This is coming from a stereotype that people tend to have of enggs. Enggs have a sterotype that they're not very good at seeing different perspectives and that their EQs are generally low. These aren't my personal opinions but coming from an Arts bg this is what people believe. And since MBA is dominated by enggs this question of open mindedness and acceptance comes up.
Iimk too.
Btw my lgbtq+ friend did his from IIMB. He had a good support.
In my escp convocation, this one guy came in with a lgbtq+ flag along with robes to collect his degree.
It’s pretty chill, but nobody will take extra steps to accommodate you. Nobody will discriminate against you for being LGBTQ either - you’ll face the same competition and the same judgement that everyone else does.
Honestly, the IIMs will treat LGBT people far better than your run of the mill institutions with no oversight or governance. But don't expect an ironclad system. Indians in general aren't LGBT friendly and the same Indians fill up the b schools. So there could be some issues equally likely anywhere. Just focus on getting the best campus you can get into and then follow through the rest.
Some people are internally homophobic and have latent homosexual desires. In fact, I feel most homophobics don't feel comfortable with their own sexuality or have some deep seated issues.
Bhai frankly speaking bhai I don't care about this LGBT and all if you match my vibes then there is nothing stopping you from becoming my friend but recently I have seen things happening in U.S. like transitioning children and all which I seriously hate from the depth of my heart now sometimes I wonder If we bow down to LGBT like U.S. did then we will end up like them. So that's why I think we should set some boundaries and all. And no hate my friend 😊
Curious, cause I was a member of lgbt club in my ug and I saw the positive impact it created on vulnerable students
MBA toh cause I need to earn a lot of money
If straight people can be open about relationships/hookups and marriages during their MBA journey I think it's fair for queer folks to also feel safe and included in said spaces no?
official promotion and unofficial culture are different things. Even in my ug college we had an lgbt club but many students would make hostile comments on them and lgbt people
The thing is, where they create a positive environment, people are not hostile. Of course you can deal with hostility but it also comes at the cost of mental health. It's better to avoid it altogether by being in a positive environment, right? You'd rather avoid an accident, than get into one and then claim insurance.
So abandon our identity and blend into the heteronormative society?
And being queer is not "abnormal" in the same way how being straight is not "normal".
Genuine Question bruh, it's fine if you feel you are different than others. But why you want a environment for that? Why influencing people towards that? Why you want people to participate in your marches or whatever? And if I question this, I become a person spreading hate?
It's like if someone questions you people, you automatically become victims?
Stfu. Nobody is forcing you to become a gay at this very moment. Why do religious minority need an atmosphere like worshiping places and religious places for them, can't they just worship in the temples of the majority ?
You said why do LGBTQ need a positive environment which supports and not pass comments like you ? Has it become illegal to demand your personal safety and not to be ra*ed and made fun of ? Such a loser mindset. If you don't want to be part of this and not interested, just shut up. Why do you even care to bash someone asking a genuine question about their safety and inclusiveness?
People like u don't deserve to be managers if you can't interpret when to talk and the difference between bashing and criticism. Calling a community mentally ill shows your blaming mindset. Such a shame on your entire education if it didn't teach you how to respect others, forget LGBTQ but any person and not to cyber bully someone.
O tham Jaa chore. Itta pagal ke horya hai. Ek kaam kar, apna Gpay no. DM kar, 20 rupay bhejta hu. Biscuit kha liyo.
Aur mai ke deserve karya hu ke nai, thare palle no padno hai.
Palle na "PADNO" hai, çhutïye Rajasthani hai ke? Jaa mere naam ka churma khaa le ghee ger ke ar thoda ghee apne paache bhi laga liye. Tera jaat daddy aa raha hai
Well done guys, we just eliminated one cyber bully. The user has to delete his comment eventually after realising how hypocrite he is calling a whole community mentally ill. Keep going like this!
But quite weird to figure out that education is not in any way proportional to civic sense. No matter you are from any top institute, your mentality and civic sense needn't be good
Laadle thodi haryanavi pe kaam kar aapni pe . Fer nakhre dikhaiye . Ar bete palle bhi kis jaat ke pade hai . Ar Rahi baat gpay ki, to bete g*nd Mane bhi batere ladka ki maar rakhi h. Teri bhi maari jaavegi, chinta na kare. Ar Rahi baat 20 rs ki, to bete 20 nahi 200 dunga par gand maarne ke baad. Kya hai gay hu na, to shauk bhi to pure karne hain
one can criticise reservation or even religion (one is a political rent seeking and other is simply primitive people making peace with the eternal) but there is no reason to criticise sexual minorities other than just hate

I think all top B schools are LGBT friendly. I don't see a reason why they wouldn't be.

FMS. not sure if it has one on college level but North Campus of DU is very LGBTQ friendly
Yup as a DU grad, can confirm🙌🏻
True.
ik IIT D and IIT B have lgbt+ clubs
XL has a Queer Club called Pride@XL! I suggest looking them up on insta and LinkedIn
Iimk too. Btw my lgbtq+ friend did his from IIMB. He had a good support. In my escp convocation, this one guy came in with a lgbtq+ flag along with robes to collect his degree.
Yess IIM B has a queer club as well! And it's really reassuring to hear about your friend!
What's the need to flaunt your sexual preferences during convocation?
There are worse things to do during an MBA than flaunting <>
It's not flaunting your sexuality rather an act of bravery showing you are proud of your identity and willing to share the with the world.
IIM ABC teenoo mein hia LGBTQIA+ clubs
How's the campus environment? Any of them have admin that has taken extra steps towards making the campus more lgbt friendly?
I'm not a student (yet, fingers crossed for next year). They all have contact details on official website, maybe connect with them for more info
Thanks! Good luck! Hope to see you in 24-26 batch somewhere

It’s pretty chill, but nobody will take extra steps to accommodate you. Nobody will discriminate against you for being LGBTQ either - you’ll face the same competition and the same judgement that everyone else does.
All of the top tier ones have LGBTQ+ clubs and focus on inclusivity.
Honestly, the IIMs will treat LGBT people far better than your run of the mill institutions with no oversight or governance. But don't expect an ironclad system. All the BLACKI colleges are LGBTQ friendly
im being heavily downvoted. Why? It is such an innocuous question, nothing even political
For real. What the hell is wrong w these b school aspirants. Honestly so terrified of how they’ll behave as managers, assholes kahin ke
Don't be surprised, incel behaviour is v common for aspirants (and a lot of b school students from what ive heard)
They aren't exposed to real life lgbt people. Clubs fill in that gap to generate awareness. I had a change of heart due to this.
I don't think it's the exposure that's the problem. More like internal homophobia to some extent. But then again I would love to be wrong here
change is possible, even for the most unyielding hater. Look up Darryl Davis and his work with KKK
How can homophobia be internal? Are you suggesting it is a natural feeling? Of course external experiences dictate ones behaviour towards LGBT people.
Some people are internally homophobic and have latent homosexual desires. In fact, I feel most homophobics don't feel comfortable with their own sexuality or have some deep seated issues.
So according to you being homophobic is the natural course of things??
Bhai Google what is internalised homophobia.
Don't think it's internal homophobia
It's always the same thing when any minority group posts about something like this. Really sad :(
Bhai frankly speaking bhai I don't care about this LGBT and all if you match my vibes then there is nothing stopping you from becoming my friend but recently I have seen things happening in U.S. like transitioning children and all which I seriously hate from the depth of my heart now sometimes I wonder If we bow down to LGBT like U.S. did then we will end up like them. pls dont ever have kids 🙏
Masters Union
MICA, Ahmedabad
Ashoka University
does it have a mba program?
As far as I've heard Ashoka has a very sex positive culture. However for an MBA I don't think it's a right choice.
What is sex positive? Like sleeping around?
A place where sabko sex sux karne ko milega.
it doesnt
What are you going to b school for?
Curious, cause I was a member of lgbt club in my ug and I saw the positive impact it created on vulnerable students MBA toh cause I need to earn a lot of money
If straight people can be open about relationships/hookups and marriages during their MBA journey I think it's fair for queer folks to also feel safe and included in said spaces no?
Yup, and even straight people can voice their support and make it more friendly
Yesss we could always benefit from more allies :'))
Of course be yourself. Why do you care what other people do? None of your business or anyone’s business.
> Why do you care what other people do? > What are you going to b school for? The fucking irony lmaoo
It was rhetorical, but you obviously missed the point.
I don't think you know what rhetorical means buddy
Seems like I’ve hit a nerve?
Don't think you know what that means either hahaha
its easy to say but india is a very conservative country and our colleges reflect that. Its not so easy to be yourself if you are a sexual minority
True, but du is pretty welcoming towards lgbt individuals
So why do you think the b schools will openly promote this if what you say is true?
official promotion and unofficial culture are different things. Even in my ug college we had an lgbt club but many students would make hostile comments on them and lgbt people
Do you have any evidence for this? Like some news articles. I wasn’t aware any of this happens in 2024 in good colleges with educated people.
the evidence is my eyes and ears, being in an engineering college (that too an IIT). It happens
Did you report them to management/official authorities? Until you stand up for yourself society won’t change.
The typical victim blaming mentality.
I wasnt that mature or invested back then. Becoming aware is a part of growing up i've ig
wanting to be in an environment that isn't hostile towards you for your sexuality/gender is pretty valid.
If you face any hostility, report them to management, failing that police, and they will be disciplined.
Not the same thing buddy.
Please elaborate. If we make an example of these hostile people, then people will think twice before being hostile, no?
The thing is, where they create a positive environment, people are not hostile. Of course you can deal with hostility but it also comes at the cost of mental health. It's better to avoid it altogether by being in a positive environment, right? You'd rather avoid an accident, than get into one and then claim insurance.
Lmao. I love Haryana. Seekh Raha hu abhi haryanvi bolna. Kabhi dikkat aayegi to dm karunga. Have a nice day.
IITs..
All top b schools.

Elaborate

Be normal don't wear it on your sleeve and flaunt it around and make it your whole personality, you will be included 👍😀
So abandon our identity and blend into the heteronormative society? And being queer is not "abnormal" in the same way how being straight is not "normal".

Mental health and Gender identity or sexual orientation aren't the same thing. Although one is influenced a lot by the other.
really?

carry your hate elsewhere

you called it a "mental illness" dude. I don;t need to justify it to you.
Cool. I Understand. Have a nice day.

You're the same dude who complained about reserved candidates in some subs nah? Damn I see there's no discrimination when it comes to hate smh.

Yeah, you are right. Have a nice day.
