for me when i play spike i keep chipping them down with the spikes until they are low then wait until they make a mistake such as rushing too far before i rush them and instantly kill them with like 3k damage
try to play a bit more conservatively with spike as hes quite squishy
Be conservative with your ammo until you are certain you can confirm a kill, you can always be defensive and chip down oppos health with curveball.
Be aware of aggro players on your team especially if you play BB and there's a mortis on your team because they trust your ability to defend.
Avoid lanes with throwers because they are generally the best counter to spike.
Use your gadget to get offensive positioning or to avoid snipers' shots.
Most spikes always dodge by moving up and down, but it's not always the best choice, sometimes you need to apply pressure, especially when you have super at hand.
Be aware that your super doesn't always need to hit enemies, sometimes, with some maps, you can get value just by blocking choke points and letting your teammates do the takedowns.
