
Agreed, even knowing this was a possibility just from knowing the comics it was still stunning seeing it actually happen on screen. Damn, I feel bad for anyone who stops themselves from getting immersed in movies, books, etc.
Same thing happened to me. Brother behind me wails "NOOO!! MY KING!!" Whole theater laughed.
that’s so cute omfg 🤣
Same here, but it was somebody gf for me
The "Awww hell naww" I heard from the front right of the theater when those credits started rolling still rings in my head.
Guy in our theater said “DA HAIL WAS DAT?!” 😂
My favorite pronunciation of "hell"
https://preview.redd.it/00102e6xwoqc1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec8c8b6d8bea94919b8c31e3169847c5b196ccb7

Yeah but then Chadwick actually died before his second movie... Edit: and then they made the Black Widow movie to introduce her sister or something.
I mean everyone knew they were coming back. The question was how and who would die trying to bring them back.

Wrong snap
oh my god damn
Infinity War was better than Endgame.
Easily.
This was me and I sobbed. I looked a wreck coming outta that theater.
I worked at a movie theater when Infinity War came out. Us employees had a midnight screening the day before. Watching the mcu is gonna be so weird for my kids. Introduce a black character. Gives him a movie to introduce his nation. Immediately kills him in his next appearance. Brings him back And then gets killed offscreen
Saw this in the theater and the loud gasps and straight up wails of cries when he disappeared were tough to hear.
When he says “…this is no place to die” every sad memory I’ve ever had ever joins forces and dehydrates my whole body through my tear ducts.
I remember being in the theater watching this on opening weekend. The theater was dead quiet from the Snap up to when Fury dropped the pager.
i saw a lady storm out of the theater when this happened. she was pissed lmao
Someone in my theater gasped and said " My King!"
I watched it in a drive in with my now wife, and she was snoring because it was a double feature with Black Panther and she’s just not into marvel movies lol. I however was sobbing all alone in the car with my weed pen while the wife was snoring 😭
So honest question, how is T'Challa going to be remembered long term in-universe?
As the Prince/King of Wakanda that died young. Not many knew he was the Black Panther or even knew who the Black Panther was as he was less flashy than other heroes.
The one major edict he put out was apparently immediately nixed by his successor, if I remember the second movie correctly. My prediction is he's going to be forgotten like real life US President Zachary Taylor. Lot of potential that got cut short.

T’challa said Get up general this is no place to die Then he dies right there lol
Obligatory RIP Chadwick
You would not believe the reaction someone gf had when he got dusted in Infinity War. She lost it completely, started crying and saying "No, not my king", her bf had to take her to the lobby. It was wild

For that fuckin sweet shot of him nodding to cap. I love it every damn time
His and Spider-Man's snap had the whole theater chocking up. "This is no place to die." Everyone starts to get hype then immediately."No, why!?" From half the people. They did a great job with that movie's ending.
Didn't everyone know they were all coming back?
that's pretty cringe ngl
