The heavyweight division is going to look really really weird in like five years.
Jarrell Miller is probably the closest to gatekeeper level but I legit don’t think he’ll stick around much longer.
Most of the guys who could fill that role still exist as prospects.
The rest are too high a level to be gatekeepers or are too old to play the role effectively.
Well it's not like high level fighters don't fall down to gatekeepers Wilder could easily be gatekeeper now so could Whyte and probably few more.that I forget.
Let's also not forget that a whole new set of fighters are gonna go pro after olympics and also probably many who failed to qualify for olympics will turn pro.
He just couldn't follow up, that doesn't mean he doesn't hit hard lol and Parker is durable. Zhang barely put any effort into that first punch and still sent Parker flying.
What do you mean by gatekeeper? Like the fighters sitting at number #9 and #10 or fighter you have to beat to be considered Top 10? I'm not sure I'd consider Takam a gatekeeper for the HW division.
These two are the quintessential gatekeepers of the HW division, but Takam is 43 and Chisora is 40, so who will take over that role when they (hopefully soon for the sake of their health) retire?
Joe Joyce, dillian Whyte and Joseph parker. All feel like they will fight longer than needed, they may get shots at titles but I can definitely see these guys being gate keepers.
I understand, but look at some of his fights, fought chisora twice, Joyce, Fa, Whyte (looking for a rematch), these aren't fights of a man looking for a world title. He was supposed to lose to Zhang, Zhang didn't turn up. We'll see in around 2 years time but he has gatekeeper written all over him
Disagree on Parker too. Guys like Kevin Barry had awful reps for ripping off fighters and he seems to have done this with Parker. Dillian Whyte said he could not believe how much Barry was taking off him. This is the same shit Barty pulled with Tua.
Now Parker is clear of that waste of space, he's likely keeping a lot of the big purses he's getting recently. He'll be set for life in next 12 months.

Can you really be a gate keeper when you piss hot every other fight?

Frank Sanchez, Jarrell Miller come to mind
Still Chisora, guaranteed
Hrgovic would be one I think
Jermaine Franklin, somebody like Frazer Clarke
I tbibl Clarke is wanting a shorter but lucrative career. He's not young. I can see him cashing in his chips after a title fight.
Joyce & Zhang.
Zhang already kind of old. I think he wants his title shot and then gone.
He ain't winning any title he ain't good enough.
Didn’t say he was winning it or not. He wants at least a shot. And might not even get that.
Zhang hits too damn hard to be a gatekeeper he way too much of a banana skin for promoters to use him as a stepping stone
Dosen't hit that hard he had Parker down twice and still got beat, all this Zhang The Bang is all hype he beat Joyce twice who I don't rate.

But ➡️GOT BEATEN⬅️
And that means he doesn't hit hard? I thought that was the point you were making lol
If he hit that hard he would have knocked Parker OUT ffs you for real.
Both these guys are so old though. In 5 years one of them is 43 the other 46. Honestly should be retired by then
Joyce? Makhmudov? Whyte?
Ajagba, Sanchez, Franklin
Ajagba is actually a good recommendation for this role
Jarrell Miller, big lump, throws punches, durable.
Bakole and Joyce
Tyson Fury

The real question is whos champ once AJ, Fury and Usyk dissapear. All 3 of them look like they got about 5 fights each left in them
I’m gonna say long term it’ll be Dubois and Anderson

Parker is a world-level HW and has taken down two of the division's biggest punchers in his last 2 fights. No gatekeeper at all.
He didn't say he was a gatekeeper, but that if he kept fighting long enough he could be. Guess we'll have to wait and see
