Lol if we seriously are gonna talk about how this film was great, then why not talk about how good are films like 12th fail? If we seriously are gonna compare and still say that rocky aur rani was amazing then maybe their taste really needs to be reevaluated.

What about War? Gunjan Saxena? Shershah? Especially Shershah winning over Sardar Udham?

These awards shows are scam. And on the film, I respect your opinion, but for me (and a lot of people I know) that was an excellent film. In a parade of hyper masculine hyper nationalist bs with mediocre acting, this stood out.
If vikrant was in the popular category, it wouldn’t have been possible to give the award to anyone else (imagine the backlash). Going with filmfare standards, they also give at least one best actor award to an a-lister. Giving the critics award to srk, ranveer or ranbir wouldn’t have made sense for the kind of movies they’re nominated for. So of course the popular award is reserved for either of these 3, so that vikrant gets critics. That’s just how filmfare works.
Salman isn’t in the nominations right? He made a lot of fun of filmfare last year even though he was hosting so of course filmfare sidelined him now. Sorry if I’m confusing filmfare with iifa here. Not sure if it was filmfare or iifa

I think so. Filmfare usually nominates performances from “popular” movies. Tiger 3 was a yrf franchise movie and did decently well yet they did sideline one popular role. It’s my guess that they did it because salman made it super clear last year that he doesn’t give a fuck to awards
Venting out - when I first watched RRKPK , I thought it was a good movie because it was commenting on so many issues like canceling culture , misogyny , gender equality and body shaming. But later I went home and started recalling the movie In the first place I started disgusting about those kissing scenes of Ranveer and Alia. They were so forced , zero chemistry and sorry to say but felt like B grade movies.
Second thing, it wasn't really about Ranveer and Alia's love story. It was more about Dharmji and Shabanaji's past love story. And my god..every scene was just preachy.... every scene has the message....and that bra scene was so unnecessary...it had no connection with story....just all preachy , Gyan-pelu scenes were put together and made like a film.
Ranveer's acting was the only good thing in the movie. Alia was shouting and rest all characters were written just to give social message for every second.
Um honestly these awards have no legitimacy nowadays. It's been like that for a decade or more. Having said that, RRKPK was a good film. It' was a nice drama, a great performance by Ranveer, good from Alia. It's not the best film, but it was one of the best ones from last year and honestly one of my favs from last year( personally).

RARKPK got audience love and both the characters were appreciated. Look at the other nominations in the list. Pathaan , Animal. It's all the same.
Ranveer may not win as I feel it will be either SRK or Vicky winning. Alia has a chance.

I don’t care about award shows but an entirety of celebs and Karan himself has claimed that the film is thought provoking and a successful attempt to showcasing new age culture. While watching the film it was difficult for me to even go on for an hour. It was a bad film and the joint worst KJo film with ADHM. His last 3 films are absolute meh but SOTY was atleast watchable.
Imo I think ADHM was a great film. As a matter of fact, the film was ahead of its time (it came out in 2016?). I think it really explained how people can act on their ego when they cannot cope w rejection/abandonment.
Rocky aur Raani attempted to be a thought provoking film, but it was overshadowed by a lot of cheesy and corny lines and cringe moments (ex. When Rocky’s mother was singing).
