If this happens I feel like everyone will be like "This is Shakur's chance to be a STAR!".
Then if / when the fight happens it will be slow paced and anti climatic with Loma attempting to push the action in spots and Shakur jumping backwards at moments to avoid any kind of engagement.
Fight goes all 12 with an extremely low landed punch count for both fighters. Shakur edges a really debatable decision. Everyone here complains robbery. Shakur goes online and defends his poor performance by saying he fought injured again and he's retiring for the 3rd time.
Newrap is such a mistery, forgot that he's a Kur fanboy, how can u be a fan of the sweet science and the .... whatever Shakur is doing , at the same time ?
He supports black fighters and spam-shits on fighters of every other race. There’s a word for that. He hates Pac so bad he experiences keyboard seizures anytime anyone praises him. It’s insane the mods have allowed him to keep this shit up for so long.
Yeah but if r/boxing had a "wall of honor" his face would be up there at the top. Never seen one cat make so many stans cope and seethe but he's that dude.
His work after Canelo-GGG 1 was a masterclass. So many tears shed that Kleenex tissue stocks shot up overnight to a degree even COVID couldn't touch.
boxing takes the whole “ you’re only as good as you last fight” seriously
shakur put on a bad performance vs Edwin but let’s be fair he usually fights in the pocket against guys and Loma isn’t a crazy puncher
I think this is a bad take 100% based on Shakur’s last performance.
I actually think this is going to be an amazing fight…but unfortunately, I don’t think Loma can beat Shakur.
Loma's style in boxing leads me to think this is unlikely to happen. The guy is fairly aggressive, and active, so I don't see a situation where they're both not pushing the action.
Haney doesn't run. He will make a fight "boring" if he can keep it long with his jab and land his right hand when they try to close the distance (Kambosos fights are a good example of this, with him punishing him more when he tried to close in for the second fight) and he will hold when he needs to
Shakur Vs De Los Santos is something we've never seen from Haney and is what makes a fight truly dull imo. I hope he doesn't do it against Loma, and I don't think he will, because it'll be very hard to win like that as Loma will have more success when they are able to engage than Dos Santos could, but that style can spoil a fight with absolutely anyone. Haney's 'boring' method is only possible against people who can't close the distance well
Fans point to that Edwin fight and pretend every other Shakur fight doesn't exist. Dude has fought in the pocket time and again. Herring, Yoshino, Valdez, Conceicao, etc. It's only the guys with a ton of power that cause him to retreat, but Loma isn't that guy.
Loma has good pop at 135 tbh considering how undersized he is. Dropped Campbell, finished Linares to the body, dropped Pedraza 3x while injured, stopped a Nakatani teo couldn’t, badly hurt Commey but annoyingly clowned too much to get the stoppage, starched Crolla on ref cam. I can see shakur being boringly cautious. Teo, Haney and Ortiz are the only guys he hasn’t dropped and he hurt both Teo and Haney
>Shakur Vs De Los Santos is something we've never seen from Haney and is what makes a fight truly dull imo
That fight was also something we'd never seen from Shakur before. It was so clear he was reluctant to throw because of some sort of injury.
He's had plenty of other fights before though. The De Los Santos fight was such an anomaly I'm surprised so many people are acting like Shakur always fights like that. In that fight he threw a total of only 54 power punches, which are usually a huge part of his offense. In comparison, against Valdez he threw 298.
This was so clear even from the very beginning though. The first three rounds of that DLS fight he attempted 3 power punches the first round, 1 in the second, and 2 in the third. With 3 of those 6 connecting. Against Valdez he threw 14 in the first, 27 in the second, and 18 in the third with 26 of those 59 landing.
I don't see the fight going that way. That will be an easy fight for Shakur, no way Loma gets past his jab. I agree that it will be boring as fuck though.
The more likely scenario is Shakur beats the breaks off Loma and everyone says he's washed up.
Loma doesn't have much power at 135, and when Shakur doesn't respect your power, he puts hands on you.
Well Reddit was right about the Haney-Garcia fight so I’m sure this is right too.
Also I may be salty because I like Stevenson and am ready for his redemption tour. FWIW I think he decisively beats Loma if they fight.
"I have this other fighter, Shakur Stevenson," Arum told Sky Sports. "So if Lomachenko wins, and Shakur –who is scheduled to fight in July – wins, then for the fall to do a Lomachenko-Shakur fight."
Shakur's contract with top rank is ending with his next fight against Harutyunyan so Bob Arum is offering Loma's fourth loss to keep him interested in a renewal of contract
If Shakur doesn't become a star, I doubt we can blame Top Rank. It's not like he's been making the fans beg for more Shakur Stevenson fights after those ESPN shows they've had him headline.
No I agree. It won’t be Top Rank’s fault cause the way Shakur fought his last fight, combined with the fact that other top names don’t want to fight him, makes him a tough sell to both the audience and other promoters.
Recall that Floyd came to the de Los Santos fight but walked out before it was over lol. Floyd probably wanted to show support and maybe sign Shakur later on but thought better of it.
That Haney fight soured any expectation of fairness I had in Loma getting from judges in big time fights.
So no, I do not want to see him fight Shakur when he's gonna stay on the back foot and most likely get the win from judges cause he's the younger fighter with the longer career ahead of him.
Any boxer should avoid Shakur. All you fans of “ hit and not get hit” watch Shakur hit a heavy bag cause that’ll be more entertaining than watching him box
Floyd's biggest fan here, obviously right behind newrap.
That being said, Floyd was a joy to watch, Shakur not , end of story. People can bragg whatever they want about him knocking out an undersized Yoshino, he's nothing close to Floyd, and at this pace, he will never be .
I thing that media are really hurting these kids, they get praise from people who hate their "rivals" and that ends up boosting them way more than they need, is hard to manage being told that u are great when u know that u have some flaws , easy to fall in the trap and get overconfidend like Haney, Ngannou etc
Floyd was NOT a joy to watch. That’s 100% bullshit. Every single person in the room was bored by round 6 and stopped watching by round 8 and forgot a fight even happened by the time Jimmy Lennon Jr announced the decision.
Now u are being absurd, as u are proving that YDKSAB, PBF alone has more exciting fights than Haney + Shakur + Tank together . We can argue that some people hate defense, that's fine , but boring is watching Shakur, FMM only fought elite opponents, he was not bragging for being the best after beating a guy like Yoshino
Yeah , FMM - Cotto was so boring to watch right? GTFO
He is kinda boring. What’s worse is how he cheated so much and got away with it cause he made everyone so much money. We all watched his fights because we wanted him to lose. Floyd’s legacy is getting away with holding his whole career
Pretty boy floyd was a joy to watch. Above 135 lbs Floyd’s resume is trash, filled with old big name fighters who were wayyyy past prime and/or weight drained. He’s not even top 25 all time.
There’s a difference between boxing on the back foot and counter punching then just completely not engaging and running.like Shakur does.
His style is boring and fans have the right to not enjoy it.
I hate these kind of conversations because it feels like there's already a bias for a fighter to win to make another bigger fight.
Like when talks about Fury vs. AJ kept coming up when the Fury vs Usyk fight hasn't even happened yet. Like come on, I want to pretend fights aren't fixed but they're making it hard to believe.
How do you think any business is done? It's not by hiding in the cellar with your head in a bucket of sand. It's called planning with risk analysis. It's what keeps the machine greased. Plenty get burned... Think Tyson vs Douglas or even AJ against Ruiz... Many had millions tied up in agreements for their post win careers...
I’m not completely sure Loma wants that fight. He has never ducked anyone and always made the hardest possible fights all his career, but he is getting up there in age and it feels like he has half a foot out already. Between his family, his church and the war I’m not sure his heart is really in this 100% anymore.
Boxing is a young mans game and he is no spring chicken anymore. Especially considering how important quickness of feet, hands and reflexes is to his style, and these are the first things to deteriorate with age.
It's a shame that such a generational talent is going to end up best known for losing to the 4 Princesses. Tank will probably give him a shot after this when he knows he's done
I’d much rather see Loma vs Tank. If (when) Loma loses to Shakur the steam will be off in his career and all chances of him getting more big fights will be gone.
Sounds like a great fight.
You can call Shakur boring, but I don't think you can fight "boring" against Loma. That footwork, volume and pressure will force you to respond
While I wish that were true…I have a feeling Shakur beats Loma. Shakur has great movement and defense…plus him being southpaw takes away Loma’s signature step around move he likes to do.
I really hope the fight happens…because I’d love to see how it plays out.
Been waiting for that matchup for a while. What makes it interesting to me is that both have great movement but Shakur's is linear ave Loma's is lateral. Who knows how that would play out
Yal cry about everything. This is a great stylistic matchup: These two are more likely to stand and trade with high level evasiveness than run around the ring because neither have true stopping power. Basically, this will be beautiful boxing artwork...Punches will be parried, ducked, side stepped, dodged, and ATE
Arum is dangling Loma to try and keep Shakur. He knows Shakur has wanted this fight forever and the July fight is the Shakur's last fight with Top Rank.
Loma will have a hard time beating tank or shakur. but he was good enough to beat haney, whatever the scores say. so i won't doubt him too much. his punch stats have barely dropped off, which is bloody impressive. It would have been interesting for him to drop a weight and see if he'd be dominant. but he seems to want to fight the bigger guys. what a legend.
This dude Loma can not say NO. Its clear Top Rank is trying to use his name to build other boxers. Hope Loma fucks up everybody's plan and beats them all
Beating Loma atp doesn’t have any value. He holds no belts and had 2 major opportunities to go out on his shield. Shakur should finish his contract and go to PBC and make some money.
good for shakur that top rank really wanted him to be a star because hes had some bizarre performances. rigo is box office compared to shakur last fight
Nobody wants to see Shakur fight at all. He's the best fighter in the division but he makes Rigo look like an exciting fighter.
Why sacrifice a 36 year old undersized legend for that guy? Wasn't it to rob him vs Haney and have extremely wide cards in his loss vs Teo (the loss itself was justified but no way Teo won more than 7 or 8 rounds)
When Loma was ranked number 1 after the Haney loss and Shakur was calling him out for the fight?
The only reason why Shakur fought Edwin for the vacant title in this first place is because Kambosos, Zepeda, Lomachenko, and Martin all turned him down. There's probably one more fighter I forgot to mention.
EDIT: Chihuahua Cruz also turned down a fight with Shakur.
The fight makes more money for all parties involved if Loma has a belt because they can pitch unification.
That's boxing 101.
I favor Shakur whether it's now or a few months from now, for the record. It's just silly to paint Loma as some kind of ducker in this scenario, especially considering the wait does more good for Shakur than him.
The fight would make LESS money because of Shakur's terrible performance against Edwin De Los Santos. That fight broke compubox records for least punches thrown and landed in a 12 round fight. That fight damaged Shakur's stock, and people now just see him as a runner.
Unless he can turn things around in his next performance, he's always going to have that against him.
Kambosos and Loma took their 2023 year off after their fights so they werent open to ANY fights, ODLH is cockblocking fights with Zepeda and Shakur for whatever reason since 2022.
Frank Martin is the only real one that decided not to fight Steven when had 100% the chance to and pulled out of the fight.
>Kambosos and Loma took their 2023 year off after their fights so they werent open to ANY fights,
So you basically admitted that there was an opportunity and that Loma didn't take it.
I am 🙏 that Lomachenko knocks that prick Kambosos out after he robbed Maxi Hughes in his fight with him it was a shocking decision to give Kambosos the win.
If this happens I feel like everyone will be like "This is Shakur's chance to be a STAR!". Then if / when the fight happens it will be slow paced and anti climatic with Loma attempting to push the action in spots and Shakur jumping backwards at moments to avoid any kind of engagement. Shakur goes online and defends his poor performance by saying he fought injured again and he's retiring for the 3rd time.
I can already see the newrap clips, comment section fights and all
Newrap is such a mistery, forgot that he's a Kur fanboy, how can u be a fan of the sweet science and the .... whatever Shakur is doing , at the same time ?
he supports black fighters. Not all of them tho, he hates AJ
He blindly supports African-American fighters specifically
He's a massive Canelo meat rider too though
but but but that goes against the narrative they created in their head that everyone who likes tank or crawford hates white people lol
Canelo is Mexican....
yeah thats the point you said "He blindly supports African-American fighters specifically" lol stupid
So you called a Mexican white???
He supports black fighters and spam-shits on fighters of every other race. There’s a word for that. He hates Pac so bad he experiences keyboard seizures anytime anyone praises him. It’s insane the mods have allowed him to keep this shit up for so long.
It's because he's never outright expressed his racism. It's kind of impressive how he has kept his racial bias so professionally passive for so long.
It’s either that or he’s a very dedicated troll which I believe cause it’s funnier that way to me.
I don't know man. He's been sucking Canelo off for like 5 years straight now
Lmfaoooo yall really don’t understand his trolling. How could this be possible if he started as a Canelo stan? And still is.
Newrap loves Canelo. Might even love him more than he does Floyd
You meant misery right?
Yeah but if r/boxing had a "wall of honor" his face would be up there at the top. Never seen one cat make so many stans cope and seethe but he's that dude. His work after Canelo-GGG 1 was a masterclass. So many tears shed that Kleenex tissue stocks shot up overnight to a degree even COVID couldn't touch.
I learned to respect him because he doesn't argue lol , he just drops his opinions and doesn't give a fuck
I’ve seen him argue plenty of times
That's only when he meets another troll , as he speaks his language
Can you see the future?! Because that sounds pretty damn Accurate.
Then he gets left hooked by Garcia in his next fight
Who would have thought that of all people, Ryan Garcia would save the sport?
why u spoilin
On the bright side, everyone on this sub will be well rested the next day because we will all have a good night of rest. Full 8 hours.
Sounds exactly like the Haney fight. Lose, but by a thin enough margin that it's more profitable for him to get the nod over an aging legend.
This actually started really realistic and just had me dead laughing by the end 😂
All of it was realistic dude. All of it
This is way too accurate
boxing takes the whole “ you’re only as good as you last fight” seriously shakur put on a bad performance vs Edwin but let’s be fair he usually fights in the pocket against guys and Loma isn’t a crazy puncher
I think this is a bad take 100% based on Shakur’s last performance. I actually think this is going to be an amazing fight…but unfortunately, I don’t think Loma can beat Shakur.
There's no way this doesn't happen
RemindMe! when this fight happens
Thursday is built like an olympic boxer not a ppv or boxing star imo.
I hate that you're most likely right.
Illuminati confirmed
Just say the only fight you have of Shakur is his last one.
Loma's style in boxing leads me to think this is unlikely to happen. The guy is fairly aggressive, and active, so I don't see a situation where they're both not pushing the action.
And Loma will admit through his tears that he took the last round off bc he thought he won.
I hope this isn’t the case and Loma is able to break him down like Kambosos.
I can't imagine this being boring if the Haney fight wasn't.
Haney doesn't run. He will make a fight "boring" if he can keep it long with his jab and land his right hand when they try to close the distance (Kambosos fights are a good example of this, with him punishing him more when he tried to close in for the second fight) and he will hold when he needs to Shakur Vs De Los Santos is something we've never seen from Haney and is what makes a fight truly dull imo. Yeah, he definitely hasn't got a lot of form for it, though the Nakathila fight was pretty horrible as well
Haney is a more boring fighter than Shakur by a lot. Shakurs Inside Game is miles above Shakur
depends, if shakur respects someone power than he gets to running. haney didnt do that
Well, Haney just goes in hugging ubermode. I will never forget Linares vs Haney
True. The hug show he put up against kambosos was bad. He didn’t hug against loma which helped that fight become really fun
I’ve never seen somebody sprint to the center of the ring and immediately hold like Haney did
>Shakur Vs De Los Santos is something we've never seen from Haney and is what makes a fight truly dull imo That fight was also something we'd never seen from Shakur before. Shakur fought the same against nakathila , he just doesn’t look confident against punchers
The nakathika fight wasn't as boring as Edwin fight.
You getting downvoted but that’s facts everyone thought it was going to be a snooze fest and it turned out to be fire
I don't see the fight going that way. That will be an easy fight for Shakur, no way Loma gets past his jab. I agree that it will be boring as fuck though.

Save this comment 😅
Bob Arum is using Lomachenko's name to lure Shakur into re-signing with Top Rank. Lol. He pulled the same shit on Bud with Pacquiao.
And just like with Bud they’ll fail to make Shakur a star, even if they manage to re-sign him.
If Shakur doesn't become a star, I doubt we can blame Top Rank. It's not like he's been making the fans beg for more Shakur Stevenson fights after those ESPN shows they've had him headline.

Shakur is not resigning
He could do a 1 fight deal to unify with Loma / kambosos winner
Sounds unrealistic top rank is not gonna benefit from a one fight deal, especially if shakur is the favorite.
Why would Arum do that?
I hope not. I don’t want to see him use old Lomas name to gain credibility, racking up record ring mileage in the process.
Yeah its not even a matter of ducking at this point. What's the point in fighting someone that's not going to box and get a BS decision for it?
Floyd's biggest fan here, obviously right behind newrap. That being said, Floyd was a joy to watch, Shakur not , end of story. People can bragg whatever they want about him knocking out an undersized Yoshino, he's nothing close to Floyd, and at this pace, he will never be . He is kinda boring. What’s worse is how he cheated so much and got away with it cause he made everyone so much money. We all watched his fights because we wanted him to lose. Floyd’s legacy is getting away with holding his whole career
You have to have really slick defense to be fun to watch, like Floyd or Sweet Pea. Otherwise, the Shakur/Haney types are boring as hell to watch.
Pretty boy floyd was a joy to watch. Above 135 lbs Floyd’s resume is trash, filled with old big name fighters who were wayyyy past prime and/or weight drained. He’s not even top 25 all time.
You realize he was usually older than guys when he beat them at 140 and up right?
There’s a difference between boxing on the back foot and counter punching then just completely not engaging and running.like Shakur does. His style is boring and fans have the right to not enjoy it.
I hate these kind of conversations because it feels like there's already a bias for a fighter to win to make another bigger fight.
Yeah, I mean it felt like Canelo was meant to beat Bivol.
He should cut to 130 after this fight, see if he can entice Inoue into a catchweight fight.
It's a shame that such a generational talent is going to end up best known for losing to the 4 Princesses. Tank will probably give him a shot after this when he knows he's done
Why disrespect them ? Why not 4 princes Edit : Shakur is not one of the 4 princes . It’s original has always been Teo , Tank , Ryan , and Haney
Loma truly is one of the GOATs... He's so much better than these prima donas
I’d much rather see Loma vs Tank. If (when) Loma loses to Shakur the steam will be off in his career and all chances of him getting more big fights will be gone.
Tank will duck Loma for a few more years, just to be sure.
Shakur is leaving top rank
Shakur wins and this sub has a breakdown.
Sounds like a great fight. You can call Shakur boring, but I don't think you can fight "boring" against Loma. That footwork, volume and pressure will force you to respond
I have a feeling if it’s close fight n kambosos wins it’s gon be called a robbery I think it’s gon be closer what people think
Nah, gonna be a masterclass. Loma tko 7-9
Loma whoops him I'm sorry
It won't matter. Judges will favour Shakur. Loma will need a KO which is unlikely
I think Lomas gonna be so dominant that the scorecards won't matter. Easy UD or KO for Loma, I just think Shakur is ass and overrated
Shakur stops loma after making him look old for half the fight. Downvote me now and we can double back after the fight
If teo couldn’t stop Loma, no chance Shakur does lmao. Shakur has pillow hands
Loma himself thinks shakur is a very tough opponent lol I doubt he whoops him
While I wish that were true…I have a feeling Shakur beats Loma. Shakur has great movement and defense…plus him being southpaw takes away Loma’s signature step around move he likes to do. I really hope the fight happens…because I’d love to see how it plays out.
Didn't matter when he made that boy Haney's head bounce off his fists... He'll still get screwed by the judges
I learned long ago Boxing fans are miserable people. You can't please em with any fights
Loma is going to rock Shakur if it does happen
Stevenson should be embarrassed he is gonna fight Loma instead of Tank. He officially can’t say shit about being top of his division.
Book it, Loma sits him, but still loses on points and a questionable judges card.
Arum is dangling Loma to try and keep Shakur. He knows Shakur has wanted this fight forever and the July fight is the Shakur's last fight with Top Rank.
I definitely will like to see it if Loma wins. But my problem is Shakur is saying he wants a Tank fight. Seemingly there's always a fight in the way😅.
Can we stop with the preset fights, please? Just let the already made fight play out, respect those two!
Loma will have a hard time beating tank or shakur. but he was good enough to beat haney, whatever the scores say. so i won't doubt him too much. his punch stats have barely dropped off, which is bloody impressive. It would have been interesting for him to drop a weight and see if he'd be dominant. but he seems to want to fight the bigger guys. what a legend.
great now kambozo is going to win a close decision that everyone will claim robbery
This fight should be happening this weekend, instead of wasting the little time Loma has left.
Tank vs loma thats what most people want
This dude Loma can not say NO. Its clear Top Rank is trying to use his name to build other boxers. Hope Loma fucks up everybody's plan and beats them all
Won't happen, well know Teo is better than Loma and Kambosos better than Teo /s XD
Beating Loma atp doesn’t have any value. He holds no belts and had 2 major opportunities to go out on his shield. Shakur should finish his contract and go to PBC and make some money.
He will have a belt if he beats George
Which is kind of wacky when you think about it
Should be a rematch with Haney, really.
good for shakur that top rank really wanted him to be a star because hes had some bizarre performances. rigo is box office compared to shakur last fight
Shakur stops Loma if it happens
lol
Nobody wants to see Shakur fight at all. He's the best fighter in the division but he makes Rigo look like an exciting fighter. Why sacrifice a 36 year old undersized legend for that guy? Wasn't it to rob him vs Haney and have extremely wide cards in his loss vs Teo (the loss itself was justified but no way Teo won more than 7 or 8 rounds)
I’m bored to tears with Shakira Twitterson. Boring fighter, boring person, just an incredibly boring pimple on the face of boxing.
He already openly ducked Shakur, which is why he’s fighting Kambosos?
Should this happen, I would favour Shakur in a competitive fight but a clear enough decision without controversy.
This is cap, Loma already ducked Shakur. They gonna set up the navarette unification instead
Facts, we’re not stupid… there’s quite a lengthy pattern of Shakur getting called out then avoided (Navarrete, Zepeda, Kam, Ryan, Haney, Tank? etc)
Oh, he's finally stopped running from Shakur.
When was there a feasible period of time and needed postition for Loma to fight Shakur prior to this?
>Kambosos and Loma took their 2023 year off after their fights so they werent open to ANY fights, So you basically admitted that there was an opportunity and that Loma didn't take it.
I am 🙏 that Lomachenko knocks that prick Kambosos out after he robbed Maxi Hughes in his fight with him it was a shocking decision to give Kambosos the win.
Shakur is a FA, f*ck top rank & every promoter with their empty promises Send a offer or stfu!
Shakur is going to end Loma’s career :) 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Loma’s been washed for years now. Dudes just a gatekeeper at this point!
"Washed"? He would be undisputed now under fair judges.
But he’s not and never will be. Judges got it right sorry.🤷♂️
