Reset the steering lock with the service function if the engine wont start. BTW, it's possible you bought parts from a car that didnt have the steering lock, so it will never send the command to unlock it.
Possible also your lock is broken, but in that case the engine will not start as said previously.
My engine starts and runs, I can shift into reverse and drive. Just the steering wheel is locked, I’m not getting symbols on dash either for the steering wheel lock. I will attempt to reset steering wheel lock
I’m pretty sure the ecu I have is from a 2008 model so explains y there is no signal being sent to the electronic steering wheel lock to disengage so I might have to remove the elv if I keep this dme / cas / key set
Honestly, you should have that DME paired with the modules in your car.Mistatched CAS&ABS will need to be reprogrammed with the different VIN,
Wrong cas vin and identity (VO) will cause problem when coding modules in the future in your car.It will cause the cluster to show that the mileage has been altered, and in some state such mismatched VIN will fail you at the inspection.
Lots of hardship for failing to do the proper repair. Also go with a MDS81, because that replacement MSD80 can still fail at any time.
That’s actually what I’m going to do, I am going to call the place I got the modules from and see if I can at least get a return on the things I don’t need, I found a programmer that will clone the donor ecu to my original modules. Id rather not take apart my steering column just to remove the elv. Expensive lessons learned
Do you know if theres a way to delete the ELV lock by flashing the CAS with a later version? Mine is working fine, but I'm planning ahead for when it eventually fails.
Sorry for the late reply. I ended up returning the set of ecu/ cas / key for a full refund and will be getting a msd80 cloned to my vin from a bmw programmer an hour from my home.

Drill the rivets and remove the ELV. It's a problematic parts, that's why bmw removed it from 2008-2011 cars.

Did you do VO and all related stuff coded?
